  • The Odoriko (踊り子) is a limited express train service in Japan operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East), Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central), Izukyu Corporation and Izuhakone Railway, which runs between Tokyo and Izukyū-Shimoda or Shuzenji in Shizuoka Prefecture.
    The word odoriko means dancing girl in Japanese. The train service was named after the title of novel Izu no Odoriko (The Dancing Girl of Izu) by Yasunari Kawabata. The stage of the novel is the destination of the train, Izu Peninsula.
    The Super View Odoriko (スーパービュー踊り子) is a deluxe version of the Odoriko introduced from 28 April 1990. It uses 251 series 10-car EMUs and runs between Tokyo or Ikebukuro and Izukyū-Shimoda. The service was originally scheduled to commence from the start of the revised timetable on 10 March 1990, but rolling stock delivery delays meant that services were substituted by regular Odoriko services using 185 series EMUs.
    It is also announced that 2 sets of the new E261 series ”SAPHIR ODORIKO" 8 -car EMUs will be introduced as sightseeing services to the Izu Peninsula.

    The name "Sapphire" (English) has been changed to "Safir" (French), with the desire to enjoy a high-quality, high-grade, elegant journey, with the image of the beautiful Izu sea and sky shining blue like jewelry sapphire. Decided
    With this, there are reports suggesting that the introduction of this new train, Super View Odoriko services will be discontinued as 2020.

    I love your videos. You need long videos like this to have time to take in the beautiful scenery. It takes me nearly all day to watch an entire video, but it's worth it. It's a shame that they're discontinuing the big-view window trains. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi railfan aunz! I love watching your videos but this time you didn't put the station names in the comment thread as you usually do. Many of us like myself love to follow the journey on Google Maps. So please kindly just add the train departure station and the problem solved. You can also just reply to my comment and tell the station. Then people who want to know the station will see it in this comment. Thank you for your great work for making these fantastic videos! 💖

    Strange! At 51:15 (approx) the train driver got the green light to proceed several seconds BEFORE the level crossing barrier came down (although admittedly the white road vehicle had already come to a halt).

      I see what you mean. Before the level crossing barriers went down, most likely the alarm sound went off and the red lights were blinking for the motorists. Just my guess.

    Cool video but you could really use better audio, whatever mic you have is picking up a lot of noise from the recording device. That said this is more about the video.

    • @bwcbiz

      Only background noise I heard was train noise. Maybe it's your playback/headset? The whirring noise when the train is stopped is probably the ventilation system in the car.

It would be awesome if they could film, especially the Shinkansen cab view videos would get millions of views, that's for sure! As you might know, the bullet train drivers in many European countries are allowed to shoot during the driving. Then there's this one particular line I'd love to see, Beijing - Lhasa. The scenery must be amazing!

      Yeah, of course, Japanese drivers are not allowed to film a cab view videos.
      And they can't touch their phone while the train is stopped either.
      Or rather, they're not allowed to do anything outside the business at all.
      If they break the rules even a little bit,
      they'll fall prey to the lunchtime Great-looking Commentators for a few days. lol
      I think that , Japan is really a country that is either "stubborn" or "intolerant".
      I saw a video somewhere that says drivers can bring their own cameras.
      So he can film a cab view videos from the best position ―――
      ―― on the driver's seat? That's amazing. I’m so jealous!
      I guess the grasslands in the mountains are beautiful in Lhasa. I'd like to see that too.
      運転席という一番の特等席から景色を撮れる ってわけかい?うらやましい限りだよ。
      ラサだったら山間の草原が見られるのかな。僕も見てみたいね。

      @@bwcbiz I think it's really cool how trains are built in Japan. A passenger is able to shoot a cab view video whereas the driver is not allowed to do that. If only the trains were made in the same way here in my country as in Japan, I would probably be filming all the time 😅

    • @Marisolita_95
      @Marisolita_95 4 года назад

      I was wondering exactly the same. Usually this channel owner puts the schedule station by station on the thread but this time he/she didn't. Anyway, I assume that the train left either from Katase-Shirata or Izu-Atagawa, I may be wrong though. P. S Given the fact that shortly after the train left it was traveling very close to the ocean so the departure station might be Izu-Inatori or Imaihama-Kaigan.

  • @ArbitrFIFA
    @ArbitrFIFA 4 года назад

    What I didn’t like: 1. Approaching the camera worsens the perception of speed. A good view was with a slight approximation and the view of the driver. 2. In places where the train has been standing for a long time (the first hour of the video), you could cut out the parking lot. And so a waste of time no matter what. The parking lots are large.
