    I hope the tank stayed together but as a hobbyist I HAD to come say that yes the t bars were absolutely for structural integrity. If it was just for the light and tip, it wouldn't have the t bars on the bottom. NEVER remove these cross bars/t bars if you plan on using it as intended and filling it completely. Bigger (55 gallon+) and curved tanks need that extra support or they can leak, crack or collapse entirely. I imagine the slight water submersion takes some of the gravity/weight compared to it sitting full on a stand inside. The anesthetic is INCREDIBLE with this idea! Gorgeous!

    Looks brilliant!
    I am planning to completely drain my in-ground pond later this month (need to get the allotment planted up before I tackle this), move my filter box & uv unit & install a new waterfall too - I've bought a large, deep & sturdy inflatable pool to house my fish temporarily.
    I am plagued with blanket weed (despite having treated it already) so it's going to be scrubbed clean & hopefully have a fresh start for this summer. I have noticed that since stopping the pond clay treatment last October that the blanket weed has increased 😳 so it seems the clay does have an inhibiting effect.
    Happy ponding 👍👍👍

    • @KoiPondLifestyle
      @KoiPondLifestyle  2 года назад +1

      Hiya, thanks for that. Good luck with your deep cleaning. I have been told that the clays do reduce the growth of blanket weed. Another reason why I'm keen to get my clay in early spring to catch any early growth? I've also found that if I catch blanket weed early with a smaller dose it seem to hold it off and not make as much of a mess in the filters. Here's a vid I made of smaller dose.. ruclips.net/video/-1JcPo7tT2g/видео.html

    Could you please do a trial when filling the upside down aquarium. I've been planning to use pvc pipes to create a venturi thus sucking air from the aquarium to fill it up with water. The venturi is really just a pvc tee with an inlet for water, an inlet for air suction and an outlet for a mixture of air and water. Look it up, it's called venturi pump. It would be a great help if you try that because I don't have a pond yet to do it

    • @KoiPondLifestyle
      @KoiPondLifestyle  Год назад +1

      Hiya, Now there's an idea. I feel a school day coming on.. I've got to refit the Sky Pond soon so will look into the Venturi V's my hose pipe method... Cheers.. 😉👍🤔

    • @nijaad88
      @nijaad88 Год назад

      Great! Awesome! Thank you!
      The trick with the venturi is you need a pvc tee with a smaller diameter reducer. Let's say 3/4 inch tee with a 1/2 inch reducer, you just need to cut the base of a 1/2 inch pipe diagonally and shove it all the way down the tee to restrict water flow. Now the trick is the diagonal hole of the 1/2 inch pipe needs to face opposit the direction of waterflow, if not, water will shoot out the supposed suction pipe.

    • @nijaad88
      @nijaad88 Год назад +1

      For my case, I'm planning that the outlet for water and air stays underwater inside the pond and the inlet comes from filtered water from the waterfall pipe. I will need the suction tube to be permanently fixed inside the aquarium

    Andy you have made a great job of the viewing tank looks great really does. If I may I’d like to suggest to you that you put a bit of hose (split along the length) around the angle at the bottom of the tank, noticed a couple of your koi banging against it, wouldn’t want them to get hurt or scraped mate👍

    Absolutely superb Andy👍😊. Liked the old one but love the new one……and so does Clare so I know what’s coming next😂🤣👍. Surely some pond product manufacturer is going to see the potential and put something on the market, could be interesting 👍🐟🈲😊

    Should the tank sit a little deeper in water so when water dips a bit it won't empty back into pond?

    • @KoiPondLifestyle
      @KoiPondLifestyle  Год назад

      Yes, I place mine around 2 inches under water so it keeps its vacome even when the water level fluctuates a bit..😉🤣

    i wonder ....does it has to be waterproof on top of the fishtank ?? bad if air comes in on top of glass ?

    • @KoiPondLifestyle
      @KoiPondLifestyle  9 месяцев назад

      Hiya, the tank has to be air tight so no air can be pulled into the tank or the tank won't keep its vacuum..😉👍

    You say about weight but what alot of people don't realise with viewing towers is you only have weight of the tank as you don't get water weight like an aquarium as the bottom is open not sealed as you would have with an aquarium

      i was sort of thinking the same

    • @jyhicks
      @jyhicks 6 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, the weight is still just the tank, the water is supported in the pond still.

    Lot of repeats on in that man cave 🤣, a classic KPL episode though this one👍 Two corner weight distribution definitely was the way to go Andy, looks great Mate like it a lot

      Glad you enjoyed it. Well spotted with the foreground repeats..😉. Just pleased it worked ok as I was a little concerned with the weight hanging off the side of the pond...🤔👍😉

    Absolutely spectacular Andy. Couple of Qs - 1. Do you ever get any trouble from cats/foxes paying it any attention? 2. Re the weight distribution, would you say that 100% of the weight is pushing down vertically on the timber frame of your pond or is there a degree of weight distributed elswhere, e.g. onto the inside wall of the pond itself?

    • @KoiPondLifestyle
      @KoiPondLifestyle  2 года назад +1

      Hiya, glad you enjoyed the video. 1. I've not experienced any wild life as yet paying any attention to the aquarium or the pond which is good news. 2. I can't 100% say where the weight is actually pushing onto but we tried to distribute the weight as evenly through the frame as possible around the 2 corners. I think there would have been more issues if we'd only used one side of the pond to gand the tank...cheers 😉👍

    Nice job and excellent addition to pond. Much better size and shape. Good video will inspire others to do similar. Better start planning for a bigger one now though the way your Koi are growing.
