  • This week I have an issued with my Chagoi Koi when I see raised scales and inflammation on its side that seems to be getting worse.🤔
Filmed over a month period I check and monitor its condition back to health..
I need to take a closer look and see how I can help the fish to recover before it gets infected...😉👍
The Salt I used was cooking salt, not table salt..

Salt paste, and apply for 60 seconds. rinse, apply antiseptic wound cleaner, apply, NT labs propolis, then wound sealer. Job done, you may have to repeat in 3 to 4 weeks time.

Buy a carp fishing mat and koi sock. Get fish out with a sock carp sling bag. Put it on pat out side the pond put some cloth over its eyes face. Put water on the pat put water the fish. Dry the rasied red scales with a cloth. Make sure it’s dry and use a carp care suitably one what seals the scales as it makes it better. All you can do fella .

Hi Andy, I think it's the right choice with a salt bath, I've had a few issues in the past and salt baths work, if you do more baths in the future pop in an air stone as well keep it well oxygenated 👍🏻

@KoiPondLifestyle not really, water tests are spot on and scrapes only showed odd fluke. I can only put it down to waste build up. I got blanket weed really early this year which was too cold to treat and the waste wasn't properly getting to the retro drain due to being caught in the carpet of weed.

    Good luck beastie!
A neighbour's deluxe bengal mog got my sturgeon. Poor sod was too friendly for its own good. It'd put its head out of the water and eat from your hand. The pond was netted but alas the bugger found a 2" hole in the netting at the glass where I couldn't put coping stones and had him. A friendly cat but grr.

It's great to see it getting better mate and salt is great but it can restrict what other treatments you can use in the pond. Jobs a goodun 👍

Looks a bit of a injury wound rather than anything other. I guess keeping the infection down is best.
I've previously increased the redox and reduce DOCs to prevent further infection in more clinical conditions, but not heard of it used much these days.

Don't knock it before you try it!
I read that mixing PP with Vaseline can also be applied topically. I had one fish with a mark/nick/raised scale (but not inflamed) for what seemed like months, I tried a small dab of the Vaseline/PP on the koi and it disappeared after a few weeks to my surprise. Next time I will film it to see if it works again.

Potassium pomanganate. Used alot by farmers in the past to disinfect cattle issues and can be used in ponds. I created a video on it for you to view what we use it for kn the pond. ruclips.net/video/b7nPQYlkwoA/видео.htmlsi=Oan5kux6-ds87ebm

Great video. It’s helpful to see videos like this one on wounds a koi can get and how to treat it. I’ve had several of my koi with raised scales. I wasn’t sure in the beginning how to treat them but I think I sorted it out. I’m glad you included how long it takes them to heal too. When I had to treat similar issues I kept expecting the koi to heal in a week. When they didn’t heal quickly i thought I was doing something wrong or that I wasn’t doing enough. I realize now they just take time to heal and to be patient. Keep the videos coming!!

Thanks for sharing, is the propolis spray you use bee honey ?
Trying to find that specific one on USA Amazon, as I am in the Caribbean and can’t get
    It on my island! Thanks!

    • @KoiPondLifestyle
      @KoiPondLifestyle  3 месяца назад +1

Hiya, Propolis is a resin-like material made by bees from the buds of poplar and cone-bearing trees. Bees use it to build hives, and it may contain beehive byproducts. Propolis seems to help fight against bacteria, viruses, and fungi. It might also have anti-inflammatory effects and help skin heal.😉👍

Hi Andy, sorry to see you having problems with your chagoi , hopefully things will settle and come right, so good to see how you dealt with the problem. Must admit I'm a firm believer in propolis i carry it in my carp fishing equipment for treating any wounds that might be on carp that i catch. Hope you will do a follow-up and let us know how things work out. By the way how are things with your water now?. Gwen 🧓
