Fun fact, while he doesn’t appear in the amalgam comics, X-cutioner is briefly mentioned in the universe as a fusion with Deathstroke named “X-Stroke”.
Not wrong. Carl Denti was a former CIA or SHIELD guy who stole a bunch of random tech from the government's villain evidence lock up to become a mutant hunting vigilante. I only ever saw him twice in fleeting panels, but I remember that. I think some of the tech was alien, even Shi'ar.
I know every figure comes with, "don't put these things in your mouth". What if i cook it first? Now can i put it in my mouth? Does it taste so good that if i ever put it in my mouth i would never want to take it out?
That year he debuted in comicbooks, Marvel ran the gimmick of polybagging the annuals with trading cards of the new characters featured in the story. His is about the best out of all those annuals. Amazing art by Chris Sprouse and a badass Boba Fett-like mean streak in that first appearance. What made X-Cutioner cool is that he'd always spring some weapon or contraprion feom the lore of X-Men to hunt them down.
I'm surprised with how well X-Cutioner articulates, thought he'd just be another traffic cone. Also I'd love a guide/playday for how to elongate the classic X-Men '97 Magneto's torso. I've seen some people use milliput but was curious how you would go about it.
I wish for this line especially, with its slightly more kid friendly appeal, would put some bios or a free comic (or even a mini comic) with each figure
Hey robo. It’s been almost 3 and a half years since you updated us on your Star Wars collection. And as a newer Star Wars collector I’d love nothing more than to see your display and what figures did and didn’t make the cut!
Sharp intro! I, too, know very little about this guy, but he definitely gives off "Megaman X character" vibes. I'm a fan of the show, and looking forward to '97, but I think I'm more excited about a potential 3rd wave for Jubilee, Morph, and whoever else they've kept under wraps.
I only know the name of the story where this guy debuted and almost nothing about him as a character, but I've always dug his name. Plus, he's such an X-cutey! (Sorry) Dug how they did the jacket, and this looks like a good addition to the X-villains shelf, especially as a non-mutant. I'll take it!
For some reason this review and hearing Robo talk about X-men and talking about the design and maybe changing it a bit makes me miss being part of the Fwoosh community really bad.
I don't think I've ever read a comic with this guy in it, but I knew who he was from the old Toybiz figure and the Fleer trading cards. I remember being confused when I read X-Cutioner's Song for the first time (one of my first trade paperbacks in the 90s along with X-Tinction Agenda and, *sigh* , Maximum Carnage) and discovered that the character had nothing to do with that story.
His height might be fine, he clocks in at 6'1", magneto is 6'2", and cyclops is supposed to be 6'3" though they basically never scale him right. Those are minute differences that wouldn't really come across in a hasbro line, but works for me.
Oddly, while I have his first appearance and had his ToyBiz figure, he was when I started to come around to the "maybe the 90s is more style over substance". He's a neat idea, but kind of symptomatic of the era. His weapons and armour are made up of scavenged parts of X-Men adversaries and aliens (Sentinel, Shi'ar, Z'noxx, etc). I believe he was also responsible for Colossus not being able to turn back into normal flesh for a time in the comics leading up to Fatal Attractions.
I was gonna buy a few of these to head swap to the newer painless bodies but I saw some of the older heads don't look right on the newer bodies so I said never mind. i'm still gonna get x-cutioner, goblin queen & headmaster magneto to put in my comic display though because I don't see Hasbro doing comic versions of these anytime soon. Especially x-cutioner because he's not that important of a villain from issues I seen of x-men so i'll take what I can get with x-cutioner.
I love Amazon! I pre-ordered Cyclops, Jean and Nightcrawler from them all when pre-orders went up on Amazon... Kurt came in on the 3rd, Scott came in on the 8th, and apparently Jean comes in today by 9:15pm... I also got lucky in pre-ordering Goblin Queen after the initial pre-orders went up and she ain't coming in until Sunday I've also seen the entire wave of these figures in a couple of Walmarts thus far which is how I got Magneto and X-Cutioner but had I known Amazon was going to drag they ass around I wouldn't have pre-ordered
Only the second X-cutioner figure, ever. First was the original pale green colors (original, re-released in dark green/blue colors) with the removable hood that had a cloth flap down to his knees! That was Carl Denti, and I have no idea why that name stuck, but I can’t remember my own phone number! This is supposed to be a new guy, so third(?) X-cutioner I’m aware of. I found him and Prof. Magneto on Saturday. Found the rest of the wave at Walmarts today. Mags is gonna be the peg warmer, likely followed by Cyke. In fact, I had just opened him when I saw you posted a video review, earlier. (Sorry, had plans to watch Smaug, already, and dinner was cooking!) I don’t think mine will keep his red curtain sash. It blocks too much movement, imo. I do think the non-spear stick is like the Klingon painstik’s, or what the TVA uses in MCU’s Loki and Deadpool+Wolverine.
I have an odd fascination with this character. I was deep into comics back then, but for some reason never knew of this character until recently. Its such a cool design though. I like the more blue color scheme that is seen in the comics, however.
I rewatched xmen 97. And i noticed that little plastic clear part that covers the tip of the gun in the packaging, is actuall a part of the gun in the show. So make sure no to lose that part
found the whole wave at meijers of all places, passed on x-cutioner and magneto, but after seeing this i'll probably pick him up too... my only gripe with this series so far, is the weird neon pinky orange they used for everything. and by that i mean jean and not jean's hair, kurt's vest, xcutioners drapes... gambit's armor was a little more pinky than orange... i know it's cartoon based, but it's just TOO bright and throws everything off a little too much when it's contrast against black and tan... which accounts for like most of the figures.... but then again, i guess thats what everything looked like in 97.. hasbro knew they COULD make everything neon, but never questioned if they SHOULD lol..
I'm not seeing a pinky orange, it's definitely a red. In fact, I opened up Nightcrawler last night and stood it next to the old one, it's just barely a shade brighter than the red of the original.
If Hasbros can put out this Grand Dragon killer of Mutants, with what amounts to a hardened hoodie, then Cobra Commander's "mask" should be a no-brainer.
I don't know if I'll get this, but I have to say, I am impressed with the engineering and have a MUCH warmer perception of the figure than when I just kind of saw preview pictures and assumed Hasbro would be lazy with him.
You can find him in the GAMBIT solo comic series where a detective finds the suit and uses it to solve hard cases when he comes across the Cajun who then have a great high speed fight, so for me he's a GAMBIT rogue gallery addition
Awesome review Robo 🥰 you already review him I recomend checking his 1st appearance he look much awesome 🤩 like you I want to get him as well and not the rest of the wave but I love his 1st appearance so much I am holding back and praying they might release that version 🙏 great job keep it up brother 🥰
There isn’t much to know about the character I don’t think he has appeared in more than a handful of issues, I guess that is what makes him a good pull for a cartoon lol.
Hey Robo, I believe this character was introduced in one of the annuals from the early 1990s. He was introduced during that small Legacy Virus arc that happened after the X-Cutioners Song arc (the one where Stryfe comes in full swing on the Summers family). He's a mutant mercenary, iirc. He fought the X-Men trying to get to Mastermind, who was dying from the Legacy Virus (whom the X-Men had taken in to comfort during his final moments). (I actually read all of this just recently while reading some of the older comics from before my time lol).
I personally feel people come in different shapes and sizes so it doesn't make sense to expect them to scale the same. Some people have small necks or heads . Puck is short but is built like a linebacker.
Great review always make me laugh and inform me yeah man I looked around for Nightcrawler I have all the 1st wave and just really want him stores by me are lame (ordered on Amazon got some stands so free postage 👺) Goodwill is my gold mine though I don’t sell anything only buy what I really like found Deadpool Diamond Select in a $3.49 bag of toys
Fun fact, while he doesn’t appear in the amalgam comics, X-cutioner is briefly mentioned in the universe as a fusion with Deathstroke named “X-Stroke”.
That's pretty interesting. The fusion with Deathstroke sounds awesome, but the name almost doesn't sound right, lol.
I thought Slade was crossed with Silver Sable(?) for that lady mercy book?
(Selina + Elektra = CatSai)

I just watched episode 2 of X-Men 97 that that plastic that covers the gun is not supposed to be removed it's part of its design😅
A single Marvel legend review from Robo. What a very rare occasion 😂
I know every figure comes with, "don't put these things in your mouth". What if i cook it first? Now can i put it in my mouth? Does it taste so good that if i ever put it in my mouth i would never want to take it out?
They really went above and beyond for a very mediocre character

Yeah, the height ended up not being a problem at all, but the head size makes it stick out.
The bigger question is what is that Space Ghost?
I would be so tempted to customize this into Reaper from Overwatch
I think Hasbro already made one
@@Nin_the_ShinobiNot a good one.
He is meant to be a regular human, so it makes sense he's a bit shorter than all the supers.
