The only thing that the old Lilandra head has over the new one is that the tattoos are more visible, which is better honestly. But the photoreal on the new one is way better of course

I gotta say, $50 is a lot for Lilandra, but that brood Wolverine accessory is above and beyond so I think it balances out.
Lilandra is such a versatile figure!!! Fits perfect in a Marvel or He-Man or D&D or Fortnite collection! Hahaha! XD It's so cool!
My goodness, that Lilandra face print is gorgeous. Now I'm really looking forward to picking her up and throwing a majestic cloth cape on her. Thanks for the review!

What's crazy is that all the promo pics had the wrong mask color and I didn't see it until it was in my hands.

I like your custom Brood-verine head probably better than the stock version, myself, but the standard version isn't bad at all, and hey, articulated jaw... 😅
As you pointed out, this particular iteration of Wolverine was extremely brief, so I don't really have a place to display just him with his comic cover... (although, if I decided to do a comic cover recreation display, that's on the list, lol)...
So, since this figure, cool as it may be, is basically a one off type of deal, I decided to create a background story for him in the vein of the GOOD Uncanny X-Men type of stories from back in the day, and created an origin story...
Basically, the Brood had managed to get samples of Wolverine's DNA, and planned to create an entire army of Brood-verine warriors to wipe out the X-Men and then the rest of their enemies... They wanted the powers and abilities of Wolverine, but under the control of a Brood mind, so they set about creating their perfect Brood warriors, in a remote outpost facility, located hidden in the remains of the outer Kree Empire, now under Shi'ar control...
The experiment was costing the Brood dearly, in terms of scientists, security personnel, and resources, to the point that Deathbird was made aware of the numerous ships coming in and out of that remote area of space, and so with her curiosity piqued and being bored with her every day role of ruling the Kree portion of the Shi'ar Emperium, she opted to personally investigate the situation and if necessary, aprise Empress Lilandra of anything significant.
Once she arrived, with herself and a security contingent, and discovered the outpost location, they breached the facility in an attempt to quietly infiltrate and investigate... unfortunately, they were quickly overrun by site security and scientists, running for their lives and being pursued by Brood-verine clones... the facility personnel reached their safe room and sealed themselves in before quickly gassing everyone else outside their safe room, including Deathbird and her guards... once the crisis was averted, and the clones were quickly collected and destroyed, the site administrators realized they had either a very big problem or a very large bargaining chip for more, much needed, resources... end prelude.
Flash forward, and Lilandra has gotten word that her sister has disappeared, and has assembled a squad to rescue her sister, and has been accompanied by the Starjammers, who believe that their missing cargo may also have been hijacked and delivered to the same facility where Deathbird and her guards are being held, and intend to recover it while helping rescue Deathbird...
Meanwhile, inside the facility, the Brood scientists are in the process of destroying the last of their Wolverine clones and terminating the experiment because they haven't been able to control even ONE clone and they're running out of expendable security troops and valuable scientists... except that there's ONE clone that was implanted with the Brood Egg and successfully stopped the transformation mid-way, giving them the Wolverine clone with a Brood intelligence controlling things... However, the Brood intelligence was "corrupted" by Wolverine's nature and sense of honor, and so didn't want to be a weapon for the Brood...
Suddenly, the Shi'ar warships engage the outpost facility, pounding the defensive stations and taking out all weapons and defenses, before sending in the Imperial Guard operatives and Shi'ar troops to rescue Deathbird... while simultaneously, the Starjammers begin a similar attack position to recover their stolen cargo and whatever else they may take as compensation for the theft of said cargo...
As the facility is pounded by the joint Shi'ar and Starjammer assault, the Brood-verine clone makes his timely escape under cover of the confusion and chaos, stowing himself alongside the recovered Starjammer cargo...
With Deathbird and the cargo liberated from the Brood outpost, the Shi'ar and Starjammers eradicate the remains of the outpost base and depart... At some point during the journey back, an unfamiliar bio-sign is detected in the hold of the Starjammer and Ch'od, Raza, & Binary are sent to investigate, where they discover their stowaway and the obligatory battle ensues, eventually culminating with the Brood Warrior revealing that he isn't interested in fighting them or creating a problem, but is instead trying to escape a death sentence as a failed experiment... So, he reveals his origins and tells the Starjammers about the Brood experiment, and asks that they just drop him off on some remote planet where no one would ever find him, and leave him to a life of solitude where he doesn't have to worry about being hunted or hurting anyone...
After informing Corsair of the situation, he relays the details of the Brood plan to Empress Lilandra, who promptly sends a ship with the Imperial guard to confirm that the facility and everything within it, has been obliterated thoroughly, and if not, to finish the job before returning to the Shi'ar Imperium... Gladiator and his squad of Imperials carry out their orders and return a short time later with confirmation of total destruction...
In the meantime, Corsair and Lilandra have discussed their options and not wanting the Brood-verine clone to be left alone someplace in a self-imposed exile, nor to be found and forced to become the weapon he wishes to avoid, by nefarious forces, they present an offer to be a joint member of both the Starjammers crew, as well as a provisional member of the Imperial Guard, where he can be trained in the uses of his powers and abilities, and learn more about where he comes from, as well as learning to become a member of a team, but more importantly, the value of being part of a family rather than a weapon or "failed" experiment... and so, he is dubbed "Broodzerker"...
(And since he's now his own guy, the brown and black mask works as it's own thing without needing to be comic accurate...)
Now, depending upon how I may choose to display him, I can have either an additional Starjammers team member, or a new member of the Imperial Guard...!
You're welcome to use the idea and origin for your own Brood-verine, as well, if you like it and are so inclined... 😅
I know some people won't like the idea because it isn't "canonical" to the X-Men, but that's okay with me, because I feel like a significant amount of X-Men "canon" in the past decade or more has been pure $#!t, so to each his own... Like I said, his origin story was intended to be more in line with the Claremont/Byrne era/style of story telling, where the X-Men were actually FUN to read... Unlike this newer woke $#!t that's an absolute chore to try and get through, issue after woke @$$ issue... 🤨🙄😑😑😑
As for Lilandra... I like this new figure very well, and very happy to finally have an official full figure of her, and to be joined by Warlord Xavier later on... I would ALSO like to see another version of Lilandra in her blue leotard and thigh high boots, without helmet, so we can have a proper classic version of her for our Starjammers team...!
As for the head that came with the Walgreens exclusive Mystique figure, I like it too, and have created one of her alternate design looks using either a Silver Sable or the Jacosta body (can't remember which, at the moment...🤔), with a Black Knight cape, a Namor trident, a few other odds and ends, and a little bit of black paint... It does the job for one of her less familiar looks.
C'mon Hasbro give us a Brood figure already!

This is the most pleasant surprise for me. Brood Wolverine isn't something I ever had on my want list but it's a cool unique idea that feels like Legends is made for and I could never imagine getting a single card release. Plus all that sculpt and paint for something that'll never get reused? Props to Hasbro. I get its not for everyone, but ngl, if I saw a bunch on ebay for like $10, it could make a weird cool army builder what-if.

I love this boxset and I’m an equally nostalgic X-men buff. My only nitpick is that I wish Hasbro used slightly softer plastic goods akin to Storm Collectables for capes/costumes. I love Wolverines “pigsticker” claws that definitely takes me back

Lilandra's cape is plugged in to the back and doesn't look too bad when unplugged in case you want the figure in lower poses. I like Brood Wolverine a lot but something looked a little off. It's definitely the head color being brown that you pointed out.
I still think she would have better off been only a single release but I understand that it is Logan's aka Wolverine's birthday, However, Lilandra is still very cool and kids don't you ever put any of these fun toys in your mouth, Thank you for the review Robo.

The articulated jaw on Brood Wolverine is cool, if they get around to Brood Thor, it would be dope if they did the same there.
I wish Wolverine had Broodified shoulders as well, it's a bit distracting for me.
But the star of the show is Lilandra. I don't really care that much about her as a character, but I feel like I just need her with Xavier. They're not even a thing for 99% of my comic reading life, but there's just something classic about them. Random alien and sci-fi stuff in comics is just so... retro. Like random sword & sorcery annuals. Now, please... Hasbro... give us Deathbird!

Psylocke in her second worst costume next to the Jim Lee gear or the Princess Majestrix of the Shi'ar Empire is a no-brainer!
7:23 Oof the eyes on the old head are the deal-breakers for me. It's Proportions 101 that the pupils should be in line with the corners of the mouth, and in the case of the old head (and many of the 2010s Legends, really), the pupils are nowhere close.
I don't care for Lilandra but seeing the massive improvements on the new release is tempting me into getting her just because she looks like a fun design for the display.
Glad they sold these two together cuz I never cared about either of these characters or the Brood. But you almost sold me on them honestly.

So far I've only picked up the Sabretooth set since getting a solid version of Victor Creed for my shelf has been one of my major wants for a few years now. This one for me is an easy skip since I've never had much interest in Lilandra or Brood Wolverine for my shelf.
That being said I am pretty tempted by that Psylocke set, I'm not super attached to Psylocke and I don't have any version of her in my collection, but that just looks like an awesome figure that would stand out alongside the other X-Men villains.

I’m rereading Uncanny X-Men for the first time in years, and I’ve got a scorcher of a take: I think the Brood Saga is better than the Dark Phoenix Saga. That final twist with Xavier having secretly been a Brood for a long time is just awesome storytelling
Brother Robo. As I was watching I noticed those bracers on Lilandra's arms are not new they are from the Quake figure. I had to grab Quake to make sure and they are the same just different colors. Great review. I need a Brood army builder set. I waited to get your review before opening mine. You let me know what I need to be careful of.

I absolutely DESPISED the swirl and the twirl on the Ironman and almost everything else for a while...I don't know if I'm just resigned to it or if they're getting better at it? ...but as I compare..I think they're getting better at the effect/look etc
