I'm a little older than Joe but have no problems respecting the man. His record speaks for itself. His demonstrated love for his family and the steadfast loyalty to his planes and the people he serves in the north speaks for it's self. Happy birthday Joe and welcome home.
I met the lady Stearman pilot in Arlington Washington when I helped push her plane back into the hanger after her performance at the fly in there, very cool experience for me, beautiful plane, nice lady. She knows my brother as they have both raced at the Reno Air Races.
57 years ago at the age of 23 I did my first flight in a DC3. Coming strait off light aircraft like Dh82 Tiger Moth bi- planes & Cessnas etc with no experience of twin Engine Constant Speed Props, or Retractable gear & 10 hours night experience it was a big jump into the deep end & I was only one of 5 in our group with the same experience. ( We prayed the Capt wouldn't drop dead for the first year - after that he was fair game.) :o) Six years on the DC3 & 1,600 hours later I went on to all sorts up to Airbus. BTW Nearly all my DC3 flying was with Cyclone R1820's 9 cylinders (same power as the Pratts.)
Glad to see Joe gets to keep doing what he loves. I'm a year older than him and in the same ballpark health wise. The only real difference is that I've been retired nearly ten years now and it's the best job I've ever had!
What I dont get is you get trained pilots comming to buffalo and then not flying for months because they have to drive parcels about the place. So their flying skills get rusty. Surely you want a current pilot to fly. I dont get their philosophy at all!!
A Lot of the time it is to weed out the wannabes and overnighters. The cost to certify a pilot on type is significant and many over the years at nearly all places have got there ratings on the company and then promptly left to work for some one else. I have seen it alot before so places like Buffalo use ramp work as a way to teach the ground operations and then hopefully anyone still around is the real deal. Joe said it himself in one of the clips, he needs 6 months minimum from them if he is to give them a check ride.
@kiwidiesel yes that makes sense but can really understand how the rampys feel. Maybe they should be told they have at least 6months ground work or have to sign a contract that obliges them to work for at least 2yrs.
@@markclark-lewis2600 I absolutely agree but speaking from experience i can assure you this is very much the culture in commercial aviation for anyone starting out. It has a very dark cut throat competitive side no ever sees unless you have been there.
This has got to be the one of the worst companies ever as far as concern for the employees. No one deserves to be treated with such disdain by managers. Hostility is an insidious acid that will cause mental illness in extreme cases. I recall all of the USPS and military rage shootings. This is what this company is cooking up. Sometime they are going to eat it.
tell joe to get his self over here . thers a place called [ spa clinic ] where they can give you perfect 20/20 vision in less than 1 hour no pain no discomfort perfect vision .. [dont let the bastards grind you down ] keep in touch regards laurence
I was glad to see that Joe is in good health. However, this show is based in Canada, where we are told that they have a great government-run healthcare system. If Canada has a great healthcare system, why did Joe have to come to the United States (a Mayo Clinic location in Arizona) to get a physical?
@@rickunruh8132 He appeared to simply get a standard, full physical. Couldn't he get the same "advanced tests" under the "great" Canadian government-run health care system?
If you are sick that kind of physical is not covered by state health insurance, because it's extra, there is no treatment.... It's a ctually a check up before the get the real physical from an approved Transport Canada doctor
@@tabstabs1204 so, was Joe's visit to The Mayo Clinic in Arizona covered by the Canadian health care plan? Or, did he have to pay for that himself? I read a great book, Fate is the Hunter, this man is with Ernie Gann, great
Glad your health is good, keep flying.
Congratulations on the years, health and ride in a gorgeous Stearman. Always enjoy the channel and people at Buffalo.
Nice episode. Thanks !!! 😎👍 🇨🇦
A man amongst men
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOE!! Glad it was a good one!!
Such an Icon!! God Bless Joe !!! Happy Landing’s
Fifty years of flying. You can't complain about that.
Fit as a fiddle, light up Joe! He could pass for an Aussie on a dark night, thats how much respect we have for him as a man and a pilot.
"Birthday parties are a social function people do ... " words of a man who knows the lessons of life. His perspective is always a bit above the usual.
I agree with him. I have never had any interest in social functions like that either. I even like to spend Christmas on my own.
Very intelligent and respectable man.
Happy birthday Joe I wish you all the best in the world
I grew up just a few miles from McClellan AFB where Joe took the ride on the steerman
Was that a Bronco and a TS Aerostar in the closing filming of this video
I admire Buffalo Joe , and I wish him happy birthday and many more

From one old coot to another: Good on yuh mate, as long as y'cn still put in a boot full of rudder, y're doin' OK.
Happy birthday Mr. Joe!
So glad to see that Joe is healthy. Now he can get back home to enjoy what he does best.
Happy birthday, Joe.
I took my helicopter check ride on zero sleep. Adrenaline saved the day.
I believe Vicki Benzing flew joe around! She’s a smooth flyer!!!
Happy Birthday Joe! All the best.

Since Canada has universal health care why did Joe go all the way to the Mayo clinic in AZ for his physical exams?
Yep his medical is the way they do it
How about a clickbait headline of "Buffalo Joe could be run over by a bus" ?

NOT INFORMATION ABOUT SEASSON OR CHPTER ?
The sick kid couldn’t wait to tell everyone how sick he was.
Did Mikey see RUclips for Vertigo Cure?
Letting the young trainee wear a Soviet Union hammer and sickle hat probably wasn't the best idea.
This was 2014. A time when you were free to wear any hat you wanted, unlike today.
Happy birthday joe
Number one expense for the check ride is fuel and aviation fuel is not cheap
How old is this episode ? I'm guessing 10 years. Joe moved away years ago......
This Episode ist one from the Last season 2014
moved away to where? You mean quit flying?
While I dislike, Joe I'm very glad to see his physical resulted in a thumbs up.
well im 69 and you can keep that snow and ice. ill stay here.
So, how do those kids pay for their initial flight training before they start at Buffalo?
40K minimum in Ireland for flight school

Sam was suffering from MOA, Manifestation of Apprehension that made him nervous and sick before he could take his DC-3 Checkride. 🤢🥵🤮💩
Well, not sure if it is a good idea to have a Pilot leaving nasty stuff over Dash and Instruments and takes a Shoot out the Door to get to the Loo.
I lke watching Audrey go "yee-hah!!" on evey intro. I wonder whatever happened with her in her aviation career?

Hey ho let's go!
The copyright of this program is 2014 .. 8 years old and I think I read a story that said that Joe McBryan died a couple of years ago.
Dr. Ben Dover

From what I understand he simply can't be executive director anymore but nothing legally stopping him from being an employee (in his case a pilot)

Suspend his license and give our ozone layer a break.
No. His license will be immortal.
you can suspend his license but the dc3 will out live us all
So you have never flown never been in a car or a bus must lead a sheltered life but if you have what about you, you leave the ozone layer a break
You did more harm to the ozone layer with your infantile comment. Go play with something poisonous you silly child.
Carly can you do the climate a favor and just never breathe oxygen again?
