    The Swedish school situation sounds like a surreal fever dream. I couldn't imagine growing up, being forced to be feminine. I'm concerned for the girls as well, being forced to be masculine. That sounds like a sure-fire way to cause at least some confusion, if not lifelong problems.

    I actually had an experience with this not long ago, when my girlfriend ridiculed me and my friends for being competitive in school and sports because we enjoy it and it's in our nature, but she insisted that we are 'just upsetting people' and that it wasn't masculinity. I then proceeded to mention how most guys I know are the same but sadly she just insulted me fore generalising people of my own gender even though I was just pointing out common traits. The last thing was that she told me to give up on competition entirely because winning may upset the losers, which basically meant I had to give up on what I wanted to do in life. Long story short I broke up with her over this.

      @@3therea11 I personally believe that toxic masculinity exists but I don't understand why people are saying that masculinity in general is toxic. Masculinity is a good thing and is an essential part of society. I think the real toxic masculinity isn't about the things he's talking about. My definition is shaming other men for not acting "masculine" obviously there isn't anything wrong with acting extremely masculine but shaming someone for not being masculine is wrong. There's also things that society states isn't masculine even though it has nothing to do with any non masculine traits.
      Things like makeup, skincare, and fashion have nothing to do with masculine or feminine traits whatsoever.
      The true toxic masculinity isn't acting masculine but it's shaming others for not acting masculine and telling others that something that isn't masculine or feminine isn't masculine.
      And to the people that think that masculinity is toxic in general just remember that there are no sexist feminists there are only sexists that think they're feminists.

Pretty much cinches it when you are demeaned that much by the so called Elites that you're just a womb man. Toxic nullity seems more apt since they don't want us to be anything.

Everyday I see men being cursed at for being courteous and having the gall to open a door for a woman yet as a woman I will open the door for everyone, yet no one says anything to me, and it's also funny how when anything dangerous happens women are ready to push the man in front of them as they run to hide but decry a man for trying to be protective. I have been a fighter for women's liberation and equality from I was a teenager back in the sixties, but there was one thing that we need to understood: we may all be human and thus equal but a woman and a man are not the same, we are biologically different. "Masculinity does far more good than bad for everyone, both men and women" - what a fabulous and undeniably true observation!! Women who act as if men - and masculinity - are superfluous are deluding themselves. Sadly, the rise of militant feminism has resulted in men feeling as though they're unnecessary. Too many women who profess to believe the t-shirt slogan "A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle." end up raising fatherless children with no positive male role models. Humans were meant to pair up and share child-rearing responsibilities, and typically that pair is made up of a male and a female. Arguably this is the best way to rear children who will grow up to become well-rounded adults, especially if they've witnessed the positive, loving interaction of their parents throughout their formative years. Studies show girls raised without a father often chose terrible partners, and boys raised without a father more often become terrible partners. Of course there are exceptions but this proves the rule.
    Men think like men because their brain is different than the female brain in function and structure, and we need to champion this instead of trying to change it...especially since it is biologically immutable. Sensitivity and caring are not solely feminine traits, nor are courage and assertiveness solely masculine. But trying to make men act less masculine is a fool's errand, and truly DAMAGING to humanity, as Aaran so succinctly explains in this awesome presentation.

A friend of mine was called toxic for simply being nice by holding the door for someone. It's a term that has no true meaning, but is up to the interpretation of the lunatic using it and by people who may find a masculine hobby threatening or intimidating out of fear or lack of understanding. I always understood the concept of "toxic masculinity" as societal pressure on man to be traditionally manly - not as man beeing toxic. As an example: fathers not beeing able to say "I love you" to their children in order of not beeing vulnerable or man feeling unable to open up about sexual harassment, feeling like they should have wanted it anyway is toxic masculinity at its best, putting man not in the role of the aggressor but as the victim of toxic masculinity.

    • @maryamalammary
      @maryamalammary Год назад

      yeah and that's it i don't think anyone's refuting men & women are biologically different? because that's out of the argument 🤷‍♂️ it's the reason why men suicide rates are so high. men don't speak about their mental health because that's being 'weak' & for some reason 'weak' goes hand in hand with 'feminity' which is just wrong. not speaking about how u feel & just suppressing your emotions will eventually lead to suicide! that's toxic masculinity. Literally no one's says being 'masculine' is 'bad'

    • @GamingOnABout
      @GamingOnABout Год назад +1

      @@maryamalammary it's kind of short sighted to blame all suicide rates on men not expressing their feelings, because "it looks weak". Men in general just don't get the same support in everyday life has women do, and it doesn't help that most men growing up are touch and empathy starved without even knowing it, all the way well into adulthood.
      I was completely shaken up by one friend of mine who gives people hugs before and after hanging out with people. After a year of knowing her, she had hugged me more times than everyone combined in my entire life before hand, I had no idea how to handle my emotions, was completely unprepared, and at first it honestly really scared me. She really put into prospective what a good supportive friend is like.
      I've since slowly grown a lot as a person, have acquired many more amazing friends, and have learned how to open up more, but not every guy is lucky like me to have that warming experience. Being a man can be a very cold, incredibly isolating, despondent, and lonely experience, while being all painfully normalized to the point a lot of men don't even know HOW to be vulnerable to begin with. I for a long time didn't, nor even understood it was suppose to be a "normal" thing.

    • @maryamalammary
      @maryamalammary Год назад

      @Blaize m yes you're certainly correct, & that's toxic masculinity. Toxic masculinity can be boiled down to BUT NOT ONLY anything a man 'can't do' simply because it's 'feminine'. Men's mental health is a joke, no one cares about it because everyone just expects a man to be a 'man' which merely wrong & here you experienced it 1st hand. You're supposed to be able to hug and talk to your men friends always, not only women friends. I had a dude vent to me about his break up after 2 years & he told me how he couldn't talk to his friends about it because he was just supposed to 'get over it' ??????? that's toxic masculinity, why don't men emotionally support their friends? u should be able to talk about these topics with your men friends without it being 'cheesy' or 'sensitive'
      another example i see 2nd hand is when my younger brother cries & is immediately told to stop because boys don't cry from my father ?
      my brother loves cars, but he also likes mlp (my little pony) though he is also 'embarrassed' to tell his friends he does because it's 'girly'
      you're right all these complications are PLANTED into men through out to adulthood which IS WRONG; that's toxic masculinity. The dude in the vid completely missed the point of toxic masculinity, men aren't toxic but THEYRE told from childhood to be emotionless, are not provided with a support system which results in toxic masculinity. Just like you & any other man really who is willingly open to improve & grow will hopefully be able to learn that toxic masculinity is wrong 👍you need to be provided the resources, from other men & not only women.

      Women are already shamed for it. Some cultures force women to wear certain type of clothing to cover their entire bodies. Some countries, including the US, do not provide women with a decent paid maternity leave. Like, you torn your lady parts to pieces while pushing a human out of them and now have trouble even standing up? Sucks to be you! Now go and work! Those are just a couple of examples of "official" shaming I could think of on the spot. There is a lot more psychological shaming in our everyday lives. I can't even count how many times men made me feel inferior just for being softer and less loud (even though I didn't even need to be tough to do my job, it was literally just them being convinced that men are superior to women). Those are the things men just can't see, and it's really hard to explain, it's the most frustrating thing in the world, and it has exploded in the shitshow that is third way feminism.

    • @j4nk3n
      @j4nk3n 5 лет назад +60

      @@lavenzaa it's individual companies that decide what they are willing to pay as maternity leave, same with this pay gap buisness, some companies Fuck people over and some give equal pay for equal work, as for having your private parts torn open, well, it's in most cases you decide to have a child yourself, I can't say all cases as we all know about unsafe sex, and the abortion argument, but don't adults generally sit down and say "hey we want children, so while we do that and don't come in to work with torn lady parts, pay us?" Obviously as the next generation is fundamental to the continuation of the human species, concessions are made to allow people to have families without it being too much of a problem, which is how it should be! And as a man I do understand, I like to see all angles of these arguments, humans can be really shitty cess pools, and they can be compassionate hero's, there's both in any demographic, as for seeing the other half of a story, I worked at a company where a woman got a job as a secretary, and after she secured the job after her initial trial period she let slip she was pregnant and she only took the job to get the maternity pay, and legally my boss was lumbered with paying up, you think that's fair? Men, women, and all these sexes in between can be Equally as cunning and happy to trample over the next person to get what they want, obviously they are the minority, but it's the minority that becomes the focus, it's a sad world we live in, I'd even go as far as to say it's going up shit creek without a paddle, and a boat, oh and no life jackets either.

My workplace has 4x more men than women (since they aren't forced to hire anyone in particular) this might be an anecdotal evidence but I have seen a lot of white collar workplaces in asia and most of them are the same and if it's the case for white collar jobs I'm sure blue collar jobs have an even higher number of male jobs.

    I've been in moments where I've tried to help others, but have been just looked at with disgust due to my gender. All my life I was raised to treat people with the utmost kindness and respect, however hearing people undermine me due to me being a male sucks, I once had a dream to work at weddings, I love decorating and cooking and all that stuff so I really wanted to be apart of that, but after working at a wedding place a couple of times I gave it up, at the time I was a decorator and helped design dresses, I was a teenager at the time so i had all the time to work on that craft. The amount of times I heard "Oh dont listen to him, hes a man, and not even gay" or have people go and talk to a women that didnt know anything about what they wanted only because I was a man, it devastated me. Soon after I gave up on designing and wanting to a part of weddings. Recently I dated this girl and he family was in that business, and I decided that I wanted to give it another try, one of the days i worked there I remeber hearing a woman telling her friend that they didnt want to "Ask a man cause he probably was clueless" and it hurt a lot. I gave up on it again. These arent the only times I've given up on something due to my "Maleness" something I cant change, I've given up on designing clothes, dresses, one of which I actually made for my sister for prom and everyone kept making jokes about how bad it must've been, I gave up on make up, hair and some forms of art. It's kinda funny now cause a lot of people mistake me for a woman with a mask, but when they find out I'm a guy, they treat me differently, hell the most sexism I've experienced in the past year was due to female coworkers saying how much they hated men and that all men do certain things. My coworker now believes all men want sex all the time, that all men masturbate vigorously, and that all men are aggressive, hell shes believes that if a women says no women friends then you should stop being friends with a women, and if you have female friends you are probably fucking them or wanting to fuck them and that having one is a red flag unless your gay. She even comments when me and another coworker talk about women saying "it's funny seeing you guys talk about women considering you both arent" like men cant have empathy or know how social constructs work or have a simple understanding of basic human decency. It's really shitty and it genuinely fuckin sucks. I've experienced other men telling me to "Man up" and honestly it was for the better, I was a rather sensitive person and if they wouldnt have been more hard on me I'd probably never be able to live in society today, I'm still a gentle person but I'm not as sensitive to insults, which works cause honestly sometimes I wish I wasnt a man, the worst part being that sometimes I dont feel right in my body, I feel like since I'm more gentle and on the feminine side I shouldnt be in a mans body, I dont desire to be a woman, but I also sometimes am tired of having to be what people think is a man. It sucks. Seeing people walk past me as I'm struggling in every way, having past partners discredit my opinions cause im a man, having my feelings on them doing something they knew I wasnt comfortable with being seen as controlling, and being beaten and then having people ask what I did to deserve it.. sometimes I just wish that i wasnt born the way i was cause it sucks, and it hurts, and it doesnt stop hurting. I have a son, and I genuinely hope he turns out to be nothing like me cause his life will be easier that way.

      I'm so sorry that you had to go all through this. People shaming you for doing your job because you like it, is very disheartening. Most of the people misinterpret what masculinity is and that is what you have faced till now. Each person is born different and has different interests, hobbies, opinions and a way of life. And you also lived your life that way. I assure you that there's nothing wrong in it. I won't say you not to care about what other people say, because I know that in the end we all are humans, who feel hurt because of active or passive shaming, insults, bullying, etc. I will say that you must not regret for you, being yourself. You are not the one at fault for being passionate about your work, hobbies and other things. You have never been at fault for having feelings, emotions, kindness, and compassionate behaviour. If you are true to yourself, you must never give up. The society and the people are at fault for treating you like this. My friend, don't regret for being born like that because I feel like you are a wonderful person. I will say again, always be true to yourself, and never give up. People will say many things; get back at them, so that they hesitate for commenting on you. It will take some time, courage and determination, but it is the thing that will give you confidence, morale boost and a feel of comfort. And as for your son, give him a proper education and give him proper life advices time to time, teach him how to differentiate between good and bad, treat him good and don't shame him for his mistakes, rather try to understand him. Restriction and protection is needed but try not overdo it. Listen to him too.Your relationship with him will not be always perfect, but your teachings and his understanding will make a balanced and healthy relationship between you two. I don't how old he is but all this will make him a great man with his utmost repect for you and he will be or is proud to have a father like you. I hope I could comfort you you with my trivial words and encouragement. Have a nice day!

They're petty little narcissists that didn't have the privilege of growing up. Overconfident damaged people that are trampling today's society. Don't let them belittle who you are and give them the privilege to effect your mood and how you feel. We are the only persons who can directly dictate how we feel. Let me tell you this; people say many things and judge all the time. We shouldn't ignore everything cuz some of it is the truth. But by what you're saying those little girls know nothing of what it is to be stoic, brave, loyal, noble and strong. I also have both feminine and masculine traits. We all do. And I embrace both. I can be savage and daring but I can also be compassionate and caring. Be authentic and show your best self. And a good way to start that is by starting to practice stoicism and self improvement. Become stronger everyday and inspire that strength to your kid and everyone around you! We need strength more than ever! Fight for strength! Fail better everyday! Like you mentioned, people may like stuff that you or others around you may judge as shitty, and you can learn much more when broadening the exposure, even though sometimes people or trolls may judge you harshly. The roads of the US (the major ones that connect us) were ancient causeways groomed by Native American cultures. (source - "An Indiginous Peoples' History of the US" by Dunbar-Ortiz) ... But that aside, men are wonderful. Beacons of hard work and the fruits it bears, among other things. However there is an ugly underbelly, as is so with femininity ~ we (women) just haven't had enough power for that to matter very much, beyond in personal life. Women have contributed so much to this society that has gone unnoticed (for better or worse, like a glue holding it together in the bloodbath of colonization, always silently advancing us forward socially, intellectually, and personally). That story, of women, has been retold and reshaped, and stained with shame and degradation as a control tactic. The shaping of our mutual story by men (literally "his"tory) has had profound negative consequences for many people, as groups of people have been defined by rich and powerful ruling men. So yes, we are questioning and demanding to rewrite these definitions. Examining why, and how they came to be. It is okay for us all to acknowledge the negative impact of a male dominated story, so we can grow past it in a new direction. Progress and growth are not easy. There is so much pain and hardship, isolation, brutality, and shame that this male-dominated society has unnecessarily woven into all of our lives, through control of our mutual perspective. (Education, history, and media). This is where I stand, wanting spiritual freedom and the removal of banal limitations for all people. Imagine what we would be capable of, imagine how beautiful life could be. All this said - hard work is necessary. Self discipline and grit are necessary. The warrior spirit is native to this planet. These are qualities that I see as archetypical of healthy* masculinity. But BALANCE is necessary, as many ancient wisdoms affirm. As is obvious, if you look at the bigger picture, and if you look plainly into yourself. Balance of the "masculine" and "feminine" polarity, and a healthy relationship between the two.
