I've recently seen a video of a white _looking_ guy wearing Mexican costumes, hats and a fake mustache. He asked 10 white Americans and they were mostly offended by him "copying others culture". Meanwhile, he went to a Mexican neighborhood, asked 10 Mexicans and all of them liked his costume, none of them was offended.
Or the video where all the white people talk about how it's so hard for black people to get I'd. Yet every black person said it was easy and half of them called those people ignorant. The ones who are oppressed called the people that said there oppressed ignorant just goes to show.

I am literally diagnosed severe OCD, and I love when people make OCD jokes because it makes me fucking happy and id rather be happy then offended by a joke. However being offended does not make you: good, superior, moral, more/better educated or any of the weird perceptions people who jump to declare themselves offended seem to believe. Being offended on behalf of somebody else is foolish. Telling somebody they can't say something because you are offended, makes you mentally and emotionally weak.

I found myself in a tough spot the other day when after almost a year of the guy in the room next to mine shouting out racial, sexual and scatological insults (often at the rest of us in the house) all day long, pretty much every day, I finally snapped. I confronted him and told him stop it or else. Talking with him about it repeatedly had failed to earn the rest of us any consideration. But at the same time, his "freedom of speech" does not mean it's okay to verbally assault others to a torturous level of abuse. There is a wide spectrum of human behaviors, with a lot of room for people to be themselves, but the extremes some people go to are absolutely out of bounds. Due to the limits of my disability, I'm pretty much confined to my room, so I don't really have the option to escape from that kind of abuse, I have to either convince him to stop, or take steps to have him kicked out. I don't think it helps to focus on who has what rights, when the simple truth is that we all need to respect each other and ourselves enough to live healthy, worth-while lives together. That's a problem we all need to deal with without becoming a bigger part of the problem ourselves.
