    Exactly, agreed!!. Teaching is a job and furthermore, One don't have to be save to teach the Word of God "even the devil knows the word of God; BUT a preacher is directed by the Holy spirit to preach & deliver the Word of God which brings life to the new born in disciples -ship, " he must be born again " In this Regards , a preacher is much different from a teacher! Affirm, AMEN!.Mark: 16:15, Jesus command>"go into all the world and PREACH the Gospel: teaching them to observed all things!.

    Preaching actually seems incredibly interesting to me at times I do not think it presently makes a lot of sense for me personally to entertain a pursuit like this for myself but we surely do need significant increase of close to the truth preachers. There is only one God.

    Preaching is exhortation, admonition, encouragement and conviction... all by the Holy Spirit. It touches both the mind and the soul. It moves people off dead center.

    I'm not all that convinced by what Burk Parsons says on this point. He says that preaching brings people to worship. Yes, but so does Christian teaching.

    • @rockhopper01
      @rockhopper01 Год назад +1

      You misheard. He said preaching brings people to Christ, not worship.
      Merely teaching does not bring people to Christ, no more than simply reading the Bible does either.

    • @maxaplin4204
      @maxaplin4204 Год назад +2

      @@rockhopper01 I didn't actually mishear. He said:
      'Preaching has the goal of helping people come to a place of worship.' (about 25 seconds in)
      And he said:
      'Fundamentally preaching involves discipleship and worship, that you are helping people to worship God.' (about 35 seconds in)
      That is really what I said in a few less words.
      I think when Parsons is referring to 'preaching' in this video, he is more thinking about something directed to Christians than to non-believers. The word is used in different ways, in modern Christian circles and in the Bible, which makes discussion of this topic a little more complicated.

    It seems that Jesus did a lot of teaching as well as preaching and the two should not be totally separated from each other since one cannot preach without teaching Content. Both are important: the great commission puts the emphasis on TEACHING!😊

      The difference would be where he preached, the synagogue where He taught outside of the synagogue. That's the difference

      Excellent comment. I was thinking along the same lines, but I can see how the skills to unify a church body and worship as one, would require the type of skills and blessings that a teacher may not possess. So, I agree that preachers should also be teachers, but that teachers shouldn't necessarily be preachers, unless they are lead by the Spirit. This upload and your comment have helped to clarify a calling. Thank you.

    "You are helping people to worship God." Who is you? It seems like two people can do the exact same thing, but we call it preaching or teaching depending on who they are. Part of the confusion comes from not defining who the preacher is.

    • @roseanneward657

      Preaching is a special gift from God and the preachers/pastors are called to a higher standard than the rest of the congregation, or even the teachers; because they are the shepherds of Christ’s flock/sheep.
      The Pastoral gift is special in the fact Scripture says it is given to LEAD the local church. A pastor is divinely called by God to oversee a group of believers. The pastor is to be the head/lead teaching elder.
      In the New Testament the preacher/pastor is also called “shepherd” or “bishop.” In fact, the word translated pastor in Ephesians 4:11 comes from a word that means, “to shepherd.”
      James 3:1
      Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.
      Acts 20:28
      Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood
      Hebrews 13:17a
      Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account (to Christ regarding shepherding His sheep)
      Preaching and teaching have a certain amount of similarities, but we must be clear - preaching is not teaching and teaching is not preaching.
      All preachers are called to teach, but all teachers are not called to preach.
      Preaching is the act of proclamation. Ideally each sermon is the explanation, interpretation, or application of a single dominant idea supported by other ideas, all drawn from one passage or several passages of Scripture doctrine and theology.
      Teaching imparts truth to people, but the act and the context will look and feel differently.
      In 2 Thessalonians 2:15, it means, “to tell someone what to do, to instruct, to provide instruction in a formal setting.” The work of teaching is less heralding and more discipleship oriented. Teaching is mainly the classroom style of imparting knowledge and seeking to apply it while making sure the student understands the truth. While preaching is more worship oriented, sin acknowledgment, and calling to repentance.

    So essentially preaching delivers wisdom whereas teaching delivers knowledge.

  • @rachray83
    @rachray83 Год назад +2

    Wasn't helpful, what he said preaching involves is the exact same as teaching. Preaching is proclaiming, there is more of an urgency in the proclamation and announcing, teaching is more explaination, illustration, analogies, exhortation.
    Mark 1: 14 Now after John was taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
    That's preaching, no explanation, no illustration, but straight forward announcement with a commanded response.
    Both are commanded jn scripture. We see both, and we are given both side by side in the epistles to and for the church.
