Thank you for that. I needed to hear that.
I would also like to say that I appreciate your recognition of the mystery of humility as it is a very paradoxical experience, as you described...as you even struggled to describe, because it is difficult to put into words the self-paradoxical nature of humility.

Great point about humility NOT meaning being a pushover.

One way to practically encourage the cultivation of humility in our lives is to think about ourselves less and others more. Putting others first. Asking what you can do for someone else. Keeping your eyes fully on God and His character and everything He has done for us and thanking Him as often as possible. Just as Burk said, humility is one of those things that by seeking it we can just about guarantee we lose it. Oh our prideful hearts! What a wonderful day when we will be free from these wretched bodies.

Simply, you grow in humility in brokenness and realization of the depths of your sins, which Christ has beared the wrath, for your sake, specifically. To quote RC, "Right now counts forever". . . .

Only God can CREATE true humility. It cannot be faked or acted out. It has to be produced in the HEART by the Spirit of God, not by going thru the motions and mimicking. It is created after years of humiliation, disgrace and loathing of our true selves as God let's us fall on our face as realize what jerks we are.

“For whom the Lord loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives.”
If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. “

Doesn't HE tell us there how we should live: the one with two coats shall give one away to somebody who does not have one...etc. Rich "christians" meditate and think about humlity, but KING YESHUA says that we must DO what HE says. - I wish I would DO more to humble myself.😔

    Matt 11:11
Truly I tell you, *among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist* ; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
    Acts 13:24-25
24 Before the coming of Jesus, John preached repentance and baptism to all the people of Israel.
25 As John was completing his work, he said: ‘Who do you suppose I am? I am not the one you are looking for. But *there is one coming after me whose sandals I am not worthy to untie* .’

@@John17apologetics To be honest I don't know how Gods sovereignty works through out every detail of our lives. He could sovereignly decide to allow some molecules to behave in a way that he doesn't pay any attention to it. Knowing that it's behavior would have zero impact on His plan. It isn't easy for me to make sense of this theology.
But what about this specific video made you say, "Sounds like free will mischief!"? I really don't follow.
