I played this song as my dear Mother lay dying... She was a pianist and she loved this song. In a coma, tears rolled down her face as I am sure she heard the poignant reverence and gratitude overflowing from this piece. Thank you so much for a song I used to always play crossing the GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE in the gloaming...it has always moved me to tears like it did my Mother in her final moments... 🙏🏼🥰😘
My goodness, this is a beautiful story. So sorry for your loss. I came here tonight after reading about George's passing earlier this month. Shocked and saddened is all I can muster right now.
I’m so very sad to hear of George’s passing. His music has touched my heart and soul for 37 years, since I first saw him in concert my junior year at the University of Maine. I rocked my babies to sleep with George…. So many memories. I’m so grateful for him and his incredible, beautiful talent. ❤️
I took my soon to be wife to see him in 98. She said that she fell in love with me that night. A year later we saw him in Baltimore and she knew that she was pregnant with our daughter. Now 25 years later we’re seeing him at Wolf trap in Va. Thanks for all the wonderful memories sir.

I was the same age when I was introduced to this amazing composer and am 56 right now! I’ve spent 35 years “feeling” this music and am so thankful for it and him! ❤
I was stationed in Turkey from 1983-84. One day while working as a command post controller, the second controller came on duty and said, “as soon as we get a break, I have something I want you to hear!” The command post console had a cassette player for running training exercises which we could use for music after normal duty hours and the cassette tape he put on was a recording of the December and Winter Into Spring albums. When it finished, all I could say was “Wow!” My partner said, “I knew you would like it,” as he reached into his bag and pulled out the two vinyl LPs he used to make the cassette recording. He said the albums had been played twice. He listened the first time through. Made his cassette recording the second time. “You get the third cut,” he explained. I still have those recordings though I later purchased CDs as well, and the music has stayed with me and inspired me for 36 years. Thank you, George!

December was the first CD that I bought from Winston; I have a dozen, and I was fortunate to see it live. He is my favorite pianist and his music has accompanied me in the last 30 years. It has a unique style, and this interpretation is a jewel.
Reflective mood, almost like looking inward at Thanksgivings past and what they meant. An almost mournful piece, this looking back, nostalgic with family members and friends silent as the camera moves around their tradional movements and activities, rolling the day into the music. Very pensive, a sad longing, yet celebrating those times with lighthearted notes.
Thank you, George Winston, for your gifts of some of the most beautiful piano pieces I have ever heard. You were truly a gift to this world and to the people who had the pleasure of stepping into your world of music. Rest easy, my friend. You will be missed by so many, including me in a very big way!!!!!
I don't know why I am crying now.. Rest in peace.... thank you so much for your beautiful songs.. your songs will be remembered in many people's hearts...
This song always brings me to tears. The first music that connected my wife and I in the Fall of 2004. The following April I played this for her at our wedding reception. To this day, we sit hand in hand and prayerfully, gratefully listen to this piece... and lose it. Thank you, GW.
My soundtrack growing up in the 70s. My parents played this in Carmel and I hadn’t heard it since that time, the last time they were together. Now my dad has passed and mom has Alz. Didn’t know George had passed. 😢 This is such special music for this time of year - I’ll try to learn this on piano to recreate those times.
Rest in peace George. you will be missed. I never was able to get to the USA to see George live. but I saw this live stream and other online concerts and they were truly beautiful. His music has touched me deeply and it always will be. thank you George
My dad would play your music ever since I was born. He still plays it on his speaker whenever he is cooking in the kitchen, or just playing it in the car. Growing up listening to the December and autumn album it instantly makes me so nostalgic I can't explain it. Reminds me of happy memories as a kid and the way the world looked. I think it's so amazing, my Dad first heard your music through a friend in college and ever since then has loved it. Thank you!
I can’t express adequately how much I love your music, your performances, and your humanity over the years. Thank you for the upload of this beautiful classic song. God bless you and yours.
RIP George! I saw him in the early 90s at Waco. Between each song he said, very dryly, "Thank you, thank you very much. My next song..." I was hilarious and his playing was amazing. Always play his albums during the fall, and during other seasons as well.

I can't begin to express the complex tangle of emotions this composition evokes in me. For over 3 decades this sublime piece has moved me so, so deeply. Thank you, George, a thousand times.
Go with the wolves and disappear into the grey northern clouds of winter. I'll carry the music you left behind with me forever as it is indelibly marked in my memory. Rest in peace, old soul.
My all time favorite song. I have been listening to December album since 1985 when I was a college student at the Ohio State University. The song brings back a lot of both joyful and sad memories. Thanks for sharing.
I am from Miles City, Montana. The big sky is vast and a concert of clouds drifting, piling atop each other and shape shifting over the rugged terrain of prairie and sagebrush and badlands and coursing rivers getting on with life. Thank you George, for capturing the spirit of the country. 💖
George Winston is incredible! The first song I am seriously learning to play it is soooo beautiful! This man is a genius and so very admired. There will be greats like George Winston once in a lifetime; thank god it was in mine!!!!!!!
I'm wondering who would "thumbs down" this. Anyway, beautiful piece, I'll never tire of listening to this in all its variations. Thank you, Mr. Winston.
Heard December for the first time in college … and have seen George in concert several times. Musical genius. Your music is so inspirational and inspiring. Hoping to see you in a few months in Maryland.
Searched for this on RUclips as I'm currently learning this piece on piano. It's probably my favourite piece of music. Read the comments and just realised that he passed away this Summer. Damn. That's really sad.
This was the first Winston piece that I learned on the piano. For all the wonderful works that have given me the inspiration to learn I thank you so very much. Peace and wishing you good health.
I only just heard the news today that you had passed away. I was shocked and saddened. I could go on for a while reminiscing about the memories. So glad I got to see you in concert in the early 90s. Thank you is all I can say right now.
One of my beloved compositions. Heard it first time when I was about 17. I'm 30 soon and I decided to learn how to play it on piano, even though I'm not advanced player. Thank you, George Winston for your wonderful creations 🌹
God bless you, Sir. Your music transports me back to a youthful season of my life. One of joy, innocence, and simplicity. Thank you for this wonderful gift.

In an Auditorium of a thousand or more people maybe three thousand not a whisper, not a cough nor any sound just George playing this.... UCLA Royce Hall '83
Wow what a wonderful rendition of this iconic piece. Hearing this album and this selection has been an essential part of the holiday season from Thanksgiving to New Years in my life since the 1980’s. It is the music of December for many of us. Thank you George Winston for this gift in our lives.

The quiet between the notes was as important as the note itself. RIP George...you were a pleasant landscape in my life.

Stunningly beautiful - and thank you, George Winston, for all the delightful music you have given the world over the years.
Rest in peace. 명복을 빕니다. 가슴속에서 평생 잊혀지지 않을 제 인생 최고의 피아노 연주곡을 만들어주셔서 감사했습니다.

Wow...He sure has aged since 96'. But still, a GIFT he has from God. Still has it 110%. This man should be allowed to live forever. Thank you George.
That's because he was battling three different types of cancer.

There was the most beautiful 1993 fugure skating performance, "Thanksgiving", by Annenko - Sretensky. Hopefully, it still posted somewhere.
