It was Christmas 1982 I was shopping with my brother in Minnesota when I heard a most beautiful piano instrumental. I stopped and listen. I just had to have that album. It was called December. The cut was the canon....Rest in peace.........
Amen. For me, it was Chicago. While I was in Chicago, I was always alone on my December birthday. I began a tradition of walking to the lake and listening to "December" over and over, for hours, walking along Lake Michigan. It made everything OK. Rest in peace, George, and thank you. Prayers.
I had a Minneapolis moment with George several decades ago. I attended one of his concerts at the then new Minnesota Orchestra Hall. I think I own all of his published music from the Windom Hill label. I still listen to him in my car and at home around the Thanksgiving and Xmas holidays. RIP George, your legacy lives on.
Rest in peace George Winston. I first saw you in 1984. I was going to get tickets for your December show, that’s when I discovered this sad news. You changed my world. 🌎 God placed you into all of our lives for a reason. You will be greatly missed . May your family have peace…
I went to his concert in the middle of mountains, and I talked to him. I told him I even don’t know how many times I listen to his songs again and again. He was so humble and took his time to take a picture with us :)
Man this has been a soundtrack to my life. Can’t go to the San Juan islands without the light sparkling on the water reminding me of his music. Peace to all merry Christmas and a happy new year.

@@GeorgeWinstonPiano absolutely amazing arrangement that kept me company for many cold nights in Chicago 1990 when I first left home for college. Thank you so much.
First time listening to your "Variations on the Kanon" was about 7 years ago, just a 8th grade student, and I've fallen in love with it so far. I don't remember how many times I've listened, but surely hundreds of times and wished to play it completely just one time in my life. I bought a piano 7 months ago, and after period of learning and practicing it, I'm now ready to start my new journey to master your masterpiece. Someday, instead of listening, I will play it and make my dream come true. Thank George Winston for this masterpiece.
Still listening to your masterpiece in 2022. This arranged version of Cannon in concert hall motivated me to play the piano again in 2007 after 10 years of break, and very thankfully, I have been playing the piano since that time.
When one losses faith on humanity, through so much pain, suffering, war and destruction, one finds pieces such as this and discovers, with acceptance, that man is capable of the most beautiful and the most horrible. And understands how the esthetic beauty takes us to ethical beauty. Listening this oeuvre is being as close as possible of good.
