This looks super yummy! One of my favorite things about your videos is the length of them. 10 minutes of, entertaining, educational, wholesome food & content! Too many RUclipsrs make even the simplest of videos into a half hour ordeal. Who has 30 minutes to watch someone cook sweet potatoes? I could cook sweet potatoes faster than that!
I like to get right to the good stuff!! Thats why people are there. Plus, I don't have any hair to play with so things go much faster. HA! Thanks so much for watching.
Happy Thanksgiving to you too. I just saw your video from when you grandma made that pie with you and you and your mom and grandma and auntie tasted it at the end. I loved it. So much culture and an amazing multi-generational room of women.
Joey try using a parchment paper in the casserole dish or any casserole dish if you can’t use oil- fold the parchment paper like a basket- it should not stick. The dish looks good- you really don’t need the fat.
Hi A! Thanks for watching. I knew this wouldn't stick in the glass pan so I was good with it. I used a parchment paper sling in my lentil loaf video and I loved doing that. Thanks so much for watching.
This is one of my favorite holiday meals. I had to change it up to avoid vegan butter, but it was so worth it , and it tastes just as good without it. You all have a great Thanksgiving also.
Hi Brenda, Yes it is an incredible looking CASSEROLE!! HA! I used to make this for Tim's family in MN every Thanksgiving when we used to go up there. Then we would all do Black Friday shopping, and put up his moms Christmas tree that weekend before we headed back home. This year we are just staying home by ourselves. But, we are still going to have a great meal and this recipe will be on the table for sure. Thanks for watching.
You hit it out of the park with these holiday recipes Joey! Thank you so much for sharing them with us! Also, I really enjoy seeing Tim do the taste test with you ☺️ I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving ❤️
Laura, This is one of my favorite holiday recipes. Yes, I was able to talk Tim into doing the tasting with me so that was fun. You have a great Thanksgiving also. We are staying home by ourselves and I am fine with it.
Hi Grace. Thanks so much. We are saying home just the three of us and cooking all day. There might be some homemade cookies also. Have a great Thanksgiving!
It's our First Plant based Thanksgiving this year!! On top of CoVid reasons we opted out of a family get together. The hubby and I have a best bud couple we social distance with that have agreed to make all Plant based sides! We're making a lentil loaf and they're grabbing a few Turkey legs for them selves! Your recipes are going to be a hit on our special day!
I love that you are doing that. Maybe you can show some meat eaters that some of our food is really good. Let me know how the food gets received after they try it all. Thanks so much for watching Sarah!
This is the perfect side dish for the Thanksgiving day dinner table super delicious I love this sweet potato casserole it has everything I love in it. Has a nice brown sugar crunchy topping with the Pecans. Just love the applesauce and pure maple syrup that got mashed into the cooked sweet potatoes super delicious
That looked absolutely delicious now I love sweet potato casserole I haven’t had any nuts in six months but there wasn’t that much in there but just enough to give you a bit of a bite thank you Joey another great recipe
Dee, for the holiday meal I allowed myself some nuts but yes, I agree they are fattening and I limit them during my normal diet. Thanks so much for watching.
Lynn, this is one of my favorite holiday dishes. This was the first year I did it without the vegan butter so I was worried about using the applesauce, but it came out amazing. So I am glad to share it. Thanks for watching.
Hi Rob. Happy Thanksgiving to you too. The maple syrup is 1/4 cup so across the 9 servings it makes its less that a tablespoon of sugar per serving. The same thing with the brown sugar. It really isn't very sweet. If you dont mind it without the maple syrup, you can totally leave that out. Let me know how it turns out. Thanks for watching.
@@PlantBasedDads thanks for the info Joey. I agree that sounds really good. I’m going to make it your way. If all goes well I will post a recipe for garbanzo noodle soup I learned from a local 7th Day Adventist group. I’m not a member of the church in my area, but they have an amazing plant based program. I have seen a bunch of plant based celebs like Chef AJ and the Juliana Hever and Ray Chronice. They have had Doug Lisle and others. We had a reading group that met every Tuesday night and we had a great vegan dinner and going thru How Not To Diet. Unfortunately, with Covid the dinners are off, but the group still meets via zoom. The Pastor cooked the meals for about 25 folks on average, all simple, but delicious. The pastor’s wife is a vegan nutritionist and he asked her to give him 12 meals he couldn’t mess up. The Adventist have lots of Saturday lectures and cooking demos. If you would like I can pass on the info. Most everything is free of charge, but the do have a class that is about a hundred bucks for 8 or 9 weeks. Have a great Thanksgiving!!!
Interesting. I’ve never heard of sweet potato casserole made from boiled potatoes 😮. We’ve always made it with baked sweet potatoes. I wonder if there’s a difference in taste 🤔
@@PlantBasedDads I learned to bake sweet pot. almost completely, let them cool (refrigerate uncovered [regular pot. too] those you don't need at the moment)--the peel slips off pretty easily at least later or maybe right then?. Thank you for your work!
Thanks Joey, for another great recipe!!! It looks amazing! I made cranberry sauce and substituted date paste for the sugar. It turned out great. I don’t know if that would work for your recipe, but I try to use dates instead of sugar. Wishing you and your family a very happy thanksgiving 🍁
Judy, I thought about making some date paste for that on the morning of the recipe, but I was like "That is way too much work!". I wish I had done it now. Thanks so much for watching
Great recipe I'm gonna try that this week! Did you know that when you boil sweet potatoes you lose 80 to 90% of their food value? Also anytime I boil white potatoes I save the broth to use for soups or thickener for mashed potatoes. I would absolutely have saved that broth🥰
Suzy, this is part of The Starch Solution, not part of The Maximum Weight Loss Program. This makes 9 services. 1/2cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of nuts spread over nine servings is less than a tablespoon per serving. That is absolutely compatible with The Starch Solution. Thanks so much for watching.

I think I'll make this for our get together, since I SUCK at pie crust. This is a great way to avoid having to mess with that!
Sweet Potato Licious Casserole, Happy Thanksgiving my Friends!!!

Well done! I'm going to make it with a little less sugar. I'm not really a sweet food lover. Hi Tim! Happy Thanksgiving boys! Stay safe!!

Is there a reason why you didn't roast/bake the sweet potatoes vs boiling?
Just that its easier for me to peel and boil than it is to peel and bake. You can bake them if you want for sure. Thanks so much for watching.
