    Mashed Potato Recipe (no plant milk)
    2lbs Yukon Gold potatoes
    1 tsp garlic powder
    1 tsp online powder
    1/2 - 3/4 cup water from when you boiled the potatoes
    salt
    pepper
    wash, scrub, rinse and cut potatoes into quarters. Put in a stockpot of cold water as you are cutting
    Put the pot with the potatoes and cold water on cooktop and bring to boil. Let cook for 12-15 mins until you can split with a fork with very little effort. Save about 1 cup of the cooking water, then drain potatoes in a colander but don't rinse them. Put potatoes back in the stockpot and simmer on very low heat for a few minutes while stirring to get out excess water. Pour potatoes into mixing bowl. Add garlic and onion powder. Use an electric whisk on lowest speed and pour cooking water into potato mixture gradually until potatoes are creamy. Add salt and pepper to tasted. Serve and top with fresh parsley, chives or scallions.

    I oven roast potato wedges in one step. Toss in seasoning of choice, stand potato wedges upright on baking tray (skin side touching tray). Bake 25 minutes in 425 degrees preheated oven. The wedges puff and brown beautifully.

    The griddler or or the foreman grill work great for making hashbrowns. Just put your hashbrowns, with or without added veggies and mushrooms, and close the lid. Let them cook until the steam has stopped coming out the top or until they don’t stick. Makes perfect hashbrowns.

    Your experience with dinner wedges just shows how many fries we may have consumed in the past. I wonder how many potatoes an extra large order from the Golden Arches represents. And how much beef tallow grease we used to consume. Yuck. But you consumed healthy food that nourished your body, didn't damage your blood vessels and showed eating potatoes regularly doesn't cause us to hate them. Good job!

    • @PlantBasedDads
      @PlantBasedDads  3 года назад

      Brenda, I never thought of it that way but you are correct. Can you imagine what we had been doing to our bodies for so many years eating fast food fries? I have not had fast food fries in over 14 years because even as a vegetarian for most of those years I still couldn't eat the fries. Like you said, they are covered in some type of beef based grease. It is nice to be able to eat fries/wedges now and not feel like I am poisoning myself. Thanks so much for watching.

      You cant use flax anything on Mary's Mini. Flax is a fat, and fats are avoided on MM. They are fine on Starch Solution though. Egg Replace is process and no processed food on MM. Thanks so much for watching.

    • @PlantBasedDads

      I cook them for 12 minutes in the instant pot. They DO turn to mush so you have to take them out and put the in the fridge overnight. Then the next day they are fine and not soft. You can reheat them for fries which is what I do. Thanks so much for watching

      @Bloomingsolo 3 года назад

      You will lose weight on SS. I lose about 2-3 pounds a month on SS but I will lose about 3-4 pounds if I do the Mary’s mini. The Mary’s Mini is harder if you like variety. I can only do it for about 5 to 7 days. But that 5-7 days help to get the scale moving. I have lose 16 pounds since September and that is with many days of eating vegan pizza and a lot of sourdough breads. 10 more to go. Good luck to you. :)

      Hi Annamaria. Yes, Happy Happy Joy Tran is right. You will totally lose weight on SS. But, for some of us, weight loss stalls and we hit a plateau. This used to happen to me on Weight Watchers also. So occasionally you have to change something. The Mary's Mini diet is perfect for those of us on The Starch Solution because it's some of the foods from SS. This is a 10 day diet that you only do if you need an extra push. Otherwise its not necessary. Thanks so much for watching.
