Great video. I would of used a washer the same size of the countersink hole just to stop the fixings pulling through. Cheers

Great video. Could this method be used to fix the 2 timber side posts to breeze block for an up and over garage door?

Hi, what length and width masony bolts are you using with the 10mm wide drilled hole?
    Cheers

Q1 - Why don't you put a washer under your bolt in the countersunk hole?
Q2 - Would it be better to have some kind of space or stand-off between the wood and the brick wall so that any moisture that got in there could evaporate?

The concrete / masonry bolts do not need a washer, the head of the ones used is quite large and for want of a better explaination has a sort of washer built in.
If you leave a gap between the brickwork and post you will be allowing moisture in. Rear of post should be painted/ stained and once fitted should be sealed between brickwork and post with a silicone down the sides and over the top. Underneath the post between brick and post is not sealed and with the help of gravity any moisture in there should get out that way.

It's never too late, just unscrew and pack accordingly.

Masonry screws/bolts, there are a few trade names in the UK such as Thunderbolts and Multi-Monti etc

Both parts of the 'frame fixing' should be put through the wood so that the expanding (plastic) part of the fixing grips to the brick. The way you use them in the video would create a loose fixing to the wall as the screw will not reach the area designed to expand and grip the brick. In other words don't separate the fixing from how it is supplied in the original packaging.

+Adam Yates In the video I'm not using frame fixings, I'm using concrete screws or concrete bolts - these have no sleeve as the bolt/screw cuts it own thread into the brickwork like a self tapping screw once a hole has been pre-drilled into the brickwork.

+Inwood (Cymru) Ltd Hi, look at the video at 1:19. It sounds like your saying frame fixing.

Thats not the correct way to use a frame fixing. push the plug and screw into the wood.
