Longboard Talk- Riding 1965 Hansen/Doyle Longboard

In preparation for the premier vintage longboard contest Log Jam in Santa Cruz, California. I asked my Ventura surfing godfather Blinky if he had a sixties longboard that I could ride for LJ. Of course he did, I loaned me a 1965 Hansen Surfboards Mike Doyle Signature Model.
Having zero experience riding boards from the sixties, I had a couple of surf sessions so I could figure out this classic. On this video you will see my first session riding an almost 60 year old surfboard. Having no real expectations for the board, I was pleased with how the board felt.

First new board I was able to buy in ‘65 was a Don Hansen .9’6” . Beautiful board . Wood tail block. Delivered by O.N.C. Trucking to my house in Newberry Park Ca. Those were the days. 😎
