Maemae was my grandmother’s nickname. I never heard anyone else called that. The red cover reminded me of my mother’s favorite cookbook. All very nostalgic for me. 🥰

I think it is a wonderful idea. might I suggest that you get all the 'prizes' you want in your boxes and have a friend fill them for you so you still get a 'surprise' when you open them
You have such excellent tutorials. You have got to be a teacher/professor, because You Are So Good at what you do in your tutorials. Cricut has a great box for this project. Trust me I made 28 advent books last year. That’s 672 little boxes and each had a bow on it. It was fun though.
You could always run a piece of decorative ribbon up the center front of the box to create a little pull tab.

Yeah. It's a beautiful book calendar! But with our kids doing Elf on the shelf, too, we may get the little "job" of refilling the boxes for them.😉

Well my fiance and I are making this project. Did mention we are making 3 of them ? Lol . It is alot of work but all 3 girls will love them. My fiance got me into card making and crafting. So this has a good way for me to learn how to use my voucher scan n cut. Thank you for the great tips.

I'm so glad you figured it out, I been wanting to make one but didn't see any I liked and some were expensive dies and I still couldn't commit. I think I like this one and its more of what I had in my head but polished. I don't think I will make it this year cause I'm trying to get things in the mail and not pull 19 and nothing got finished or mailed, just Xmas cards. I think I will have to make several next year i want to get them done early so i can make everyone one. This makes me happy and i hope i can pull them off for next year. thanks.

I guess I’m going to be making lots of boxes for a crafting Advent Calendar for my Mum.../sigh. Wish I could just skip to decorating one 😁 Thank you so much for being so precise with all the measurements to make sure things fold ok & have enough room to open. Now I just have to try to make them work with A4 & A3 cardstock & metric measurements 🤔 I suspect that will make it more than one day’s make & a big headache for me. Oh well. Will be worth it!

Gonna have to make these for the grandkids. Think I will put in mini candy bars and some money. Will use a combo of 1,5,10 and 20 dollar bills. Think will do a 20 on the 15 as it was my anniversary and then a 10 on the 3rd as that is my birthday. Will use 1and 5 for the rest of the days

My 49 and Market black cardstock arrived (thank you) so I got started making the boxes. I know you said we don't really need the thumb cut out but I thought of a reason for it. Before I trimmed and folded the boxes, I took that scant half circle out of one end. That way I alwsys knew which was the top for when I trimmed. Big help for me so thought I'd pass that on.
Today is the 1.1.2023...I have enough time to make it for december 2023♡ you did a great job and I love your voice 😀

This is amazing. Wish I could get these done this year for my grandkids...but I know it would be pushing it to get them done for 4 families by the end of November.
I think I will try to get one done for our 90 year old neighbor. She lost her husband, both sons and her daughter in law all within a few years of each other and has no family left.
