Also, you could always do a shorter version, like 7 or 10 days instead of all 25
Love the video Kayla! ❤
Yessss absolutely!! 👌🏻🎄
when i was a kid my grandma would do 12 days, because of the song!
12 days till Christmas is the sweet spot I think
Insulated mugs make a great gift for people who get wrapped up in books and their drink goes cold.
I'm doing a Book Advent Calendar for my mom this year. She was diagnosed with inoperable Stage 3 Lung Cancer earlier this year and has picked up reading again. Sometimes she'll finish a book in a day, so 24 books seemed logical (a mix of new and used). And then so she has something to open on Christmas, I got her a pair of cozy Ugg socks, bookmarks, a different book light, and a bookish cosmetic bag that she can take to chemo and put snacks in. She has the light you put on the page and loves it but said it's sometimes hard to hold, so I got her another option.
I did a similar package for my friend's mother who was going through chemo. It was such a great idea! My friend's mom was having problems with her esophagus at the time from the chemo so I also got her some cute bookish related tea. Love the idea of the bookish cosmetic bag.
The tea is a great idea! Luckily, we’re past the sore throat and loss of taste from radiation. I did the Ugg fuzzy socks this year because she’s always cold (we live in the northern Midwest area) and my sister and I got her an Ugg blanket last year before her diagnosis. Maybe a book themed coffee would work though. Thanks for the idea!
@@carriefolkerts6175 we did the heavy socks as well, those were a big hit! Hospitals were always so cold and just wanted something comfy.
big VOUCH for the annotated book from a friend!! there's literally no gift as meaningful as that to a book lover
I would literally sob if someone did this for me
Seriously I would LOVE an annotated book from a friend
I would really like that too. I read on my Kindle because it’s simple to carry. I love to see what people have highlighted. Someone dear who shares my book likes would be very special.
This is an EXCELLENT idea and for the right person, you could shop for 2 things per month all year and manage the budget piece with no issue. Doing it for my sister next year!
I think just a bookmark Advent calendar with different style bookmarks would be super cool. Wish I had time to put that kind of thing together for my daughter
Cute! I really love that idea!!
That would be so fun. I went through a coastal phase and my mom got me all kinds of sea turtle, starfish, seahorse, etc bookmarks that I still have to this day. I use the seahorse in my daily planner.
I was thinking the same thing! ❤
I love that!
My husband painted the edges of my favorite book (Addie LaRue) for my birthday, and I feel like that would work well in something like this
Pro Tipp if you don't have a huge budget: Something like the DIY booknook set can be easily divided up into 24 parts. So the gift itself is a puzzle and then the instructions are gift Nr. 24
That's such a fun idea!!
I would also suggest magnets! My husband got me cute ones as stocking stuffers last year that say “No Shelf Control” and “Death by TBR” (both accurate). This year he is personalizing a couple 6 sided dice with reading prompts so whenever I am having trouble deciding what to read next I can roll for it! Both from Etsy!
I have pins on my jean jacket that say things like “Fully Booked”, “I read banned books”, “Reading is my cardio” then ones of The Secret Garden and Little Women.
I like magnets as a little piece of memorabilia or decor so much! But my fridge in my current apparently isn’t magnetic!!
Also!! Highly recommend giftcards to local independent bookstores!!! Or independent bookstores online, or maybe ones further away if you want to make a fun day-trip voucher. My sister & I often gift each other waterstones giftcards too, because we love UK covers and it’s a really thoughtful treat.
Partners of book lovers please watch this!
Your sweatshirt in this video brings me joy.
I like the idea of getting a special version of a book, and maybe pairing it with a good movie adaptation.
I love how you give ideas, like stalking someones socials to get the info they need for the more personalized gifts! This is such an awesome gift guide! Even if you're not doing a full advent calender even one of these bigger gifts is a great idea, or a smaller one (like a bookmark) for a stocking stuffer.
I'm trying to think of a way to do this for myself lol. But I would want it to be a surprise so that kind of defeats the purpose lol.
Hahaha same!! I know my family wouldn’t be this thoughtful or creative and I’m the only reader in my family 🥲 so I wanna do it for myself but how to make it a surprise? 🙃😂😂
Love this! There’s also a lot of 12 days of Christmas gift ideas going around and 12 can be just a better number money wise for people or the 8 nights of Hanukkah depending on what you celebrate! ❤
One year I did a 12 months of buddy reads for my friend. At Christmas I sent here 12 books (Most of them thrifted or from bookoutlet) that I knew she hadn't read/didnt own that we could buddy read and marked them for the different months. It was so fun!
@@brightsidegirl that sounds amazing! What a great gift for the whole year!
It was tricky to figure out at first but once I did it was so fun to put together!
This is so much fun! blind date with a book is also an idea
Saw the title of the video and made my husband watch it. 😂
As someone who has done a few of the miniature room kits, it typically takes me a full week doing all-day work to finish one (I do them when I'm on vacation). If you're doing only a little at a time, I would guess it might take a month or two to finish.
The way you described this is truly so helpful.
My online bookclub is doing a 12 days of Christmas Advent calendar for each other. We don't know each other very well but it has been so much fun! 🙌
For the creativity section for writers - Story Cubes! They are packs of dice that you can use as story prompts. They have different themes. They're really cute!
Unfortunately, I am decidedly not a writer, but they are stull fun. You could even use them to choose a tbr.
Definitely agree even bargain or thrifted books are great gifts. You can find some really out there and unique books at used book shops 😹
This is the most thoughtful video and idea ever.
Is this a hint for Rob? 😂❤love this idea, sending it to my hubby
Brilliant ideas, RUclips knocked it out of the park recommending this video. I'm a reader and have many reader friends and even a mini version of the advent sounds fantastic. I'm also friends with a number of romance writers -- my brain is spinning with ideas for a writer advent calendar! Pens, notebooks, bookmarks, writer resources, gift cards for the big online store which Shall Not Be Named and can deliver the next day, a journal, and part of it could be digital, a curated list of advice videos, funny videos, etc (make a QR code for the playlist!).
can't speak to advent calendars but this list is PERFECT for Hanukkah, where you're looking for 8 nights of small to medium gifts 🕎
I did this for my husband he is mot a book lover, but he never asks for anything. So I wrapped him 25 gifts, and he gets to pick what he wants to open each day in December. 😊 something new I wanted to do. We're having a baby on Nov 29th, and he has been doing so much.
I’m *so* very picky with specific books, and majority of my reading is from the library so I rarely buy, so I’m so glad to see so many options here! this is so well thought out and now has me inspired to maybe put one together with my bf as a fun project this year or next year 🥰
basically, show the person youve been listening to their interests ❤
brb sending this to my entire family ❤❤❤
I love the idea of annotating a book with a specific person in mind to gift it to! Thank you for the thoughtful and creative ideas, Kayla! 😍
This is so clever and such a fun list! You could also do tea or coffee as one of the gift ideas too.
These ideas are great for building a bookish goodie bag style gift which I prefer to gift especially for a friend or family memberthat you dont have a specific gift in mind for. Several smaller things are fun and exciting to open 😊
your sweater!! I love it
You're a very thoughtful, organized person. I love it.
A Biyabimi book bag would be perfect for this, it’s a bar that you use like a bookmark but it’s connected to a strap so you can wear your book like a purse!
I love this video💕💕 more advent goodness for all!!! 😝
Omg reverse coloring books 😱 *add to cart*
I love this so much. Also things that don't fit into the calendar can be wrapped and placed under the tree. On the day it is to be opened there can be a note in the calendar saying which package to unwrap. Also, I literally squealed out loud when I saw your shirt.
I was thinking of doing a bookish advent calendar but decided to do it next year to break down the cost. I figured it was easier to spread it out instead of all at once. Buying bookish items as I see them and putting them away.
Too funny I just scheduled my bookish gift guide for Friday haha! But I LOVE the advent idea for book lovers. I'm currently making advent for my husbands bday in december and its really fun coming up with stuff to put in it!
As someone who is mortified of opening gifts in front of people and being the only one doing the gift receiving, I LOVE the caveat to propose you both do advent calendars and open them together!
This is a very helpful list! My mom and I love to read and she has sent me several Bookish advent calendars through insta like you had mentioned! So I decided to build her an advent calendar for 24 days! I am using 12 books and 12 other Bookish items: bookmark, treat, tea, Mug, Murdle Volume 2! I am so excited to give it to her!
Sequels in a series they are reading is a good book gift idea
omg, now I want to do this for myself hahah
OMG Kayla the tiny room is so detailed. It was a blast doing, but will take a long time to finish.
This is such a fun idea!!! Great gift ideas and I love how intentional you were with the categories and everything :)
A cheap idea is to get an empty jar and fill it with TBR prompts!
I've never done an advent calendar but this sounds so fun! I'd definitely love to do this with my husband and make him one that is woodworking themed.
this could work for hanukkah too! love this idea 🥰
5:17 i need that
I would add bullet journals to that list. I don’t do a book journal exactly. I make notes in my bullet journal of characters, places, key things, etc. It helps my Type A brain; especially when I’m reading a series and I can reference “oh that is so and so’s sister.”
Immediately sends this video to my husband
I make myself a 12- day book advent calendar, using second hand books from a subscription service I sign up to. I just select the genres and they send me the books already wrapped so I just add the numbers 😊
That sounds great. What subscription service do you use?
@@jersy6406 it's a UK based small business called the Gently Used Book Club. I think they're great!
Omg Kayla! This was AMAZING!
Fun idea and I love your suggestions. Plus, I never knew there were Advent calendars for book lovers! I must go look at once.😃
What a brilliant idea
I would weep if I got a personalized annotated book from someone. So sweet 🥹
I love all of these ideas!
Another bookmark idea if you and your partner have kids or if doing an advent for a family/friend who has kids, have the kids decorate bookmarks.
When my son was in elementary school (now an adult, married with his own family) he made me a set of bookmarks. Another year during my Twilight phase, he drew a sparkling Edward. 😂 I still have them and a few years ago decided to laminate them.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS VIDEO
Love this SO much! Thank you.
This is such a great idea! I’m trying to think of a way to do this for myself😊
Loved this! Great idea and super helpful!
I actually got that bookshop making kit last year! Takes ages but so cute!
This is an amazing gift guide! And super helpful even for someone who just wants to buy a book related gift or two :)
Ugh I want a book advent calendar so bad omggg
This is GREAT!! I love how your mind works that you had the gift ratio worked out lmao now lemme just send this link to my boyfriend🤭
This video is perfect!!
😃 great ideas, even without calendar, could be used for Hanukkah 🕎 as well for Christmas 🎄 and other celebrations 🎉
I really enjoyed this video.
your sweater 😍
Well you gave ME a gift when you mentioned websites in your description!! I just subscribed to Everand!!!❤
This was the most perfect video. I hope all my friends see it so I can get an advent book-ish calendar
Incredible!! Thank you!
I loved this video Kayla!!!
Great video. Lots of good ideas.
This is so fun!
I love this what a great idea. Thank you for sharing. 😊📕💜
This is great!
Why was this so fascinating lol
this is such a great guide
I'm going to send this to my parents. 27 isn't too old to get an advent calendar right? 😂
My partner bought me Bibliophile diverse spines and I love it so much
I've built that bookshop, you'll need more than a day 😂❤
I really want a stamper for my personal library and tabs for my books (hoping my sister sees this)
I loved everything about this video! I need to find someone to gift this to, or find someone who will gift it to me! lol. Also, if the person listens to audiobooks, maybe get them a nice pair of headphones?
Can't wait to make this for myself! 😂
great ideas!!
CC: Rob.
Where did you get your book pouch from because I heard a snap of like magnets and now I'm obsessed with the idea
This is such a great video. I am going to use the ideas to make up a Christmas gift box for a couple of book loving friends. I would love it if someone did the Advent Calendar for me! I think it maybe a bit unsubtle to send the link to this video to my husband though. 😊
I just bought one of those glass cups & my toddler with his long, long arms managed to pull it off the counter.... (he was ok & it did break but didn't shatter!)
Great video!
Immediately sent this to my gifting challenged fiance and told him to save it for next year lol.
Along with many others, I immediately sent this to my spouse 🤭
love this!!
What a great idea! Sending to my mom ASAP!!
What a great video. Enjoyed this so much 🎄
Where is YOUR book sleeve from? Love the geode look 😍
Watching this on November 30th o.O
