I tested both a Cruiser 15.8 and a Keewaydin 15 this summer in the Adirondacks. The Cruiser is faster for sure, but with a load I'm pretty convinced the Keewaydin is more seaworthy and more packable. The ability to kneel alone is huge, it's much easier to control your boat on your knees. What I really would love is a Cruiser with a kneeling seat, but sadly that's not an option. If I get a boat this summer as I plan, I'm leaning more towards the Keewaydin (although I want to test a Northstar Magic first...

It is very good to test many different options and see what you like. I tried the Keewaydin 15 with my normal gear load both as a pack boat and as a canoe and the keewaydin is definetly not for me. Even kneeling in the keyweedin I found it really difficult to paddle in a good wind. The cruiser has performed excellently for me with a load, although I do wish I would have got the 15.8 so I could carry a bit more weight. With a heavy food barrel of 14 days of food up front the 14.8 does tend to dig deep into the big waves and you get a bit wet. The spray skirt available on the 14.8 really comes in key in these situations. I'd be interested in trying the northstar, might just do the trick for you.

I recently went camping, and likely had over 300 pounds in my cruiser 14. In swells, I would think the Keewaydin would feel more stable, but you’d want to go bigger, not so much shorter.

Hmm that looks fun. Moves a little faster and smoother than my 16-ft boat

The Cruiser 14.8 is a beast, no matter what paddle you use. I could use my bare hands lol 😆

Pray for Nathan Nature Show I pulled the trigger on a Cruiser 14.8 after watching O.G. In the Canoe as well. Only got to use it for a month at the end of last year but it was absolutely fantastic. You're going to love your new boat.

Wow your really moving in this boat. Not the pace your usually at. Is it less work too? Your gliding so nicely in the first one double paddle.

It will be less work to go the same speed as before for sure. However, I seem to be a speed junkie and will probably go as fast as possible. I got to spend the winter working out my rhomboids and trapezoids to help with the different paddling motion.
