When I needed a more durable finish for metal parts, I looked into many different things. One that really jumped out at me was powder coating. I picked up at cheap powder coating system from Harbor Freight not knowing if it would fit the bill. Come and take a look at the Harbor Freight kit and see a few projects that I've finished and decide for yourself.

I would like to see your other oven, I was thinking of using an old swing set and covering it with sheet metal and using a couple of bayou burners for a heat source as I have a brush guard and a pair of rock sliders I want to powder coat. I definitely agree that you're not pushing enough pressure through your gun and that the powder should be drawn in from a greater distance but great video. I think I am gonna buy a kit. Thanks

I'm a powder coat painter with over a decade of experience in a paint booth. Had to jump in here I personally don't have experience with hf's gun but your air is to low. That is know as a cone tip and the powder should be spraying in a circle patern not coming out the side. The powder is not getting property fluidized that's one reason why you are having to hold the gun so close. The distance between the part and the gun should never be closer than about 10 inches. Any closer and you will start blowing the powder off. Second reason why it's acting like that is the ground. It's not grounding very well and not aplying enough charge to help the power stick.

@@9142PropsandArmory hope my experiences helped ya out. Once that system gets dialed in it I see no reason why it wont work great for diy'ers. One more quick thing, curing the paint. Every powder acts a Lil different in curing and it's very easy to over cure and burn the paint. Most powders are happiest between 375 and 400 degrees for 15 to 20 mins. P.s. after ya clean your parts before painting wear gloves. There is a lot of oil in our skins and touching a clean part with Bair hands runs the risk of the oil beading throu. I have seen more than my share of parts come out of the cure oven with a finger or hand print beading throu. Happy painting

I have a question and would appreciate it 💪🏼 could you touch up something that’s been scratched by prepping the area and powdering over it and using a heat gun to spot bake it on the spot? Thanks again 🙏🏼

You can do rims in a normal house oven. Of course don't use one that you cook in. But you can find old cheap ovens on Facebook marketplace.
