- EVERY SHOT IN 14 MINUTES (Unico Grande Golf Club)
A round of golf at Unico Grande golf course in Bangkok, Thailand. It's a par 63 executive course that has many par 4s on the front 9.
If you are time limited (like me) then playing shorter executive courses can be a good way to sharpen your short game. This course in Bangkok is not only affordable, but very quirky with fast greens. Unico Grande is a great place that I like to play late afternoons for a quick 9 holes.
I'm James, a golfer with a dodgy swing now playing off a 14.8 handicap.
I am in Thailand for the winter & spring and will be back to posting UK golf content this summer.

Thank you for the video. Always enjoy.
Great final putt James! The threat of being hit by lightning is a strong motivator!
That was a brilliant watch James. Enjoyed your failures, enjoyed your birdie and some solid holes righting the ship.. Enjoyed the weather, enjoyed the alacrity of your last putt and the joy of it going in. I can't/don't believe you always play alone. I'd love a round or two with you. You're miles better than me (but not always). and your evident enthusiasm and willingness to take a knock with humour and bounce back is always endearing. Go well this summer.
Cheers Brian. This was definitely not a typical round but still fun all the same. I've never been on a course when a thunderstorm siren went off before! Heading back the UK in July and I'm really looking forward to playing some new courses. Thanks for watching :)
Great to see you back James, well done for sticking at it, certainly improved after the start in very difficult conditions
Cheers Paul, it was definitely not an average game on this day with the weather. At least there was no wind! :)
I've been washed out more than once, funny how we tend to play better when we have to speed up and not think too much...Those courses seem challenging in Thailand, wouldn't mind playing there some time..A pleasure to watch as always....Cheers James!
solid stuff the last 6 holes James, great to see another upload
Great to see you back James hopefully more videos to come
Great to see you back with an upload James! I've missed your videos while you haven't been posting. Be good to see some vlogs from some different courses when you are back in the UK over the summer. What do you do out in Thailand over the winter and spring?
Cheers Johnny, I've still got 10+ UK courses on the list to tick off so there will be no shortage of content when I get back. I work online so am able to do that from Thailand.
Nice to see you back. Always love your rounds ❤
Glad you are back! Always great content!
Honestly I look forward to your content more than any other yt golfer, Great to see you back James.
Cheers Lee, I like making these but these Thailand vids never do as well as the UK ones. Its a catch-22 for me...
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 I'll be re-watching many of your north Wales rounds this week. I'm off to Nefyn for a week on 7th and want to play at least 1 round in the wider area. I may save Nefyn itself for my 50th in August, but are there any little gems around there that are in the sub-£30 green fee range? Specifically ones you've played on the channel so I can go and have a rewatch. Which one was that crazy newish, mountainous little secret course in Snowdonia maybe, am I remembering right? Many thanks James, I like the Thai rounds almost as much, but I'll likely never visit them, whereas the Wales ones I will often watch twice as they're pretty local. Really though I like your presentation and relaxing approach, so I'd watch you play anywhere. Kindest regards, Lee
@@notaperfectgolfer3489What's every day life like in Thailand James? Might an old/golf mad codger, with a wife winter there?
@@LeeHobbies Nefyn is great, well worth the trek down there. For courses it depends on if you like links or parkland? Porthmadog is well worth visiting, the Snowdonia one is call St Deiniol and is now £32 a round. A buggy is a must at that one. You can't go wrong with a lot of the courses in the North Wales area as the green fee would be quadruple for the same in Scotland or South England. Have a great trip and happy birthday in advance! :)
@@briangray00 Most people don't bring their wives to Thailand. Winter is the best time to visit as it's the cool season. The golf is weird as caddies are compulsory but you soon get used to it. It can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be. I played 18 holes today and it cost
Great to see you playing and posting again James. You must be busy with work but we all wait for your new posts. Keep them coming and all the best my friend...
Cheers Andrew, I can't get out and play as often as I'd like to. Hopefully I can be play twice a week from now until the autumn :)
Great to see you posting videos
Cheers Jim, it's hard to post videos when your not playing. The 3 1/2 week break did more harm to my game then I expected. At least it makes for relatable content! :)
Well played again and no risk of sunburn this time!!! Great golf
Very true. When I played a couple of months ago it felt like my legs were on fire for 2 days lol :)
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 youre on fire now with your golf-well played and enjoy yourself
Nice video, always a pleasure to watch you play. Cheers from 🍁.
Cheers Daniel, hope the golfing season is treating you well :)
Enjoy the video! Keep them coming
Thanks for watching :)
James I would love to see a series of you getting some swing lessons :-) !
Maybe with a local golf pro who likes to teach farang ?
I will do this in the future at some point. Right now I'm not playing enough (as evident by the first 3 holes this day!) so will do this when I get a chance to practice more. I'm still really enjoying my rounds as a casual golfer regardless of what I shoot 👍👍👍
Love the videos James.. Shame to have a few bad holes ruin a score.. I know the feeling all too well.. I enjoy seeing the prices as well...
Cheers George, I was a little rusty on the first few holes and then the rain came down. Not an easy day on the course this one but at least it's relatable! :)
Good one James.
Some days the body just isn't working properly!😂
Love your BKK series.
🍻
I played 18 holes the other day and lost 5 balls. Looking forward to playing the more generous fairways of the UK this summer! Thanks for watching as always :)
Good recovery there James.
I was thinking of not posting this vid but at least there was some decent stuff later on
Blimey James that’s some rain at the end, just an off day for you.
Yeah, it wasn't my finest hour this round but I'm glad just to be playing weekly again. The roads were totally flooded on the way back home. I'm just thankful a Grab/Bolt taxi car turned up as it pelted it down for an hour or 2! Thanks for watching Peter :)
Any chance of any new videos James
When u back?
Really enjoyed this video. Are you living permanently in Thailand now or are you going back to Wales for the summer?
Cheers David, Live in Thailand & spend the summers in Wales :)
I do like how the guy practicing distracted you but rushing while the lightning siren was going couldnt touch your game !
This was definitely a unique round! haha :)
James - What is the merit in putting your putter down before you put on the closer ones? Thanks
It's a habit I do to check the 3ft range
Bit rusty on this day James. Happens to us all.
I never understood why the caddies in Asia is putting the golf bag on the side when they put it on the trolley, it is the same here in Indonesia.
I agree. They make all the pockets on one side of the bag completely useless!
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 absolutely. I have been trying to change it but that is impossible, so now I bought my own trolley so that bag is sitting correct. 👍
how much tip to give to caddy?
It depends. 300-500 baht for 18 holes is the normal range. For 9 holes it's less. Up to you really... :)
How much are those green fees in dollars?
Not much. It’s one of the cheapest courses in Thailand!
Certainly a bit rusty James. Hope you get out on the course a bit more.
Cheers Tim, I intend to. Heading to the range tomorrow morning 👍👍👍
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 good to hear.
Are you seriously a 14 handicap? It looks to me judging by your 3/4 swing etc that you are more like a 24-28 handicap?
Look at some of his earlier videos, was a very steady player last year but dont think James plays as much now. Nevertheless, one of the nicest guys on youtube.
3/4 swing has nothing to do with handicap. Lots of players hit it a long way with shorter swing. The question is do they hit it straight
Don't see the connection between a 3/4 swing and a high handicap 🤔
I doubt your ability to judge. I'm 23 - it's evident to me.
You're obviously a newb with no H/C with that analysis...do you also doubt Jon Rahm is as low as 14 with his backswing....you can get down to that with a half swing. You don't need to look like Mcilroy to be 14 lol
14.8 hcp and he's 12 over after 9????? A very short and flat track. Nope. He plays well in 1 in 5 videos and he was an 11.6 hcp at one time. Once again, nope. A nice guy but his hcp is way off.
