It’s funny how different we are all taught how to paint, but in the end we get the same results! I walk the entire length of the vehicle with base, and clear! Nice job man
Thanks Justin !
My gun doesn't atomize clear well enough for me to stop in the middle of the panel so I'm forced to do the full length in one go.
@@ThatV12MiataBruh slow the clear down
@@PaintSociety my problem is that I'm painting in my home garage so I need the clear is dry as fast as possible. You're right though, I'm sure even a medium clear will lay out much better as it cures.
What is a good and affordable way to get comfortable with a spray gun and practice overlap. I’ve tried water but doesn’t really tell me much.
You have taught me so much brian. I want to express my sincere gratitude for you and your videos. I considered myself an amateur and then I discovered your videos. You teach me so much, and I have watched every single video you've put out. I just sprayed my first Best of Show winning car here in Washington state. And It's all thanks to you! Thanks again. Can't wait for the next one (it took 41 complete color changes before the 42nd car won best of show btw, so it wasn't over night. But it is thanks to you!)
This channel does the same for me, though I only started a few years ago so its great to hear what you achieved with the help of this channel
Brilliant. I have a classic. It needs painting each time I watch one of your video s I learn a little when I feel I have enough information I will paint my car. Thank you for empowering me to attempt this
Great results on your example car, great video with you narrating as you did the work and no silly music or rambling on. Thank you for the quality video.
Watching your videos have been making me even more excited to go back to school for second year which is paint. Great content!!
That’s awesome!!
Starting 2023 strong! That intro is so professional, pretty soon you gonna have a film crew with you on these jobs. Great tutorials as always
Thanks mark!
I like to pick up random inexpensive used body panels like hoods and fenders to practice on when I haven't picked up my paint gun in a while.
Some leftover base coat and clear gives me an opportunity to practice on some insignificant sheet metal.
Cool thing is I can cut and polish those same panels, then sand and respray them again and repeat.
Excellent work Brian 👍🏽 and happy new year my friend.
God bless you and all your family 🙏🏻
Ha ! wish you had posted this 2 days ago, painted some base coat over some etch and it reacted! i had no idea why at the time. ill watch this vid 100 times, its a lot of information, thankyou again! hope you have a good new year mate!!! take care from England
Brian, I watched your videos for 3 months and it finally had the courage to paint the car. It was a 3 month project but I went from Apex Silver to Alfa Romeo Red on my Evo 9. If you’re interested, I would like you to see the car and May be use it in your RUclips content. I live in northwest Florida and I can stop by and visit the area. You helped me a lot
That's a very pretty blue. Nice job, it looks excellent
I wanted to spray my motorcycle fairings on my ZX-10R. A fresh Kawasaki green. I understand the concept of spraying base and clear but I get super confused on what equipment to get, reducer, primer, filler, etc etc at all gets complicated. Maybe I should try rattle canning it with clear 2k for my first go around?
Great information today. Thank you for taking time to make these. Happy New Year Brian.
Another great instructional video. Can you do one on how to estimate how much paint to mix up given the scope of the project
Nice and straight to the point, great video, thanks mate!
Hey Brian you doing ok haven’t seen any new material in awhile! Thanks for all the helpful information!
Thanks Brian
Great video! I like to add some activator to my intercoat(if it allows it). That helps to make sure there's a chemical bond all the way through.
Was this done with finish 1 clear coat?? Keep up the awesome work and video's!!!
I’m sad to say that I have learned more from your videos Brian then when shadowing in a production shop. With material you present and way you cover it it’s getting me amped to dig back into my old color change project car that I’ve stored away for years because of concern with messing up what was already accomplished with the jams being painted by who I thought would guide me through entire process but didn’t.
The videos are great! Production shop painters don’t always have the time to teach but I do !
I love a freshly cleared car nothing looks better
Happy New Year Brian. Wishing you and the family all the best for 2023 & beyond....keep up the great teachings my man 🤜🤛
Awesome video Brian happy New Year 🎆 to you and the family guidance and respect for 2023 and thanks 🙏 for sharing those useful tips with us keep bringing those boss videos for 2023 paint society all the way 👍😂i really enjoyed that video much love ❤️ have a bless Sunday Brian 🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍🎆🎆✨✨👌👌👌💯💯💯💯👊👊
Happy new year Kimo!!
The hardest thing for painting a car ourselves is finding a booth. i did it in my driveway and the bugs and dust killed the whole thing.
I bought a cheap tent from Harbor freight, I put paintable plastic on the walls and two fans in front I spent less than $200 and it worked very well. I had the same problem because I live in Mississippi.
I put up a ton of plastic sheet...looks like a Dexter scene when I'm ready to paint...
Brian, what color is this? I like it, TY
It would have been good to see you do a beginner's guide to painting whole car on a BUDGET.
Sure!
Superb information, thanks yet again..,
Hello Brian . I am a beginner and your video really helped me a lot .I've been watching your videos but my English listening is not very good . Could I ask you a question ? In this 3:30 minutes, what types of products did you use? Thank you !
Blending additive
this makes me want to actually find a job as a helper and take the I-car Paint and refinishing class at my Community College
Thank you for the video Happy New Year
excellent work friend a hug from Guimarães. Portugal
What do you look for of if it needs another coat of clear or not? Would we try to put an extra layer on just to be able to buff and polish more without burning through?
Thank u Brian for always taking ur time to explain thoroughly ure truly a Blessing….can u do a review on the TCP 44-pro series please 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Will do
Hi Brian, can you make a video about single stage paint?
Yes
I would like to see you paint a Nissan 350Z in black I'm a big fan of your channel 😉
That looked really good
Thanks for the great instructions. I have not sprayed since I was at Automotive Tech, in college 1999. Just one question. Can I fix and spray a door moulding on the vehicle? This moulding is not offered as a new part for my 22 year old Infiniti.
I would like to see something along the line of paint prep decision. Do you sand all the paint down to bare metal or sand existing paint to bond to the new paint?
Particularly with older cars. It does not make sense to me, to grind to bare metal when you have a sound paint barrier already there. Is this a money grab or something else?
What sort of check list can you go through to determine if you need to sand to bare metal or prep what ya got. Obviously one method is more expensive than the other with labor hours and materials.
Great video, thxs for sharing 👍
could you do a video on a older paint job, mid 80s? I would like to clean up the paint but not looking for show quality , I just want to seal the paint and fix many small rust spots . I also have a scratch down the entire passenger side from a razor knife (some one got mad because I took "their" parking spot). The front edge of the hood for example has the paint mainly intact but has many small chips that have surface rust in them . I guess I would need to remove all the older paint , factory filler, down to bare metal across the entire front edge of the hood to fix the spots ?
Got you. I’ll see what content I can create
Hi from Russia 🇷🇺 I love lada granta, borneo colour.
Can you do a video on how to paint door jams properly.
Ty for ur time
GEMS. 💎
Another great video, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for another great tutorial. You go over many things in various videos, but each one has a few different nuggets of information to learn. Are you doing a cut/buff after these jobs, or releasing them right out of the booth?
Your videos are very good. I like all your jobs, even if your work was of better quality by disarming sometimes the missing parts as in this video the door handles
can you review those diy paint booths people spring up in they backyard? lol
Thanks for the tips, do you have videos on Edge Mapping?
Those rings you get after bondo then primer. How to fix? Or What you did wrong for that to happen?
Hello, I love your show, thank you so mach, do you have a body shop as well, what state are you in, if near by I like to be a customer.
I think its important to mention that there are different tack rags available, be sure to use a basecoat specific tack rag when tacking basecoat and also to use very light pressure when doing so. Another thing for beginners is to NEVER use generic cut up clothing rags for wiping down the panel with wax and grease remover and to only use preparation rags for this as the detergents in these old clothes will react with the wax and grease remover and cause wipe down marks in the newly sprayed basecoat.
Hey thanks for the videos and teachings, I watched a few videos as im wanting to paint an aluminum boat. I'm using an acrylic black paint. Can the 2k primer be used on aluminum? As you can't have any primer with copper as it will eat the aluminum. I came here wanting to learn about sanding primer and your videos answered my concerns. Also if I can't use 2k primer I was going to use a epoxy barrier coat type primer. And then sand it and then spray it. Your thought or advice if any. Thanks
Braian the best 👍🏻 thank you bro
Why shouldn’t I use a can primer ? Just curious cause that’s what I was going to use for just some body work
Happy new year from Romania!
Happy new year!
When should you use white / grey / black primers?
Hey, I’m doing a full paint job. I’m spraying in a big tent, I was able to base but not clear because it getting late and bugs. Can I just clear over it in the morning? Almost I saw a tiger stripe on the roof, when I clear will it be noticeable?
I am a girl and I want to paint my Chevy Astro van. I do a lot of stuff in my car by myself, I have fixed many stuff just learning on RUclips
One thing I struggle to find information on is how much paint to mix. Would love to see you show the amount in your cup
Will do
Great job, thank you for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sincerely:)
nice work ..
Hi Brian, love your videos and really appreciate your videos and time you commit to help us abd really appreciate your help mate thanx.
A weekend worrier here and I need to add some white pearls to a white paint on a full car I am Planning to paint in Future to make the paint look like the Toyota Pearl look . The white Pearl intermediate coat is quiet expensive so I Was thinking of mixing some automotive grade white pearls ( mica and titanium oxide powder mixed together and sold as Pearl pigment on eBay) mix to the 2k clear and putting it over the white base. I was thinking if you could or anyone reading would help me in the Below methods I was thinking of doing please. By the way as the base I am Putting a 2k single stage white since I already have this from another job and dint want to spend more money on this car.
Method 1- 2k single stage white followed by 2k clear followed by 2k clear mix with Pearl followed by 2/3 coats of 2k- 3 later system
Method 2- 2k single stage white followed by 2k clear mix with Pearl followed by 2k clear followed by 2/3 coats of 2k - 3 later system
Method 3 - 2k single stage white followed by 2k clear mix with Pearl & small amount of 2k single stage white followed by 2k clear followed by 2/3 coats of 2k - 3 later system
You don't have any videos of blending let's say white 2k. As far as I can see it'd clear coat base. I ma watch how to blend clear
Thank you
Thanks.
Hey Brian so I’m planning on painting my engine bay shortly here on my 1989 Nissan 240sx I’m currently in the process of doing some rust repair than I’ll go ahead and scuff the whole bay with a maroon scuffing pad, all the areas with bare metal will get a self etching primer than a 2k primer and than I’ll do base and clear to the whole bay does this process sound solid? As well in terms of brand what would you recommend in terms of getting the base mixed up in and clear?
Beautiful
Why didn't you post a link to all the tools needed to do garage car painting at home
Happy new year!! Another great video.
I'm very new to painting. I'm using a turbine paint system to do my 55 chevy this summer. Could you go go thru trigger technique? When are you letting off the trigger? It looks like your flicking your wrist and the end of the pass and not letting off.Just looking to clarify so I can get this right. Thank you
That’s a great video topic. Happy new year!
Sorry random question do you think I get away with painting my trailer with a Fuji simi pro system ?
Happy New Year
Happy new year
Brian is buffing mandatory, or if you spray a killer clear its good to go?
where can we buy Paint Society tee shirts ??
You forgot to leave the link in descritption for blending aditive.
It’s there
Didn't see the 2K Primer you mentioned listed. Can you post the brand/product, please?
Added it. Sorry
Brian, how much base coat did you mix up for that job?
Your the best
In one of your videos where you click on show more what products you use and where to buy off of amazon, you listed oil eater you use to degrease before painting, is that good or ok to use? i always buy that to clean up spilt oil or whatever off my garage floor but never heard of using it to degrease before painting.
Let me check it. Amazon might have changed the listing
@@PaintSociety think it was last weeks video.
Hi Brian,is the blending additive single or two pack
What grit do you start sanding the primer at on block and what grit when you swap to D A ? Thanks
320 block and 400 da
what do you guys mean by lay flat a coat? thanks
If some emergency comes along where you have to stop between time sensitive coats what action should be taken?
Depends which coats. Most of the time recommend rescuff, 1 coat of that previous layer of paint, then continue to your next step.
How long u usually wait before u peel tape off??
Which of the 4 guns linked above would you recommend for the DIYer? There are so many options. Thanks. Happy New Year.
Blue astro
Awesome thanks!
Wow, that DV1 sprays so nice! What size tip did you use on the clear?
Mine came with a 1.3, but Devilbiss has a different name for the cap. Fan size is huge, Love it..
@@Formulabruce Thanks, that's the one I'm going to buy.
hello, I would like to ask you what is the best clear coat spray for the car that does not peel off from the sun or frost when it is very cold outside, honestly
Check my recent videos to see
I thought it was common practice to paint from the top of the panel to the bottom. Or is there a reason you start from bottom then paint up?
Personal preference. You can see your wet edge better from bottom up
@@PaintSociety ok, i wasnt trying to pick your work apart, i actually learning tons from you, thank you for what you do. Im inspired to try to paint my thunderbird
Nice paint color. Where are you located?
150/220/320 /400 /600 paint it,you need at least s 60 gallon air compressor
How much base did that take?
Hey, do you think the silver aluminum sheets from home depot are worth denting for body work practice and spray painting? Besides going to a junk yard for body panels.
No. Go to a body shop and ask for old parts or just get a cheap aftermarket fender online.
@@PaintSociety thank you!
@@PaintSociety Wrecking yards can be another cheap source for practice panels.
Thanks for the video, and happy new year!
What’s the paint code on this beauty ?
Acrylic can primer sucks in my opinion
Is there a cordless or corded da sander available? My da uses alot of air ..
search Airvantage sanders. Pricey but its good. There are certified refurbished/renewed on ebay for lesser price.
What color Is that?
Would you consider the 3M PPS a good gun for beginners?
Yes but there are cheaper options
@@PaintSociety any opinion on the HF copy of PPS 1?
Hello color code please?
12:15 The Finished Result
Sorry for my ignorance, but what is a "DA"? OR DID I HEAR WRONG A "DH"? SANDINF
Do you teach one on one?
