"NOOOOOO! MONICA!!!" could be the greatest movie line ever captured on celluloid. Joking aside, this was the first of three DVDs I ever purchased back in the day, which is why it has a near and dear place in my heart. It's infinitely re-watchable, and still has one of the best sound mixes from the electronic music artist BT. The excellent use of DTS 5.1 encoding, which was a revelation at the time, blew me away when experiencing it on a proper home theater setup.
ive been a fan of the series since i borrowed my dads copy of FF1 and watched it on my portable DVD player. i just loved the awesome cars along with the hot women, then the characters were really good, my favorite since the beginning was brian o connor. but it inspired me to not get into car enthsiast but to be interested in the NFS video game series starting with the 2005 NFS Most Wanted, seeing the cool cars and running from the cops were exciting to me,

The first one and tokyo drift are amazing, they are grounded and it's a believable story, no cars jumping from planes, no characters coming back to life..if you havent seen them in a while, go for it
2fast was fun too obviously it was cheesy but still fun nobody is watching fast and furious for realism and deep story telling, 2 had cool cars and great race scenes i would include 2
1 - 4 was about street racing mixed with the criminal underworld. 5 - 7 started going into action territory, but still very enjoyable. 8 and 9 went berserk, specially the latter. I miss the old days, specially 1 and 3, but I can't say the latter movies were bad ( except 9, I've hated it ). Times have changed and numbers are the priority, but that doesn't mean the first movies will ever vê forgotten. Even if hardcore fans aren't keen on the direction that new movies went, they will still go and watch them. And that's what makes the first movie a classic: legacy.

I think it’s a man’s matter of personal taste as well, I mean not everyone can be expected to like all these movies, they get a definite Michael bay vibe going on in the later episodes where is the first ones at least had a hint of realism….. it’s impressive that they rebounded from Tokyo drift, though, I thought that was the nail in the coffin just because pretty much the whole cast left, even though in hindsight, it’s one of the most fun ones it just feels like a different franchise, kind of, like gone in 60 seconds, like same genre, different franchise
I had no interest in cars until I saw this movie. Then a 20 year old me went down the modding rabbit hole and learnt how to rebuild cars and engines. Shame the newer movies are so out of touch which this awesome beginning. That Jetta is still awesome!
Actually, if I recall correctly, FF1 was filmed and finished BEFORE Pitch Black, but Universal delayed its release by several months to see how Pitch Black fared at the box office and if Vin Diesel was a marketable leading man.

It was a good franchise up until the 4th one. That's when Vin Diesel got his grubby hands on it I believe. They should have stopped at 3, and REALLY should have stopped once Paul died. This was HIS franchise. Vin had to take it from him so he'd actually have a career.
@Kangarooster I both agree and disagree, but such is life. I was never a big fan of the F&F movies but seeing it at a young age and then spending hundreds of hours with the NFS Underground series.. I truly felt a piece of my heart break when I heard about Paul. Similar with Heath Ledger, Leslie Nielsen, Robin Williams and even Steve Irwin. I don't know if it was because of their characters were so dear to me or because I was young and wasn't able to properly process grief and/or loss but they all struck a chord. Even more so than when my grandparents passed away... but with relatives I think it's somewhat always easier - I knew they were sick, I knew the were in bad shape, I knew they were struggling even with out the illnesses that eventually killed them. (People in old age usually have different underlying issues.. mine did.. )

I didn’t think Amanda made a good villain, she annoyed me…. I couldn’t stand all the retconning with each new installment. But two was definitely better than anything that came after it. This really was a great movie… it wasn’t 100% realistic but it was cool to see… it’s pretty much a modern western.. clearly the best out of every single movie in the series… growing up in Brooklyn people would go drag racing in fountain Avenue or hunts point don’t forget Englishtown… I’ve seen really crazy races I was in a few myself those were the times
A classic cheesy but classic I brought the DVD of it back in 2009 I always watch it right in time of a new movie coming out just to see how far they come also it's only overlooked or not talked about as much because it wasn't supposed to be what it is now as a franchise

When I first watched The Fast and the Furious when it came out, all I could think of was Keanu Reeves in Point Break. The entire structure and plot beats are taken directly from that movie. The whole time watching it and munching popcorn, I kept thinking this is Point Break with cars.
2002. Back in the good old days when Don was just a street racer with a side hustle of stealing DVDs from trucks with his crew. You could guess the amount of crazy this franchise will get.
Also, I personally think the sequel too fast too furious was even better than the first movie slightly in almost every way. I also think Tokyo Drift, while straying from the main cast and storyline, may have also been just as good as the first.
The 2nd and Tokyo Drift gave it a anthology feel of the series instead of the regular stars and killing off some on screen unlike Walkers death unfortunately.
Tokyo Drift is a very solid movie It's believably in depth, deep in moments it needs to be and lighter in others With lots of attention to detail, allegories, setups and payoffs which are very well executed
2F2F is my favourite but this is a close second. Just something nostalgic and grounded about the early ones. I know you can’t stay in that world forever but I think since they went “international” they’ve lost a lot of the charm

I feel as if the first movie would have been a great "one and done" type movie! If it was the only movie in the franchise, it would be timeless. The chemistry between Brian and Dom are what make the movie. The concept of an undercover cop in the street racing world who becomes conflicted about where his loyalty lies when his best friend turns out to be his mark is good. After the first movie came out, I think people just wanted to see one good sequel with Dom and Brian in it. I don't think anyone anticipated that there would eventually be ten movies.
As a kid in high school, this movie was my life. Such a fun and entertaining flick. When i bought the DVD, i watched it everyday after school for 2 weeks straight. It launched my car enthusiast craze!!!
Well, considering that the article was merely an inspiration for the franchise, rather than an actual story that got adapted into a script, I think getting a six figure USD payout, even if it is on the low end, is still a pretty good deal. Especially since no-one knew how big the franchise would end up getting. If he had been able to forsee that, than sure, asking for a percent of the gross (even 0.5% of just the first movie would have been a million, never mind adding the sequels) but there are far more movies that flop or get mediocre returns than there are runaway successes that launch a franchise.
Thank god you will look at 2 Fast 2 Furious, it is an absolute gold mine of cheesy lines. You can Tell that Brian and Roman were great friends in real life too.
Watched the movie back in the day, when I was right the target group, and I loved it (like the original Point Break). Can't say the same for the sequels though, beside a soft spot for Tokyo Drift I think the franchise really jumped the shark and then decided to make that their motto.
To me, every movie until the spin-off in '19, and then F9 in 21, are all great with obvious flaws. Vin and Paul really shine as the reasons these movies are such hits. Even with the unfortunate absence of Paul since 2013, I still think they can continue and I only hope Fast X will be a good movie, especially better than F9
@Brazy Filmo everyone has their opinions, and they're fair ones. But they clearly have a good idea of what makes the audience come back, despite the 9th one being the worst of the films. Honestly, as long as they're entertaining, idc if they keep going because with other movies being so political, it's nice having dumb fun action to watch and these movies are dumb fun.
this whole franchise started because criminals were stealing dvd players to finance their street racing. now they are avengers in cars, traveling to space and crashing submarines.
I remember driving home from seeing this movie in the theater, listening to Linkin Park's Point's of Authority. "you can't run the race, the pace is too fast, you just won't last."
A CLASSIC! Produced in 2000 / last year of the 20th century. Released in June 2001, only 3 months before 9/11… Different lifetime… It’s my favorite movie out of the franchise!
As many others do, I cherish this original F&F movie, which remains to this day the only one I've watched in its entirety (multiple times, of course!). It came out when I was at the right age to enjoy it, and man, if I did, despite the numerous technical flaws that all car guys like me spotted right away :)
You forgot about the motorcycles and dirt bikes also. There weren't just fast cars for teens to admire, but the fast motorcycle scenes with drive bys on them as well.
I remember seeing this in theaters as a kid and before I watched it, I thought it was gonna be some dumb movie my parents were dragging my brother and I to. Gotta admit, I really enjoyed it and have a good time watching the sequels. Even now, still this is a still a favorite of mine.
Definitely an enjoyabe video. Didnt realize the correlation between Point Break. I movie I definitely have to watch and see. This and Toyko Drift are the only two movies I'll see. Not because I think Im too good. Its because the other ones are so over the top. Seems like working on a tight budget and allowing the director and producer have free reign really molded the movie into what it came to be. Having the cast have more of a say in their characters like Dom and Letty really gave the characters depth and the movie much more of a backstory than what you would expect from a racing movie. The Franchise can be summed up like in businesses. A small business starts up as a start up and is successful because of autonomy of the founder then the founder decides to sell and its goppled up into a larger corporate entity and it comes sterilzed and without emotion. When Dawne Johnsons characters pick up a gatling gun and shoots down a helicopter in a major city that was my walk away moment. The James Bond franchise movies with Daniel Craig can be over the top. The John Wick franchise with Keanu Reeves can be over the top. But they have depth and the action can be believable. I can watch the OG film easily once a year for nostalgia. Credit is due however later in the franchise with the Brian O'Connor farewell scene. Easily can make a grown man cry.
I grew up in Southern California during the time this movie came out. There is very few movies that have had a cultural impact the way this movie had during this time. So many suped up Honda Civics hitting the SoCal roads and everyone wanting to upgrade their rice rockets. Even to this day the impact is still present among American culture.
The first one Truely and only...! A group of friends evolving about street racing and tuning that was very trendy at that period!!! Great storytelling ,performance and realism🔥🔥🔥🔥from director , casts and actors.....and the final chase Truck scene, as a tribute to MadMax 2 and Steven Spielperg's Duel ...as we never saw the face or knew who this merciless driver was ... ...and Paul will always being remembered in that topnotch rescuing scene , that so EPIC moment of Fast and Furious Saga of Alltime!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I'm more into "Gone In 60 Seconds". The idea to steal a bunch of cars in one night was something I thought was new and cool to see in a film. I saw the first one & what stuck out to me was that there had to be an easier way to rob a truck. I'm ok with not watching any of the other films in the franchise & I'm glad there wasn't a sequel to "Gone in 60 Seconds"....
Correction: The big race at the beginning in downtown LA was not a quarter mile. It was much longer. You can see they blocked off miles of highway in preparation. Race Wars in the desert at the end was more of a quarter mile race.
I don't think a nitros oxide system would explode like that. Nitros oxide is nitrogen and oxygen at different levels to what we breathe so if the system were to experience a puncture, it might make some of the flames burn hotter or might actually put the fire out (remember the fire triangle: oxygen/fuel/heat all have to be in correct amounts, if there is too much or too little of one or more of those 3 components, no fire).
Haha one of the first movies I watched on DVD and a plasma tv. It was huge at the time, the transition from VHS to DVD was so cool to experience. People laugh that they were stealing DVD players...those things were worth ALOT of money when the technology first came out. Jessie was my favourite character.

The first one was a classic in my eyes. It also came at the right time as not much earlier we got the Midnight club game. The setting and cars was good, it almost felt like a promotion movie towards tuner/jdm cars. 2F2F for was not as good as the first, but it was still entertaining and had some comedy. The first 3 movies was peak FNF for me, after that it focused more on action and tried to give us cars too. I guess it was to prevent the franchise of getting stale, but it honestly didn't work in the long run to me. I remember the NFS high stakes opening scene almost taking a jab at tuner cars, a few years later we got underground.
This is the only film that actually had real tension, real world consequences and legit no holds bar action. Like you were extremely nervous for Brian's well being once you found out he was working with cops, Dom in the first movie was a legit psychopath all about loyalty. He beat a guy half to death with a wrench because he accidentally caused his dad to crash ending his life. Talking about how he heard his dad screaming in the crash, but that people around him said he was the one who actually screaming smh hell naw. Dom was Tuco Salamanca without the drug habit, with a higher intellect and just as unpredictably crazy. People died and could be extremely injured if mistakes were made, now these movies feel like soap operas with action. Once they brought Letty back and used the she had amnesia cliche, I was straight up done with fast and the furious movies
I’ll give it to you all in a nutshell. There have been many great ride movies in cinematic movies: Goodfellas, Blow, Point Break, Lord Of War, Catch Me If You Can, Donnie Brasco, etc. Just about all of them follow the classic western literary theme of rise, climax, fall with main character developing, has a fatal flaw, etc. What FnF somehow managed to do was take one of these movies, Point Break, and changed the ending from “he’s not coming back” to “I owe you a ten second car.” That turned the thing from a movie with a classic literary plot, into a motion picture comic book. People will want to see what happens to the character next and will even tolerate a bad issue/episode here and there because they want to know what happens next to these characters just like why people read every issue of Batman or Spider-Man.
I don’t think this movie is amazing, but it is definitely a very fun action movie and is the one that started this franchise! I definitely kinda have a soft spot for this one too.

I grew up with the first bunch of movies, right together with back then games like Need for Speed Underground and I'm 100% honest: The first bunch of movies of them are classics but not really good ones. I definetely love all of the movies but the first two where just a very broken mix of "Take myself serious" and "Try to be just a lighthearted, almost comedic movie". In the end, they were non of it, you couldn't really take them serious nor could you just have a laugh with them, it's hard to explain. And I'm not talking about "Over the top" action but in therms of the stories they told and their emotional tone. From the 4th one up until the "modern" movies from today, they are much more dark, serious and less goofy, almost a bit edgy at times and still manage to throw a couple of gags into the mix. Which comes mostly trough a very charismatic cast (I can't do anything but love Tyrese Gibson ♥). The action sure is over the top, but as I said, that's not what I'm talking about when I say they take themselves serious or not. And people who go into an action movie and then seriously talking about realism are the biggest dumbasses anyway tbh. Not like those movies ever been realistic or much "grounded". Not at all, trust me. The best ones to me really were 4-7, Tokyo Drift being extremely underrated, then 1 & 2 but purely for nostalgic reasons and then the rest. 4-7 just hit the perfect sweet spot for me in therms of tone. TD was just simply good, 1 & 2 are goofy as fuck and the rest are.. Well, just not the same without Paul anymore. And now even with the Rock gone, theres even more missing. As previously said, rating an action movie after how "realistic" it is, is just god damn dumb which is why I cann barely take any people serious, when they critisize or praise these movies, cause that is; for some reason; everything everyone seems to talk about. What comes next? We critisize Percy Jackson cause the magic they use wasnn't realistic enough?

I didn't see it until it came out on HBO, but instantly recognized it would be one of those "time capsule" movies that captured the spirit of the time from which it came. It's laughable today to hear that they're hijacking a truck of "DVD players"! And "you can find out anything about anyone on the internet". In that sense, there's a naivete' about it that makes me want to forget there were ever any sequels (only 2 of which I've actually seen) at all.
What I loved about the first 2 was it showed cars driven by the PEOPLE, the mods were expensive but it wasn't unreal to think they could afford it since cars were their life. Now its just bugatties, mclarens ferraries. no more built in monitors for playing ps2 in the car :/ real shame.
Man that movie came out just as my generation of young dudes was getting their learner's licenses. Chaos ensued. I'll admit, I bought into it, but in my defense, I already long been a fan of Need For Speed. Despite all the flash, it DID manage to get me interested in car maintenance enough that I can do some basic maintenance on my car. No, it's not a tricked out Toyata Supra or a Pontiac GTO, rather a bright orange 2019 Hyundai Kona. Also, DO check out the movie Redline. It's awesome.
Definitely not overrated but it also doesn't quite make it to being a full-on classic either. It doesn't even rest in the middle of the two. It's a film that isn't forgettable nor is it bad. Although, it's a far better remake of Point Break than the actual Point Break remake.

I went to see this movie in the theater with a group of actual illegal teen street racers in California, and they were very into being mythologized so. They probably didn't appreciate me explaining to them in the lobby directly after that what they just watched was a far lesser remake of Point Break swapping out surfing for street racing. Ironically its cinematographer Ericson Core went on to direct the official remake of Point Break - which isn't nearly so deserving of how maligned it seems to be. It can't top the original of course, but contrary to popular belief it WAS well directed, and even had some stellar practical extreme sports stunt sequences. Ericson Core is an underrated filmmaker, I think his only real poor decision was in the post production digital intermediate to give his fine cinematography an unnatural and sort of starkly oppressive muted green color palette that drained much of the energy from the imagery which it sorely needed to feel alive and vibrant - presumably just so his version would be distinctly modern. I still think it's a better movie than "The Fast and the Furious" though. Ericson Core's other directed films "Invincible" and "Togo" are both pretty great in my opinion. The only film in the Fast franchise which I think is legitimately deserving of its success is Fast Five. That one was pretty well accomplished and darn entertaining.
I love this video! The research and care put into it is awesome. I love this movie and it's one of my all time favorites. I think it's classic because you can watch it any time or re-watch it as much as you like and it never gets boring. Can't wait to watch your next video. Are you doing the entire franchise?

My favourite Fast and Furious films are the first 7 films of this franchise including spinoff films like Better Luck Tomorrow and Hobbs & Shaw, Other Fast and Furious films aren't that goated tbh wish the franchise should've ended after the 7th film.
It's always the little things that make the difference, producers insisting on authenticity actors taking the time to study their characters etc. Hollywood has lost a lot of that which is sad

first 2 fast and furious movies (The Fast and the Furious & 2 fast 2 furious) definitely a classic back when it was about street racing and about Paul's character when his character was a main protagonist.
Name me a more influential movie 1) 8 or so sequels making more cash than small countries do 2) ignited the Max Power scene 3) got some idiot to take a 6yr old Rover 416i and mod the F out of it. God I miss that car
As soon as i saw this movie i realized that they stole the formula and idea from Point Break since im a huge fan of that movie. But i loved The Fast and Furious and because a instant classic with me even thought im more into American Muscle than imports. R.I.P. Paul Walker.
CERTIFIED CLASSIC Like, c'mon whole generations grown up with this movie and then whole series. This franchise influenced whole movie industry, and whole fuckin generation of people around the globe. Everybody remembers quotes from this series and cars from (especially, but not only) first movie are >Collectors Items< growing on value every year! It also launched multiple actor's careers like no other movie could. Other movies need big names to sell - this movie MADE big names. If this ain't a classic then I don't know what is.
Reminds me of the Friday the 13th franchise. All of the movies are campy cheesy (even the first), but the first film was good enough to somehow merit 10 or so sequels...and, in that, some sequels are better than others...a mix of average and poor, with one in the middle (IV: The Final Chapter; Fast Five) that was just as good as the first before completely going bananas.
I like that at least with the original, they attempted to give you a sense of street racing culture - well, movie street racing culture. I wish they’d done more with that, but that wasn’t the goal. The rest of the movies were just standard action films.
I think 2 Fast 2 Furious was good too. I think the most unbelievable part of that movie was the jump to the boat. Other than that, it was relatively grounded.

I had no interest in cars until I saw this movie. Then a 20 year old me went down the modding rabbit hole and learnt how to rebuild cars and engines. Shame the newer movies are so out of touch which this awesome beginning. That Jetta is still awesome!

Actually, if I recall correctly, FF1 was filmed and finished BEFORE Pitch Black, but Universal delayed its release by several months to see how Pitch Black fared at the box office and if Vin Diesel was a marketable leading man.

It was a good franchise up until the 4th one. That's when Vin Diesel got his grubby hands on it I believe. They should have stopped at 3, and REALLY should have stopped once Paul died. This was HIS franchise. Vin had to take it from him so he'd actually have a career.

I was never a big fan of the F&F movies but seeing it at a young age and then spending hundreds of hours with the NFS Underground series..
I truly felt a piece of my heart break when I heard about Paul.
Similar with Heath Ledger, Leslie Nielsen, Robin Williams and even Steve Irwin.
I don't know if it was because of their characters were so dear to me or because I was young and wasn't able to properly process grief and/or loss but they all struck a chord.
Even more so than when my grandparents passed away... but with relatives I think it's somewhat always easier - I knew they were sick, I knew the were in bad shape, I knew they were struggling even with out the illnesses that eventually killed them. (People in old age usually have different underlying issues.. mine did.. )
Saw 2 is still the best one of the series .

I didn’t think Amanda made a good villain, she annoyed me…. I couldn’t stand all the retconning with each new installment. But two was definitely better than anything that came after it. This really was a great movie… it wasn’t 100% realistic but it was cool to see… it’s pretty much a modern western.. clearly the best out of every single movie in the series… growing up in Brooklyn people would go drag racing in fountain Avenue or hunts point don’t forget Englishtown… I’ve seen really crazy races I was in a few myself those were the times
A classic cheesy but classic I brought the DVD of it back in 2009 I always watch it right in time of a new movie coming out just to see how far they come also it's only overlooked or not talked about as much because it wasn't supposed to be what it is now as a franchise

When I first watched The Fast and the Furious when it came out, all I could think of was Keanu Reeves in Point Break. The entire structure and plot beats are taken directly from that movie. The whole time watching it and munching popcorn, I kept thinking this is Point Break with cars.

Also, I personally think the sequel too fast too furious was even better than the first movie slightly in almost every way. I also think Tokyo Drift, while straying from the main cast and storyline, may have also been just as good as the first.

The 2nd and Tokyo Drift gave it a anthology feel of the series instead of the regular stars and killing off some on screen unlike Walkers death unfortunately.
Tokyo Drift is a very solid movie

I feel as if the first movie would have been a great "one and done" type movie! If it was the only movie in the franchise, it would be timeless. The chemistry between Brian and Dom are what make the movie. The concept of an undercover cop in the street racing world who becomes conflicted about where his loyalty lies when his best friend turns out to be his mark is good. After the first movie came out, I think people just wanted to see one good sequel with Dom and Brian in it. I don't think anyone anticipated that there would eventually be ten movies.
As a kid in high school, this movie was my life. Such a fun and entertaining flick. When i bought the DVD, i watched it everyday after school for 2 weeks straight. It launched my car enthusiast craze!!!
Well, considering that the article was merely an inspiration for the franchise, rather than an actual story that got adapted into a script, I think getting a six figure USD payout, even if it is on the low end, is still a pretty good deal. Especially since no-one knew how big the franchise would end up getting. If he had been able to forsee that, than sure, asking for a percent of the gross (even 0.5% of just the first movie would have been a million, never mind adding the sequels) but there are far more movies that flop or get mediocre returns than there are runaway successes that launch a franchise.
Thank god you will look at 2 Fast 2 Furious, it is an absolute gold mine of cheesy lines. You can Tell that Brian and Roman were great friends in real life too.

Watched the movie back in the day, when I was right the target group, and I loved it (like the original Point Break). Can't say the same for the sequels though, beside a soft spot for Tokyo Drift I think the franchise really jumped the shark and then decided to make that their motto.
The only problem that I had with "TFATF" was the chase scene where they passed the same 1978-79 black Lincon Mark 5 like 5 times on the downhill...
To me, every movie until the spin-off in '19, and then F9 in 21, are all great with obvious flaws. Vin and Paul really shine as the reasons these movies are such hits. Even with the unfortunate absence of Paul since 2013, I still think they can continue and I only hope Fast X will be a good movie, especially better than F9

It’s my favorite movie out of the franchise!
As many others do, I cherish this original F&F movie, which remains to this day the only one I've watched in its entirety (multiple times, of course!). It came out when I was at the right age to enjoy it, and man, if I did, despite the numerous technical flaws that all car guys like me spotted right away :)
You forgot about the motorcycles and dirt bikes also. There weren't just fast cars for teens to admire, but the fast motorcycle scenes with drive bys on them as well.
I remember seeing this in theaters as a kid and before I watched it, I thought it was gonna be some dumb movie my parents were dragging my brother and I to. Gotta admit, I really enjoyed it and have a good time watching the sequels. Even now, still this is a still a favorite of mine.

Definitely an enjoyabe video. Didnt realize the correlation between Point Break. I movie I definitely have to watch and see. This and Toyko Drift are the only two movies I'll see. Not because I think Im too good. Its because the other ones are so over the top. Seems like working on a tight budget and allowing the director and producer have free reign really molded the movie into what it came to be. Having the cast have more of a say in their characters like Dom and Letty really gave the characters depth and the movie much more of a backstory than what you would expect from a racing movie. The Franchise can be summed up like in businesses. A small business starts up as a start up and is successful because of autonomy of the founder then the founder decides to sell and its goppled up into a larger corporate entity and it comes sterilzed and without emotion. When Dawne Johnsons characters pick up a gatling gun and shoots down a helicopter in a major city that was my walk away moment. The James Bond franchise movies with Daniel Craig can be over the top. The John Wick franchise with Keanu Reeves can be over the top. But they have depth and the action can be believable. I can watch the OG film easily once a year for nostalgia. Credit is due however later in the franchise with the Brian O'Connor farewell scene. Easily can make a grown man cry.
I grew up in Southern California during the time this movie came out. There is very few movies that have had a cultural impact the way this movie had during this time. So many suped up Honda Civics hitting the SoCal roads and everyone wanting to upgrade their rice rockets. Even to this day the impact is still present among American culture.
The first one Truely and only...! A group of friends evolving about street racing and tuning that was very trendy at that period!!! Great storytelling ,performance and realism🔥🔥🔥🔥from director , casts and actors.....and the final chase Truck scene, as a tribute to MadMax 2 and Steven Spielperg's Duel ...as we never saw the face or knew who this merciless driver was ... ...and Paul will always being remembered in that topnotch rescuing scene , that so EPIC moment of Fast and Furious Saga of Alltime!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The idea to steal a bunch of cars in one night was something I thought was new and cool to see in a film.
I saw the first one & what stuck out to me was that there had to be an easier way to rob a truck.
I'm ok with not watching any of the other films in the franchise & I'm glad there wasn't a sequel to "Gone in 60 Seconds"....
Can you do a count of how many times Family is said in each movie? 2F2F or Tokyo Drift is probably the least amount it's used.
Correction: The big race at the beginning in downtown LA was not a quarter mile. It was much longer. You can see they blocked off miles of highway in preparation. Race Wars in the desert at the end was more of a quarter mile race.
I don't think a nitros oxide system would explode like that. Nitros oxide is nitrogen and oxygen at different levels to what we breathe so if the system were to experience a puncture, it might make some of the flames burn hotter or might actually put the fire out (remember the fire triangle: oxygen/fuel/heat all have to be in correct amounts, if there is too much or too little of one or more of those 3 components, no fire).
Haha one of the first movies I watched on DVD and a plasma tv. It was huge at the time, the transition from VHS to DVD was so cool to experience.
People laugh that they were stealing DVD players...those things were worth ALOT of money when the technology first came out.

The first one was a classic in my eyes. It also came at the right time as not much earlier we got the Midnight club game. The setting and cars was good, it almost felt like a promotion movie towards tuner/jdm cars. 2F2F for was not as good as the first, but it was still entertaining and had some comedy. The first 3 movies was peak FNF for me, after that it focused more on action and tried to give us cars too. I guess it was to prevent the franchise of getting stale, but it honestly didn't work in the long run to me. I remember the NFS high stakes opening scene almost taking a jab at tuner cars, a few years later we got underground.

This is the only film that actually had real tension, real world consequences and legit no holds bar action. Like you were extremely nervous for Brian's well being once you found out he was working with cops, Dom in the first movie was a legit psychopath all about loyalty. He beat a guy half to death with a wrench because he accidentally caused his dad to crash ending his life. Talking about how he heard his dad screaming in the crash, but that people around him said he was the one who actually screaming smh hell naw. Dom was Tuco Salamanca without the drug habit, with a higher intellect and just as unpredictably crazy. People died and could be extremely injured if mistakes were made, now these movies feel like soap operas with action. Once they brought Letty back and used the she had amnesia cliche, I was straight up done with fast and the furious movies

I’ll give it to you all in a nutshell. There have been many great ride movies in cinematic movies: Goodfellas, Blow, Point Break, Lord Of War, Catch Me If You Can, Donnie Brasco, etc. Just about all of them follow the classic western literary theme of rise, climax, fall with main character developing, has a fatal flaw, etc.
What FnF somehow managed to do was take one of these movies, Point Break, and changed the ending from “he’s not coming back” to “I owe you a ten second car.” That turned the thing from a movie with a classic literary plot, into a motion picture comic book. People will want to see what happens to the character next and will even tolerate a bad issue/episode here and there because they want to know what happens next to these characters just like why people read every issue of Batman or Spider-Man.
I don’t think this movie is amazing, but it is definitely a very fun action movie and is the one that started this franchise! I definitely kinda have a soft spot for this one too.

I grew up with the first bunch of movies, right together with back then games like Need for Speed Underground and I'm 100% honest: The first bunch of movies of them are classics but not really good ones. I definetely love all of the movies but the first two where just a very broken mix of "Take myself serious" and "Try to be just a lighthearted, almost comedic movie". In the end, they were non of it, you couldn't really take them serious nor could you just have a laugh with them, it's hard to explain. And I'm not talking about "Over the top" action but in therms of the stories they told and their emotional tone. From the 4th one up until the "modern" movies from today, they are much more dark, serious and less goofy, almost a bit edgy at times and still manage to throw a couple of gags into the mix. Which comes mostly trough a very charismatic cast (I can't do anything but love Tyrese Gibson ♥). The action sure is over the top, but as I said, that's not what I'm talking about when I say they take themselves serious or not. And people who go into an action movie and then seriously talking about realism are the biggest dumbasses anyway tbh. Not like those movies ever been realistic or much "grounded". Not at all, trust me.
The best ones to me really were 4-7, Tokyo Drift being extremely underrated, then 1 & 2 but purely for nostalgic reasons and then the rest. 4-7 just hit the perfect sweet spot for me in therms of tone. TD was just simply good, 1 & 2 are goofy as fuck and the rest are.. Well, just not the same without Paul anymore. And now even with the Rock gone, theres even more missing.
As previously said, rating an action movie after how "realistic" it is, is just god damn dumb which is why I cann barely take any people serious, when they critisize or praise these movies, cause that is; for some reason; everything everyone seems to talk about. What comes next? We critisize Percy Jackson cause the magic they use wasnn't realistic enough?

I didn't see it until it came out on HBO, but instantly recognized it would be one of those "time capsule" movies that captured the spirit of the time from which it came. It's laughable today to hear that they're hijacking a truck of "DVD players"! And "you can find out anything about anyone on the internet". In that sense, there's a naivete' about it that makes me want to forget there were ever any sequels (only 2 of which I've actually seen) at all.
What I loved about the first 2 was it showed cars driven by the PEOPLE, the mods were expensive but it wasn't unreal to think they could afford it since cars were their life.
Now its just bugatties, mclarens ferraries. no more built in monitors for playing ps2 in the car :/ real shame.
I think it's both. It is not an objectively good film but people and myself love it.

Man that movie came out just as my generation of young dudes was getting their learner's licenses. Chaos ensued. I'll admit, I bought into it, but in my defense, I already long been a fan of Need For Speed.
Despite all the flash, it DID manage to get me interested in car maintenance enough that I can do some basic maintenance on my car. No, it's not a tricked out Toyata Supra or a Pontiac GTO, rather a bright orange 2019 Hyundai Kona.
Also, DO check out the movie Redline. It's awesome.
Definitely not overrated but it also doesn't quite make it to being a full-on classic either. It doesn't even rest in the middle of the two. It's a film that isn't forgettable nor is it bad. Although, it's a far better remake of Point Break than the actual Point Break remake.

I went to see this movie in the theater with a group of actual illegal teen street racers in California, and they were very into being mythologized so. They probably didn't appreciate me explaining to them in the lobby directly after that what they just watched was a far lesser remake of Point Break swapping out surfing for street racing.
Ironically its cinematographer Ericson Core went on to direct the official remake of Point Break - which isn't nearly so deserving of how maligned it seems to be. It can't top the original of course, but contrary to popular belief it WAS well directed, and even had some stellar practical extreme sports stunt sequences. Ericson Core is an underrated filmmaker, I think his only real poor decision was in the post production digital intermediate to give his fine cinematography an unnatural and sort of starkly oppressive muted green color palette that drained much of the energy from the imagery which it sorely needed to feel alive and vibrant - presumably just so his version would be distinctly modern. I still think it's a better movie than "The Fast and the Furious" though. Ericson Core's other directed films "Invincible" and "Togo" are both pretty great in my opinion.
The only film in the Fast franchise which I think is legitimately deserving of its success is Fast Five. That one was pretty well accomplished and darn entertaining.
I love this video! The research and care put into it is awesome. I love this movie and it's one of my all time favorites. I think it's classic because you can watch it any time or re-watch it as much as you like and it never gets boring. Can't wait to watch your next video. Are you doing the entire franchise?

It's always the little things that make the difference, producers insisting on authenticity actors taking the time to study their characters etc. Hollywood has lost a lot of that which is sad

first 2 fast and furious movies (The Fast and the Furious & 2 fast 2 furious) definitely a classic back when it was about street racing and about Paul's character when his character was a main protagonist.

Like, c'mon whole generations grown up with this movie and then whole series. This franchise influenced whole movie industry, and whole fuckin generation of people around the globe. Everybody remembers quotes from this series and cars from (especially, but not only) first movie are >Collectors Items< growing on value every year! It also launched multiple actor's careers like no other movie could. Other movies need big names to sell - this movie MADE big names.

Reminds me of the Friday the 13th franchise. All of the movies are campy cheesy (even the first), but the first film was good enough to somehow merit 10 or so sequels...and, in that, some sequels are better than others...a mix of average and poor, with one in the middle (IV: The Final Chapter; Fast Five) that was just as good as the first before completely going bananas.
I like that at least with the original, they attempted to give you a sense of street racing culture - well, movie street racing culture. I wish they’d done more with that, but that wasn’t the goal. The rest of the movies were just standard action films.
