    I don't think the weird Al band gets enough credit. They have played parodies of every genre of popular music since the early eighties. Very talented musicians.

    • @andythefork
      @andythefork 3 года назад +109

      Absolutely. You know Al starts writing immediately when "Give It Away" comes out and is clearly a hit. He's got to get the spoofs out fast while the source material is still hot and culturally relevant. So he goes to his bassist and says "Listen, I'm writing a RHCP parody, I need you to figure out Flea's bassline, we're recording Friday." Yes that band is amazing, they have to learn and master these songs by ear very quickly.

      Yep. Going from Devo, to Nirvana, his band has been absolutely solid with everything they do.....including this masterpiece!
      I would also draw attention to their polka versions of everything in popular culture.

I don't like him because he's made millions, not with brains and talent, but by being a total jerk to the artists he parodies. I don't respect that. I hate to see this low level humour rewarded with popularity. But it is. He has millions of views on youtube, leaving an exceptional talent like Al, in the dust. I heard Flea said he didn't think this was that good. I'm shocked because this is great. It's really dead on and hysterical. I would think the Chili Peppers would have loved it.

      You would think a bunch of guys that wore socks on their manhood on stage would have pretty decent senses of humor and would get that it is okay to laugh at yourself.....if you don't get the humor....you are clueless and as arrogant as the rest of the a&&holes living in Hollyweird.....get over yourself, Flea...your fucking named after a microscopic worthless insect.....you MUST be able to laugh at yourself....especially such a spot on parody.....you just can't admit Al made a better video than RHCP!!

    The thing I actually love about Al is that, even though he doesn't have to, since parody is protected by law, he asks the artists if it's okay if he does his parody, and if they say no, he doesn't do it. I actually remember watching, I think it was one of those old Behind the Music episodes, obviously focusing on Weird Al, and Flea said he really thought this song....basically sucked.

    Here's why Yankovic is so dangerous. RHCP 'Give it Away', released Sept. 4th, 1991. Yankovic 'Bedrock Anthem', released Nov. 16th, 1993. And it's held up better. Think about that! And soak in the appreciation for everyone. Because one cannot exist without the other. And we love them both.
