For this reason Eddie Murphy will always remain a king to me. I saw Eddie Murphy the other night at the premiere for his new movie, and my mouth dropped and I although I'm a big fan, I wasn't expecting to have that reaction. My mouth literally dropped open and I couldn't close it for about 10 seconds. Eddie Murphy also stood up at the Oscars, the fucking Oscars, it says something similar, talking up for black people and away that we would be proud of Kanye for doing today. Nobody ever talks about that, and not very many people do it, but not only was he walking the walk, but he was talking to talk which is usually not a thing in Hollywood. I read that article that they're referencing and after eight years of The Cosby Show being the greatest TV show on television, you would think that in 1992, we'd be out of this black people can live regular lives, fairytale shit, but we weren't. And I'm not just blowing smoke, but Boomerang is one of my top five movies of all time. It helped the young 12 year old boy from a city in Indiana, stuck between two murder capitals in Gary Indiana and Chicago Illinois, it helped me see that black people could be professional and have a lot of money in professional settings oh, because it was something that I wasn't sitting in my everyday life. Representation matters. Kudos King
I have always thought the same thing. The haircut, and the way his mustache was trimmed. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole look was on purpose. The brother has always been dapper in all of his interviews.
Interesting fact... that black cowboy movie was made, and it's name is DJANGO. The exec producer of Boomerang (the film Eddie is promoting here) is Reginald Hudlin, who was part of those conversations, and gave Quentin the idea years later. That's why if you look on the credits for Django you'll see Reginald Hudlin as a producer...and I think we'll all agree Jamie Foxx played the character Eddie Murphy is describing here...just wish they'd have used the cast he suggested too!
Nothing Philosophical about it . Every word of what he said was true. And is still true to this day. Maybe Your not black so you just don't understand or know what he's talking about.
Growing up I knew Eddie through movies like Dr. Doolittle, Shrek, or Norbit, something like this, so I never paid much attention and recognition to his progressiveness and impact. I never attributed the respect I’ve come to have for him now. It wasn’t until I heard other people who were widely regarded amongst the public and media give respect and adulation to him or references about the significance of his body of work etc. So, after delving into his work, and watching interviews like this one, I’ve come to learn and recognize that this man was and is a big deal. His fearlessness in pushing boundaries and redefining notions that were widely misconceived and misrepresented is commendable to say the least.
Since Eddie is back, and Dolomite is doing amazing, and have big buzz, and Coming to America 2 bout to come out, Boomerang 2 needs to come out, and have the cast of the BET spin-off series with the original cast

The one think that impresses me SO much about Eddie Murphy is that he has a "commitment to excellence" that he always maintains with modesty (not being humble although he is because most people confuse modesty with being humble). He has the right balance of commitment, style, modesty & intelligence while being the best comedian in todays world and arguably the best comedian ever.
