I'm loving the best friend interviewing the best friend! Eddie doesn't get enough praise for how he never really switched up on the black community and tried to help many black actors and actresses that were not really known.
He’s the king of the black movie....his movies transcend race which sounds corny and stupid but its true he’s the one true black actor that can lead an all black cast and the movie will do numbers worldwide
I liked that too. Usually, people made fun of him. The man was an excellent child actor going back to Good Times. Life couldn't have been easy for him with his illness also surrounded by leeches.

It’s because they’re such good friends, that’s one main reason why. Since Arsenio knows Eddie so well and they’ve already worked together by this stage, that contributes alot to Arsenio already being comfortable around him and to ask him some of those challenging questions.
Man!!! Im putting it out there Eddie and Arseno need to have a talk show!! Their chemistry is just so natural and entertaining and you genuinely feel the love and respect they have for each other! Even still today now that they have grown and matured and experienced life they still have that same energy with doing promo for Coming To America!! I love them and I want to see it happen!!!🙌🙌🙌

Eddie definitely surprised me in a good way by his views with voting. Makes you wonder if they tried to sabotage his career with those rumors about him because he was at the top speaking like this..
Then interestingly enough, a few months after this interview he stars in the movie called ‘Distinguished Gentleman’ which is pretty much exposing the inner workings of government officials in a comedic way. It’s funny that now that movie is hard to find anywhere.
I like Eddie's views on politics. We have to be very careful what we give our attention and energy too...and the AGREEMENTS we bind ourselves to in voting. Some feel it gives you the "right to complain" but I think it makes your complaint void.
My mom always loved Arsenio Hall. Growing up when this talk show was on mom watched every night. She’s in her 70’s now and when she sees him on TV she can’t believe he hasn’t changed at all. She still loves him.
Amazing how I can't watch full episodes of this talk show anywhere online or on any streaming service. Especially considering how groundbreaking it was. I mean at one point this show was one of the epicenters of not just black culture but pop culture. Everyone wanted to be on here to the point that you even had celebrities either in the crowd or backstage not even scheduled to appear but just hanging out. The 90s really is the greatest decade!
I like what Eddie Murphy says here because he's telling the truth but he was a man ahead of his time especially when it comes to the whole voting aspect and politics. He's very smart.
crazy how they really talked about racism, voting and the government in the second half of this interview considering how big those conversations were last year in 2020
In my opinion, Arsenio was trying to use the politics section to encourage people (especially Black people) to go out &vote. But I don't think Eddie knew it was coming.
Yeah. Back then the 'Rock The Vote' campaign was in full swing trying to get young people to vote. There was a lot of promotion for it on MTV and shows like Arsenio that appealed to younger audiences. I always liked Eddie's "Smallest feet" analogy though. We really don't have a choice. George Carlin talked about it for years. As have many others. We have the "Illusion of choice."
Yeah it got a bit tense but they handled it well. Arsenio probably had some words for Eddie after this though lol but overall this was a great interview and the dynamic between these two is incredible. A true brotherhood.
