@John Afella I guess you had no brother, right? If you had brothers to play with and doing crazy things then you would have understood Roberto wasn't letting his own {very light} weight harm Don. Besides... things like that were possible 20 years ago... certainly not today with the bigotry arising in this global society in most recent years and definitely not after Weinstein's scandal. The only person he might have harmed was himself when after playing with the audience he was trying to step back onto the stage and Leno held him almost saving his back. In Benigni's behaviour there was just genuine love and respect for the audience and, most importantly, for an _American Comedy Genius_ Don Rickles was and will always be.

If anyone cares: the music Rickles uses is a classic for bullfights in Spain any many other countries.
I would think people in the US have no idea this is called Paso Doble and has a 2/4 compass and an allegro tempo. It is used in military parades and, as I say, in bull fights. A bull fight with no music is not a "real" spectacle.
It was popular in the 1920's and easy to dance. It is usually called "Suspiros de España" (Spanish Sigh) or "Soldadito Español" (Spanish Little Soldier).
Do with this information what you like.

Glad you wrote that. I'm one of the very few in America that grew up with pasodoble having heard them in my house since I was a baby. My father loved everything to do with Spain. Songs like Pasodoble Te Quiero, La Macarena, artists like Juan Legido (great voice, underrated), Manolo Escobar, Rocio Jurado, all of that was commonplace in my home. My father loved Don Rickles' entrance. Episodes of I Love Lucy from the 1950s also featured some Spanish classics. There is a new Spanish singer called Rosalia that is bringing traditional Andaluz Spanish sounds back with her new record, namely her hit Malamente. Glad to see new Spanish youth hearing old world sounds.

Was privileged to see Don Rickles in April of 2011 after he mentioned being at The Borgata on David Letterman's show in the days preceding the shows. We got two seats in The Borgata's Music Box theater waaay up in the corner. Turns out there were no bad seats in that theater. Don exhibited the energy of someone a quarter of his age for the length of his show.

Roberto reacted turning towards him laughing, when Don said that {making Leno completely lose schedule... but he was great when Roberto jumped onto his shoulders and carried him along the stage holding him by the shins}... Roberto does speak English, he might be slow and sound quite "Italianish" with pronunciation but you can be sure he quickly understands it. I speak a very fluent English and I perfectly know what happens when other Italians speak English... if they know it and they have no chance of speaking it often they struggle a bit with fear of making mistake and sound ridiculous... and that's usually where they end up... they lose it! Benigni is beyond that... he embraces, literally, life and releases it augmented with utterly lack of shame... he's just 100% genuine!
