I saw Don perform at a dinner theater with 2 friends back in the 1970s. I was 17 years-old at the time. My friends and I are Italian, and the club had a dress code, so we were dressed in suits. Don noticed our table and introduced us to the crowd as the 'junior Mafia'! So we had the honor of being insulted by the great Don Rickles! A memory of a lifetime.

Whom ever came up with this series is a genuine genius. This episode with Billy is my favorite so far. I got to see Don at The Sands in Las Vegas, with my parents (!), in 1979☆. Guys like him should be able to live forever just to keep us on out toes. ♡♡♡♡♡
When Billy said "we should do this again" and Don responded "You're not strong enough", I think that was recognition that he himself wasn't going to be doing this much longer, which is why he was doing these vignettes. That was a bittersweet response.
Saw Don Rickles in Vegas. He did a solid hour and a half of hilarious jokes with out ANY inappropriate language and was funny as hell. AND, he punctuated his humor with music....who know Don Rickles could sing, and beautifully! God Bless you Don. RIP
I didn't know Don could sing. That's cool that you got to see him. I missed my chance. I know he did some wonderful impressions of actors like Gable, Lancaster and Quinn, as evidenced here. I remember them being better when he was younger, of course. And Crystal's Ali/Cosell still breaks me up! R.I.P. Mr. Warmth.
You could feel the heartfelt goodbye from Billy as they were ending, Don as well. Like he knew that was probably going to be the last time he gets to talk with him.
My Dad is a year older then Don, WWII Vet etc........Don looks just like my Dad towards the end.....they both got super skinny and frail looking.....at the time I was in denial, but I knew deep down things were winding down...My Dad passed in 2017 too....I love you Dad....
I'll say this again....... with all the humorous abuse he throws out there when he stops and pays you a compliment and wishes the guest well .... it comes from such a genuine place its such a about turn I get choked up EVERY time. What an AMAZING man !!!!
He was a master at almost instantly diffusing tense situations before they could even start to escalate. In his interview with Zach Galfianakis, he mentioned that he always knew when he went too far with a joke or a roast. That takes a lot of skill to hone in on people's emotions like that so quickly. I've seen so many comedians who try to take on a heckler in the audience completely buckle under the pressure. Another problem you have to figure out is how to not dig a hole and jump into it when you are engaging another person. You'd never see Rickles in those situations because he could see them coming a mile a way and offer a quick apology and maybe a handshake before that person even had a chance to yell at him.

For an insult comic who was known for edgy and controversial jokes, it speaks volumes that not one of his peers has ever spoke badly about Rickles. Everyone says what a genuinely warm and nice person he was. That’s a testament to the type of human being Don Rickles was. Truly one of a kind. There will never be another like him.
Ah but there have been many tales about the consequences of his act. I witness one personally. A kind and sensitive person could not and would not make a career of humiliating people for laughs. Long before considering making a career of it, a person like that would have recognized the problem early in life and adjusted their behavior.
The only time I saw someone angry with Rickles in real life was Johnny Carson. Don had subbed for Carson and had broken something, a box for cigarettes I believe, Carson went and interrupted the filming of Don's TV series CPO Sharkey to yell at him

Loved Rickles. in 1976 I was stationed at Mather A.F.B. in Sacramento . My mom and her boyfriend would fly into Las Vegas a few times a year and I would always meet them there. Her Boyfriend " Rocky " the generous man that he was , would always ask me what shows I wanted to see while we were all together. We saw Rickles at Caesars Palace . The Mills Brothers opened up for him back then . They are ALL gone now but I have my cherished memories ... Thanks for posting
8pm. As a boy of 12, I was already a Jerry Lewis fan, which led to Dean, Frank, the Pack, and of course, Don. Seeing him on the Dick Van Dyke Show was great! He tried his own TV show so many times, with so many pilots; none of which lasted more than 1 or 2 seasons. But FUNNY? He was great….Mr. Warmth, rest in peace. You gave us laughter, and joy.

I had and still do love Rickles and Crystal. Watched Rickles as a kid in the 70's and what an amazingly quick and intelligent mind.

What results of today are directly tied to him that he specifically was the cause of? I’ve never heard anyone say, “It’s Don Rickles’ fault.”
When I was a page at ABC TV I helped Don and his wife to their car. I worked other shows he was on and he was the Nicest man around

Loved Rickles. in 1976 I was stationed at Mather A.F.B. in Sacramento . My mom and her boyfriend would fly into Las Vegas a few times a year and I would always meet them there. Her Boyfriend " Rocky " the generous man that he was , would always ask me what shows I wanted to see while we were all together. We saw Rickles at Caesars Palace . The Mills Brothers opened up for him back then . They are ALL gone now but I have my cherished memories ... Thanks for posting

8pm. As a boy of 12, I was already a Jerry Lewis fan, which led to Dean, Frank, the Pack, and of course, Don. Seeing him on the Dick Van Dyke Show was great! He tried his own TV show so many times, with so many pilots; none of which lasted more than 1 or 2 seasons. But FUNNY? He was great….Mr. Warmth, rest in peace. You gave us laughter, and joy.
One of my big regrets in life was not meeting Mr. Rickles or seeing him perform live.
