its amazing that his physical ship had sailed and he knew it, but his wit, his cutting humor was just so spot on. It's just real sad to see someone knowing that the end is near and doing all of these get-togethers as a swan-song of sorts. But I agree with you, just breaks the heart.
Snoop's posture towards Don was that of a student, learning and responding to the teachings of wisdom. Snoop was turned away from the table completely and directly at Don and almost as if he were sitting on the floor in front of Don as he spoke. This was such an awe inspiring moment to witness!
Rickles called Snoop the black Sinatra. That is a royal compliment. You know how many celebrities have tried to emulate Frank through the years? Clooney, P Diddy. Mconaughey. Rickles just settled it. Sorry, guys, but Snoop always did it his way.
Rickles didn't call Snoop the black Frank Sinatra. He said Snoop had referred to himself as the Frank Sinatra of the black world. Also I heard Frank Sinatra didn't like singing My Way because he thought it was arrogant saying he had no regrets.
what the That explanation of why Frank didn’t like My Way doesn’t make sense. If he felt that way about the song then why would he have recorded it in the first place? I read somewhere that he intended it to be his ‘swan song’ when he retired, a sort of summary of how he had lived his life. But then when he made his comeback, people had come to regard it as his anthem and wanted him to sing it at every show. In the end he got really sick of performing it but had become so associated with it that he couldn’t get away with leaving it out of his repertoire. To me, that seems to be a more rational explanation of his feelings about the song.
You won't see those changes when you are actually living them. The years we are living at the moment are not that much different than those in the last century
@@part4963 yeah that's why checking some of my old family photos is mind blowing to me. It's like a whole other world I lived in and never noticed it changing till I looked back.

I've watched every one of the dinners with Don, this one is probably my favorite. I love the level of respect that Don, rest in peace, and Snoop have with each other, this is special

I love that Snoop was basically dressed like The Green Arrow! And this conversation was so cool! Thank you AARP for Publishing these for us. These had to be some of the last shows Don Rickles made before his strength started to catch up with his age, I cherish every word that comes from him and these clips are just precious. A legend. RIP Don!
I've watched a few of these Don Rickles interviews just before we lost him, and I mist say this is perhaps the best of them all. Snoop is a great conversationalist and keeps up with Rickles wit without patronizing him or treating him as "less than" just because he is so advanced in age.
These two have an odd connection (other than just incredible talent), I can hear both of them forever. Don because he's so damn funny, and Snoop, because his rap is SMOOTH...it just rolls without any pain to your ears. Great post.

This video is absolutely beautiful. It is so beautiful to see two people from different areas of fame just talk as equals and be so humble with one another.
Don made racist jokes for the same reason he made all his other jokes, they were funny. If you watch the Merv Griffin interview with Rickles and Mr. T, Merv didn't really get the Rickles sense of humor and was actually disrespecting Mr. T, and after some gentler hints Don finally had to point out to Merv that he was friends with Mr. T and "_you're_ the outsider."
I commend you Snoop, I love your versatility! Brother you have gone a long way and have paved a path for a lot of other entertainers! I love you work and have enjoyed your music since your start with Dr. Dre!
