They lied to you about that repeatedly.... It literally means they're on their way out and past their best, don't be conned by them in future.

Since I was a little kid, I've said if I could have one wish, it'd be the ability to understand, speak, read, and write any language I come across fluently. I could use it to make a good living as a translator, talk to anyone, learn and teach, decode dead languages, travel the world, and reveal ancient history we've lost to time. That would be heavenly for me despite my being an anti-social, anxiety suffering goof. I love languages, but my memory is poor and I get frustrated easily due to mental health issues. I keep trying to dive back into Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin, and ASL but my mental clarity and will to be patient seems to have bottomed out.
Exact same deal with me, everything you said, except for ASL since I havent started learning it, yet, but I want to. And I'd add Russian (I taught myself to read Russian and wanna learn more).
