I went to sit down at the restaurant in Canada, waitress comes over and speaks to me in English, then I say ‘cam on,’ which means thank you in Vietnamese. She was so shocked and the look on her face had me dying. 😂 Then I speak a little bit more to my friend’s step mom who is Vietnamese and then I swear the waitress was gossiping about me in the sense I was a ‘white guy speaking Vietnamese.’ lol. I absolutely adore your videos, Xiaoma. I am learning multiple languages at the moment - Spanish, Japanese and Swedish. I hope to take on more in the future. I have memorised a few words in Japanese and I am still very new to Swedish.
i've been learning spanish since the age of seven. my primary school introduced me and the class to the language and then my high school gave me the choice between french, german and spanish, having already learnt some, high school me chose spanish. i'm definitely not an expert and i'm still learning, but i'm getting better. i'm now at the point where i'm able to decipher sentences - it's making me very happy, haha. something that my high school spanish classes lacked though - was conversation. so i'm still struggling to actually talk in spanish. i'm very afraid of messing up and embarrassing myself or accidentally saying the wrong thing. you're very inspiring. I hope to be like you, one day. I love talking to people.

Wow. I really respect how in your vids. The people answer first and quickly and then ask afterwards how you speak so well. It's really cool how language walks thru doors so powerfully it really breaks barriers

Idk what it is but you speaking their language and dialects (languages) really puts a smile on my face. I totally forgot the time and the things I had to do. Something about how excited the people get when somebody shows some interest into their culture.
Keep it up as always :)

Xiaoman, the best thing about you--to me--is how you open people. Language is a master key (as music is, by the way). You are impressive. You are impressionable.
Thanks for all you do. Continue to help these hidden food communities. That's my favorite part: Your helping restaurants and street vendors along your journey.
Gracias, hermano, en paz y gusto. Dios te bendiga mucho.
