Again Scott, thank you for opening the world to us. These are the insights we never get to see from any other RUclips channel, even from the “best photographers”. You don’t know how much your videos have helped me throughout these past few weeks. I was able to get three gigs back to back, one of them involving BMW! Still, food photography is where my heart is at and this is simply beyond priceless.

This is a great video! I love that you also use the TSE lenses in your kit - I hardly see anyone mention them. I have the 24, 50 and 90 - they're so invaluable; esp. for food!

love this content, great to see the setup, the thinking behind it, techniques and the food styling tips are priceless (steaming, cotton wool to hold chips lol damn) in the summary it would be great to see the final hi res shots you got from each setup, not sure if you don't do it to encourage viewers to head to insta but would be nice to see the end to end of the project

Hey Scott, good video. When it's just a test shoot, where do you draw your inspiration from for each picture? Also, since you have a dedicated stylist, can you do an interview style video with her and get a point of view from the stylist on a shoot? Like her expectations of the photographer, and what she's expecting out of us?

I loved they video, not many photographers shows you how much effort is put into a single shoot, and it's critical to understand that, specially for people who think that with one or two shots they're donne for the day.
I don't mind the length of the video, as long as you show how it is, exceptional video, I could watch the full day of shooting if you streamed it haha.

Very interesting content. For the final burger shot, I would like to know how each light worked and looked before it came together in the final piece. I like how you described and showed how the gridded light affects the image but would've also wanted to see 1 by 1 one how each light, lights the image.
Great video. That timelapse at 12:40 with the sky is sweet.
So kind of you going to this much effort to show us a shoot, it was a bit of an eyeopener to see how much work is involved funny I thought the last burger shot was amazing that harsh light to develop the glistening speculars on the meat was inspired I hope you didnt need to throw all of it away the burger especially looked scrummy all in all a fantastic video showing us a window on your professional life many thanks
Thanks for taking the time, very interesting Video. I missed it to see a more wide angle showing the total setup of lights in relation to the food. Try a zoom lens to be more flexible next time. Also I would have liked the stylist talk about the burger styling, a bit of food styling practises.

wonderful work, thanks for sharing; however I am not so great in English, May I ask how was the lighting for the shot at 12:26? I am not sure if you only used the softbox, or the head with the deep reflector, or both together? sorry if that sounds dumb

Did u need to focus stack the last shot?
How do you make it look so clean in post. Specialy the pop art fries shot. All the wrinkles in the paper are gone in the final shot and it looks so seamless.

Scott, how do you go about avoiding color cast on the food when using colored backdrops like these? I'm just getting into studio food photography, and this has been a real struggle!

Totally newbie question here and maybe its a stupid one but I'm watching this and thinming... if the backgrounds are paper.... how do we avoid grease from the food from ruining the paper... or?? is that typically an issue?

Noob question re flatlays: how does one align a camera so that its lens points precisely perpendicular to the subject plane? (Copy-stand fashion, but without a copy-stand :-D.)
My efforts too often result in some sort of skew.

@@TinHouseStudioUK when you talk is ok. In between is too loud. Also, you can work on passing from music to speech, sometimes the volume gets to slow down...

Another Video topic I would like to see is: how does it FEEL to be you? You are a top notch commercial photographer, but you often mention to be sleep deprived or having phases of high stress. Doesnt your experience make you calmer? Is your work satisfying for you, or do you still think of all the things that could have looked more perfect? Etc

Great vid. Scott but the muzac is too dominant and thus annoying. Volume down by 50% would work better. Much appreciated!
I'm listening with noise cancelling headphones and the music levels are fine. The only time I personally don't like music in a video is when the levels are all over the place and I have to keep raising and lowering the volume. Not the case here.
Hi Scott. The sound levels are too high during the food prep sections and drop dramatically when you voice cuts back in - otherwise you'd be drowned out. Just a little too intrusive. Your style is such that you don't need music. Thanks for taking the time to respond. David

I love your work but I gotta say video ain't your forté huh xD The parts where you were hand holding the camera were incredible difficult to watch, for me anyway, because of how close up the shots were. Perhaps you didn't have a wide zoom to hand but it definately had an affect on my watch time - great video though love your stuff man you didn't lose a sub today that's for sure xox

I love your video and l thank you for sharing. However, the 'music' in the background was so distracting that l couldn't watch the video to the end. It was at a level that made you struggle to hear it, giving it the main focus of your attention. It was also very uncomfortable to listen to in terms of tone, l found it very jarring and unpleasant. I hope you don't mind me providing this feedback, nothing personal at all.

Not for nothing, but you don't know what your shooting the day before the shot. I watched about a minute of the clip before I stopped it. Personally, I didn't believe you after hearing this and stopped watching.
Pretty common (for me at least) On Sunday I didn't know whatrwe were shooting even when the stylist was turning up. Obviously not for work, but when testing we just go in with a vague plan and see what happens.
