Loved this - and the resultant shots. What I would really like to see is a video taking you through the shot of the corn cobs. That, for me, is a truly epic shot.
Truly remarkable. You managed to take on all the elements of a HUGE multi-process, multi-image shoot and edit it down into one of the best food photog process videos I've seen. Kudos Scott! Btw, ever since you suggested the 4x5 format in my portfolio review - I now crop ALL my images to 4x5. You're so right, it just looks more um, "premium". ;)
Love the explanation around your thought process with lighting. I have never really seen good explanations around how to use artificial light in a way to mimic the sun/natural light. When my husband came to your class, this is what he talked about the most. How good you were with using artificial light to mimic times of day etc and your ability to explain that. Very inspiring and motivating. Also love seeing Moggy.

It would be amazing if you could do a longer edit and trying to vocalise why you do some of the changes, like you did with the photoshopping of the basil leaves, but in CaptureOne (I'm putting more blacks because of this)

I am sorry for the question but I am trying to learn, why the highlights are so hard? Is that a personal option/taste or that is caused by the type of light you are using? Shouldn't the highlights be a bit softer?
Titano Cruz they can be as hard or soft as you like, as long as their is a white point somewhere. It’s a sided by the modifier, light and camera settings, so all adjustable and personal choice.

Question, why do you do your cloning/healing before the grading? Doesn't the file's info get lost in a Tiff (like it would in a jpeg) rather than grading the RAW file first?
Hey, Usually for ease of re edits with clients who would likely need a lot of changes. You do lose some info in the TIFF conversion. But I personally can't see it in the print and can only see the loss in some situations on a screen.
@@TinHouseStudioUK interesting and yeah I guess I've always encountered multiple edits on top of my turnover on the client's side so I minimize grading and retouching on my end. Cheers. Keep up the great work with videos that keep it real in terms of actual and real world photography work

Hey. Not sure onthe answer to the native ISO, but to my eye 100 looks slightly better than 160 on the 5ds series. Might be wrong though and it is very close.

I noticed you use mac , I've been transferring copy of the folder using airdrop actually it very fast , it work as long both computers on the same wifi

IE is part of the workflow, demonstrating that this photo has the elements a company would look for. (Graphic design, photographer, and food stylist "quality")
@@alanmckinstry3246 It depends who I am working with. If they are new to working with me then I would, but I have shot with Elle enough that we both kinda know what we are doing.
I do love your videos, but this is not a commercial shoot, it's editorial. You're not working with a brand and all that it entails (a concept that's not your own, style guide, agency peeps, client reps, etc.).
hootubs I think the best way to describe it is probably a commercially viable portfolio as it doesn’t fit into the criteria of editorial as their is no story, words or publication. Although in a very meta way it could be a RUclips editorial shoot haha

the standard camera files use look too long and skinny to me. I prefer the beefy 4x5 or even 5x7 at. push :)Glad you found it to be of use.

I always shoot them, but only use them if I am struggling in post or if I need 100% accurate colours.

Matrix photo design yeah we used this to great effect until two Mac OS updates ago, then it started to be really hit and miss

I feel like your title would be better if it highlighted that this is what could/should go into a portfolio piece.
