not being a storyteller myself you can tell when someone is good at it and joseph defo is and he makes that clear and his methods probably do work and i needed this talk.
I am so incredibly proud of you and so lucky that I get to be your daughter. You have taught me so much more than how to tell kickass stories, you showed me how to reach people with your words. I owe you every A+ in English class (because guys his methods work trust me, I have an A+ in AP lit right now and I got a 5 on AP Lang last year), but I also probably you owe every friendship I cherish. AND BECAUSE I CAN NEVER LIVE THIS BLAH BLAH BLAH THING DOWN, I can, at this time, certify that this talk is blah blah blah FREE. You heard it here folks. So thank you for being an amazing writer, human, and father, but most importantly, thank you for listening to me and not saying Macbeth in a theater. Love you king. (Also I used all your methods of story in this comment are you proud you should be)
I'm very ecstatic to know that physicists appreciate art and storytelling so much. I know there exist ones like Brian May, but I always thought they were the exceptions, not the rule. Thank you Wizard Bard man
Joe, I was honered to sit in the crowd as you delivered this fantastic talk in Tralee, and it was worth the wait for it to go online. Thank you for your lovely storytelling.
Joe it was such a pleasure to have you in Tralee and be part of our wonderful community. A powerful story told is a storytelling well all about storytelling!!!
Thank you for this. My RUclips channel is blowing up a bit and I'm still not sure what's happening. But, some have said it's the way I tell the story, or the way it comes across. I've even been called a Dr. this evening.. So someone thinks I'm doing well then. I've been using But for years and So. However, my English teacher daughter says I should use however a lot more with less buts.. 🙈 I can't seem to win. But, the subscriber count is saying I'm doing well. Now, after listening to this, I think I need to just keep going. One day that first 'hit' will happen. Thank you. This will make a difference. A lot less worrying about buts, 'ands' and so's. Thank you Jamie
i know this is a bit off-topic, but i couldn’t keep this to myself. i kept seeing people rave about Vibrations of Manifestation by alex lane in the comments of so many videos, and even some of my friends mentioned it. i decided to give it a shot, and it’s been a game-changer. i’m finally seeing things fall into place-career, relationships, even my confidence. if you’ve been stuck, this book might be exactly what you need
not related to the video at all, but i had to tell y’all about this. i kept seeing Vibrations of Manifestation by alex lane mentioned everywhere-in youtube comments, even random convos with friends. i caved and read it, and wow. within two weeks, i started seeing my dream life come together. it’s not about wishful thinking-it actually teaches you how to align your energy to make it happen.
Inspiring, and clearly a lover of stories, but... he missed two of the most essential aspects I learned from African storytellers. 1. Being in touch with your body. Many intellectuals are walking brains said Sir Ken Robinson. Notice his breathing? He's also too frozen in his spot. He's clearly not relaxed enough. That too is part of storytelling on stage. 2. Being in touch with the audience. When he tells the joke there's no laughter, he's not enjoying himself enough with the audience, to make it feel like he tells a joke. He refers to Taylor, but has nothing of Taylors stage presence, as if that didn't matter. BUT it does. It makes the performance. If you're not enjoying yourself out there, why should we? There's a third one I'll only tell when asked for it. ;)
I think it's more relevant to talk about the Samizdat and how ideology destroys storytelling and turns it into propaganda. That's where we are right now but that's changing..
TRUMP 2.0 ? (Be a BUDDY, not a BULLY?) I hope the Democrats wake up to the need for STORIES, to find US a happy ending ???????????????????????????????????? TNX ???????????????????????????
WTH? Is this dude on some kind of medication? Seriously. Get well soon. Borrow cup of braincells and come back with something more convincing that a click bait.
@denverflatpackjedithornton "Time magazine called him "The Web's most influential climate-change blogger" and named him "Hero of the Environment″ for his work at the Climate Progress blog he founded in 2006." The end. Dedicated ideological nuttjob. Watermelon. What is there to debate with an ideologue? Its not like they have a reality check. They are ideologues. I hope you are not one of those yuorself. Either way, if you want notes. I don't have much interest in debunking watermelons like this one, so you can go watch something like " Climate Realism by Paul Burgess" for point by point counterpoints. Also the original title was comparison of Taylor Swift with Shakespeare? That is a disqualifying premise right there. A click bait for people who would lose a battle of wits with a stuffed iguana. Which apperntly is the target audience of TED talks in last half a decade. Commies, ideologues, and generally standards went down the toilet. From ideas worth sharing to ideologies not one should share. Last time I was here some nuttjob was claiming streams and rivers should have human rights? lol Need I say more. That's TED for you. Intellectual leper colony.
shakespeare stories and poems are so beautiful.

You dad sounds amazing. 🎉
Never thought I would watch a ted talk discussing Taylor lyrics. Yet it was amazing
It's easy to write about your 200 breakups.
Everything there is to know about storytelling can be found in Taylor's lyrics.
On A Clear Day , ...
In short , thanks for sharing so well during this "crunchy" time . Thy talk , as present here now , is genuinely an inspiration .
I'm very ecstatic to know that physicists appreciate art and storytelling so much. I know there exist ones like Brian May, but I always thought they were the exceptions, not the rule.

Cool way to look at storytelling.

he must be a genius having been at mit
Fab talk
A physicist breaking down a Taylor Swift song with a Shakespearean context at a high-school level, sometimes the jokes write themselves.
Wiiiiiildest dream, ah ah ah.
nice
amazing
I'm glad you liked it.

They are both Game of Thrones dragons 🐉 😂
And he didn't mention "Love Story" once, the song with explicit mentions of Romeo and Juliet 😅
Too deep for me
But🫶

I'm on 41 seconds in so I'm interested in what you didn't like about it let's compare notes afterwards.
