@@CastleChris92 but once you award S tiers to lesser bands its like giving a perfect 10 figure skating or dunk contest score. So what happens when something better comes you have nowhere to go. Sum 41 was like their bigger Canadian brother and they existed in the same time with them, Greenday, Blink 182 and Good Charlotte so Finns A tier seems pretty reasonable. Lagwagon and Millencolin got me into that scene but both are C Tier-ish bands. Personal significance doesn't hold much water in the grandiose sceme of things.

NFG is to me one of the the most influential of the genre, up there with Blink and Green Day as truly molding the sounds going forward. I would say that easycore is the template for a lot of pop punk over the last 15 years for sure, and NFG definitely started that trend.

I’m not the biggest NFG fan I mean I am a fan but I like need to listen to them like I do my favorite bands if that makes sense but what’s weird for me is I consider them to have the best musical style I love the super pop punk vocals, with the Heavier guitar tones, some metal influenced guitar riffs that’s 100% what I love that’s the kinda music I liked to create don’t get me wrong I love screaming and break downs but in my own band I just want a great singer and guitars that sound too heavy.

While I've never considered their songwriting on par with some others from that era, they belong to a very small minority of punk bands to release that much material without putting out a truely weak album.. They played 18 songs in an hour and 15 minutes, which included a 7-10 minute break in the middle where Chad Gilbert told the audience about his battle with a rare cancer (Pheochromacytoma) in 2021. You finally said something that disappointed me. How are you going to put Simple Plan above Lagwagon? And alk 3? SMH. Was about to unsubscribe then I realized it's your channel and I can always make my own tier list.... anyways. It's cool that you don't like mopey music but not necessary to give 15 to 25 year old me that lecture you give when you feel you have to. I digress. But seriously Lagwagon does not belong under simple plan. Thanks dude. Love your videos. (Usually)

I mean it’s not like half of the FDA’s funding is from pharma companies and they’re completely bought out and corrupt and also said that OxyContin and other opioids weren’t dangerous or addictive and should be prescribed to anyone at anytime, they definitely can be trusted and never lie about anything

    Hey Finn,
I can’t speak to every reason why pop punk artists wore wristbands, buts here’s why I did in the later years of playing with Home Grown. I sweat..a lot..when playing live. The wristband would help keep the sweat off the strings and pickups, as well a quick swipe on the forehead ‘cuz the salt would sting your eyes and be incredibly frustrating when you played in poorly ACed venues or down south on Warped Tour.
And speaking of Warped Tour, I remember all the bands sharing T-shirts with one another because..well we ran out of clean shirts..but then eventually all those free shirts you got from your friends started to stink..bad. Solution, cut out the sides of the shirt (kept the BO off the armpit, and let the hot southern breeze blow on through).
My experience anyhow. Love your work.

I always saw Alkaline Trio fans as the type who liked Blink's sound, but hated Blink because they where so popular. Which that attitude is typically a red flag. However, I know a lot of pretty normal people who really enjoy their music, myself included, its the ones who put them way up on a pedestal who are a bit off. I really do appreciate the dark sense of humor they write into songs.

Used to be a much cringier person, but now, I just think of alkaline trio as blink 182 going through a crazy Edgar Allen Poe phase.... at least up through agony and irony. Still very much a fan, Dan will always be one of my favorite rock bassists

Alkaline Trio are like the Exodus of Pop Punk. The fan base is smaller but more tightknit and punishing. I do enjoy them as well as Blink. I quite like the darker vibe they have going on. Matt Skiba is like a better version of Mark Hoppus.
Overall, Pop Punk in general gets alot of hate and love. Even some haters secretly like Pop Punk.

I'm pretty new to Finn's channel and I'm loving it but I don't think I can allow him saying Goldfinger doesn't deserve the same tier as GOOD CHARLOTTE (who just like Finn said about MXPX and Sum41, were a group that the fans were looked at as posers for listening to), but I'm glad he mentioned Strung Out cuz they are a great band thanks to their harder edge sound. However, Finn when you do Part 3 you forgot some very significant bands so I've mapped it out for you, LOL-
    Good Riddance
    Frenzal Rhomb
    The Ataris
    The Bouncing Souls
    Unwritten Law
    Sugarcult
    Fall Out Boy
    No Use for a Name
Me First & the Gimme Gimmes
    AFI
    Yellowcard
    All American Rejects
    Saves the Day (kinda)
    Suicide Machines
and then for legendary pop/skate punk you left out Bad Religion and The Offspring

I know I'll get hate and I'm being a punisher here, but the guitar work in Rufio is fuckin rad. Clark and Scott kill it. Jon Berry is a bad ass bassist. Had a huge impact on me personally.

Fuck, after Knuckle Puck being on the D tier, I'm afraid of where the Wonder Years ends up at. The lyrics and singing, and the fact that they are iconic (even Halsey lists them as an influence in an interview on Apple Music ahead of her album Manic) means they should be at least A tier. You want to call them SadBoi, but they transcend that... I'd love to see Hot Mulligan on the list.

I remember being a moderate fan for the first two records (Another Day In Paradise and Suburban Teenage Wasteland Blues), and then being floored by Twisted By Design when it came out. And then that EP after that, Element of Sonic Defiance… that was a game changer for me. Those two records just felt so ahead of what other “similar” bands were doing at the time. The next few records were excellent as well, but those are the two that have stuck with me through the years

I loved Lagwagon in the early 2000s. I got to see them with Rufio and Yellowcard opening. They were definitely an 'older folks' pop-punk band. They wrote a lot of songs about becoming adults that were pretty poignant but sort of lost on younger kids. No Use For a Name was another great example of this.
