Radiohead is a gateway band that gets people into a bunch of actual experimental music. Then they go down the rabbit hole, get burnt out on it all and end back up at Radiohead. Its like how people start at Pantera get into extreme metal and then end up back at Pantera again
Bro I don’t think candlebox deserves the amount of hate they get. Their first two albums aside from their hits weren’t good that’s true but their 3rd album is pretty damn good. Ngl I think the “riding the coattails” hate train on candlebox is an npc take but I understand ppl who just don’t like their style of music
If you listen to Third Eye Blind now i think that they are very underrated. I love self titled and Blue. after that they get boring but those are very good underatted albums especially self titled.
I was expecting Foo Fighters since they put out a trilogy of albums in the mid-late 90s… but they have a such timeless quality they can’t be confined to this ranking - plus they have at least one “very good to great” record for each decade of the new millennium they’ve been active in: In Your Honor (2000s) Wasting Light (2010s) But Here We Are (2020s)
Again, no love for 311. Transistor, and Grassroots are some of the best albums to come out of the 90's. Plus they're still together all OG members, and that 311 logo is A Tier!
When Finn put out his SOAD video , it made me realize how rare it is to see bands stick together & stay aligned for extended periods of time. Then the very first thought in my mind was, look at 311, bucking that trend. Really hope he makes a 311 retrospective video in 2024…great band.
Dude third eye blind has so many hits, maybe not a ton but way more than 1.5. …looked it up they have at least 4 very iconic songs and the first album is great
Since you like Weezer and Blink so much, you should check out Joyce Manor (if you haven’t) already. Some of the best current power-pop songwriting there is like Big Lie, Heart Tattoo or Fake ID. Their catalog is amazing.
My two favs to sing along to are "Slide," and "Can't Stop," but they really have got far too many hits worth listenin' to to list here, but definitely are still cranking some amazin' live shows out currently, and're always givin' it THEIR ALL, and then some, when performin', that's for sure!
Everclears second album I think? Sparkle and fade was awesome. My dad got it for me on accident and the first time I heard “heroine girl” I was blown away.
I listen to green jelly as a comedy album. Idk if it was ever supposed to be serious but the album with little pigs is a concept album about the cow gods taking over the world or something like that. It’s good to kill time on road trips
I’ll be embarrassed to have you in my barbecue if you start to talk about Radiohead… paranoid android might be the bohemian rhapsody of the 90s, just like Jesus of Suburbia might be the 00s B.R.
Not to call myself out here - I'm a Subaru Dad and I mostly listen to Phish and the Dead. Head to the lot before a Phish show and it's the largest conglomeration of Subaru Dads at any given place in the world.
Jane’s Addiction! Heck yeah!Loved Three Days and the second half of Ritual de lo Habitual so much. So bummed when they broke up. They almost died many times then.
Weezer gets a lot of unnecessary dumping on. I think they’re just too smart and 50 years from now, people are going to talk about how great they were. I like them but don’t love them personally, I just respect their career.
When the media was trying desperately to hype up all that Blur vs Oasis bullshit all of us cool kids knew 2 things that were the truth: 1. It was fine to like BOTH. 2. The real best British band at the time were The Manic Street Preachers.
I’m never around when live, but some suggestions for next iteration: That Dog, Sublime, Savage Garden, The Tragically Hip, The Black Crowes. I hate Black Crowes but they had success. I think Savage Garden is forgotten cause they were a pop duo with department store hits but those were well written tunes. The Tragically Hip are a fantastic group held back by borders and airplay but their peak was late 80s - early-90s and aesthetically fit into the 90s alt scene as opposed to late-era classic rock.
I can relate to the old-thing so much 😆 The downward spiral is the new NIN, Psalm 69 is the new Ministry and Angel Dust is the new FNM, will always be!
Creep is the only great Radiohead I’ve heard. I like the oddity of ok computer, but actively don’t enjoy the rest of their discography. Perhaps it has more to do with the fact all their fans, and they themselves seem to be pretentious assholes.
As one of the rare creatures who loves Korn and Radiohead. That Radiohead take is unforgettable Finn 😂. Both of these bands are pinnacles of originality and creativity. Fight me! I got hands playboy
You are right... except about Radiohead. You kept talking about Kid A... that wasn't 90s. The first three albums are great, they are S tier, I'm not a Olive Garden music listener. Oasis is a much worse band (that I liked at the time). If you compare The Bends to What's the Story Morning Glory, or OK Computer to Be Here Now and honestly claim Oasis is better, you are very strange. You are also wrong about Beasties, both them and Radiohead(in the 90s are S tier. We're not talking about after. I'm also bored by newer Radiohead. Oasis is actually the total example of B tier, I do like them, even though I was just dissing on them in relation to Radioheard. Also, Everclear, Breeders and 3B all have a whole album basically on the level of their hits... not surprisingly the album that the hits come from... Everclear actually have two albums that fit that. So I'd put them all at B tier, because the 1 or 2 big hits are surrounded by a similarly good album. Eh, also I'd put 90s Faith No More at A tier. But other than that you are right, about the few remaining things you said.

What about one hot minute? I assume you hate the polished pop sound of Californication. One hot minute is one of my favorite examples of commercial suicide. It's blunt in its lyrics and raw with it's guitars.
The only RHCP I didn’t grow out of. Music like Jane’s Addiction if Flea wrote the songs instead of Eric, Anthony replacing sex pest lyrics with twelve-step spirituality. And the B-sides are so fascinating - to me if the unsuccessful attempts aren’t dogshit then you aren’t pushing enough creatively.

Their first two albums aside from their hits weren’t good that’s true but their 3rd album is pretty damn good. Ngl I think the “riding the coattails” hate train on candlebox is an npc take but I understand ppl who just don’t like their style of music
The music video for Buddy Holly was packaged with Windows 95 as a way to show off the new Windows Media Player.
Do you feel old yet?
If you listen to Third Eye Blind now i think that they are very underrated. I love self titled and Blue. after that they get boring but those are very good underatted albums especially self titled.
I was expecting Foo Fighters since they put out a trilogy of albums in the mid-late 90s… but they have a such timeless quality they can’t be confined to this ranking - plus they have at least one “very good to great” record for each decade of the new millennium they’ve been active in: In Your Honor (2000s) Wasting Light (2010s) But Here We Are (2020s)
I remember seeing No Doubt as the opening act for 311 right around the time Tragic Kingdom was starting to take off.
Which is funny because Finn loves 311
I meant to say the 311 logo is S Tier! Lol
I saw RHCP twice this past year and out of every show across all genre's that I have attended, RHCP is the greatest band I have ever seen live.
My two favs to sing along to are "Slide," and "Can't Stop," but they really have got far too many hits worth listenin' to to list here, but definitely are still cranking some amazin' live shows out currently, and're always givin' it THEIR ALL, and then some, when performin', that's for sure!
I’d love a part 2! And I actually agree with most of these. I love No Doubt, and Everclear has some really good songs
Everclears second album I think? Sparkle and fade was awesome. My dad got it for me on accident and the first time I heard “heroine girl” I was blown away.
@@spfadden082711sparkle and fade forever my favourite everclear album
I listen to green jelly as a comedy album. Idk if it was ever supposed to be serious but the album with little pigs is a concept album about the cow gods taking over the world or something like that. It’s good to kill time on road trips
Candlebox were the kids in the crowd at the og grunge shows who were directly inspired. They get too much hate
they were actually a band since 1990, well before grunge blew up.
@@rickyiglesias5384 the local grunge scene was a thing in the 80s before it blew up in the 90s.
right, but they can't be accused of jumping on the bandwagon of popularity, since it didn't become popular until late 91/early 92.@@SleepingDragon3
as soon as you put oasis on S tier i knew you had good taste.
"Let's find a cure" final soundbite 🤞
I’ll be embarrassed to have you in my barbecue if you start to talk about Radiohead… paranoid android might be the bohemian rhapsody of the 90s, just like Jesus of Suburbia might be the 00s B.R.
Radiohead and Björk same middle of the road "experimental" shit for mainstream ppl
My uncle got my brother the great milenko ICP album for Xmas 97 when he was 11. My mom wasn't too happy.
What is a Juggalo?
Not to call myself out here - I'm a Subaru Dad and I mostly listen to Phish and the Dead. Head to the lot before a Phish show and it's the largest conglomeration of Subaru Dads at any given place in the world.
THIRD EYE BLIND IS S TIER AND THATS ALL THAT MATTERS
Ill Communication, Blue Album and Morning Glory are three of the greatest modern rock records of all time. From front to back. Full stop.
The Weezer love made me feel really nice
Jane’s Addiction! Heck yeah!Loved Three Days and the second half of Ritual de lo Habitual so much. So bummed when they broke up. They almost died many times then.
I loved Pinkerton when it first came out while everyone else hated it. To this day, it's still one of my favorite albums.
when I tell people oasis is my favorite band (or one of) they always think I’m joking. I’m not. Then they stop laughing.
Weezer gets a lot of unnecessary dumping on. I think they’re just too smart and 50 years from now, people are going to talk about how great they were. I like them but don’t love them personally, I just respect their career.
Third eye blind is god tier and ever clear is s tier
You let me down Finn
Janes addiction getting the praise they deserve… they still sound great live too
Say It Aint So is fire. One of the best of the 90s.
When the media was trying desperately to hype up all that Blur vs Oasis bullshit all of us cool kids knew 2 things that were the truth:
1. It was fine to like BOTH.
2. The real best British band at the time were The Manic Street Preachers.
Finn loves oasis as well because he is kinda an asshole but brilliant and entertaining as well.
Tragic kingdom reminds me somewhat of the significant other and follow the leader. A breakthrough album with very varied material
The Tragically Hip was always an underrated band. RIP Gord Downie
I can relate to the old-thing so much 😆 The downward spiral is the new NIN, Psalm 69 is the new Ministry and Angel Dust is the new FNM, will always be!
ah yes....I remember my closely Gen X telling us we were wack for liking the "new school" Load and ReLoad Metallica albums 😂
@@juicyparsonsare they that bad? They came out in the era when gen x’ers were still not washed up
Creep is the only great Radiohead I’ve heard.
I like the oddity of ok computer, but actively don’t enjoy the rest of their discography.
Perhaps it has more to do with the fact all their fans, and they themselves seem to be pretentious assholes.
I agree as well. Although Their song There, There is pretty good. Granted there could be some jr high nostalgia maybe
I really liked your episode of Constellation! I hope the business focused SS+ or constellation topic happens. Justice for 311 😤
I loved me some everclear as a kid in the 90s.
Bro, 6:18 is wild... 💀💀💀💀
I want to see a diagram of Finn’s hypothetical bbq. Finn’s bbq fan fic or something 🤣
Pauls Boutique and Check Your Head are great albums
You by Candelbox is still one of my favorite songs from that era.
If I remember correctly, Radiohead HATES that song, and the Chugga part, was originally someone dropping the guitar on the ground.
I feel so vindicated. Every take from Beastie Boys to Radiohead to Jane's Addiction is exactly what I've thought for years. Does that make his or my opinion "right"? No. But I feel less alone. Thank you, Finn.
dad...you know how much you let me down with your hatred for Reel Big Fish, but im officially considering moving back in since you put Oasis on S tier. this is the best christmas gift ever! thank you so much! (btw, dont forget my birthday is on dec 27, and i expect an acoustic wonderwall performance from you) 😊 this is assuming you dont know any noel gallagher's high flying birds.
There’s no Tool without Green Jello.
I like candlebox and far behind is an amazing tribute to Andrew Wood
I still listen to No Doubt to this day. Also I think this is a solo era track, but I really like “Running”.
hey Finn been around awhile first found out about you from your main channel 4 years ago i’ve always wanted to know what your thoughts about HUM the band behind the song Stars i feel like no one ever talks about them love your stuff!!
Art Alexis is an American icon. He had the most difficult life imaginable in America, but isn't bitter about it one bit. His songwriting is S tier, and you should've put him overall on A tier. Done a lot of charity work too.
@@insulartomb well that's all fine amd good. But who's Eric?
Oasis were the last truly great rock n roll band. I’m not even the biggest fan, but they’re absolute legends.
