1:52 "It looked a little bit babies first real time strategy"
Depwoy the twoops XD
You get a cookie.
Om nom nom.
@kfor kira "I'll take a chocalate chip ....cookie :3 and EAT IT !!!
"And all of a sudden, pinpointing the previous Pikmin protagonist is your party of pillocks' primary priority"
Yahtzee is so admirably adept at alliteration
Aye, it's an appealingly awesome attribute, alright.
*twitch twitch*
Must... Hold... Back...
Can't!
You can't alliterate with vowels!
Heil grammar!
That's assonance
Biollate I WAS TWITCHING THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS
I mean fuck. He needs an award for this holly hell!
"And thank you WiiU- oh, your battery died."
I AM CRYING IN LAUGHTER
I hope your still crying six years later
I hope you're still crying six years later
To answer Yahtzee's question at the end, the flower on top is part of the Pikmin's body. However. there is a parasitic variety of Pikmin that can infect other creatures, resulting in said creatures having a flower sticking out of their back.
Just a note, if you played this game with the Wii Remote and Nunchuck, you wouldn't have been restricted to the analog sticks.
"I'll just slink off into the dark where the nerds belong..." Made me smile, and proud to be a nerd!
They actually patched in touchscreen support for pointing & shooting your Pikmin.
Nexo213 Thank god. I might consider this game now, though.
Jali Hawkins Unfortunately the game is out of print, so the eShop is your only option.
Nexo213 thanks for letting me know.
Jali Hawkins Not a problem. Trust me though, the game is great. And maybe pick up The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, & Splatoon while you're at it.
Nexo213 I think I probably will :) Add Monster Hunter 3 to that list too. Is the first Bayonetta on PC? If it comes in a bundle with the first one though, and is 1080/60, I'll probably just do that.
The last time I threw a load of vegetables around I got fired from my job at the coma ward.
+alex ryan Holy shit. That was amazing.
+denwerism nice copy from the credits friend.
cheatcodek Ive done it for a lot of videos, just a joke that commonly went unenjoyed
denwerism yea, that kinda sad really. Most of them are great.
cheatcodek yep
The funny thing is, the first two Pikmin games used the C-stick to direct your entire squad, which made it much easier to dodge attacks. I guess they thought you needed more camera control, but the camera is zoomed out so far it's practically an overhead game with a slight tilt, so the center camera button worked just fine...
I don't know if I'm the only one, but I keep the safety of my pikmin my highest priority, and if I leave one behind after dark, I get really sad
Me too 😢
Only in Pikmin 1. Pikmin 2 taught me both through narrative and gameplay to not give a shit
@@tmsplltrsI feel that's fair since every gane starts up with the Pikmin population nearly devastated.
@@sabes44😊😊😊
5:02 The German TV porn says: "Hmmm, you've had corn for dinner..."
._.
I mean it says "gegessen" which just means eaten. It could have been breakfast corn
Wait wait... Did nintendo... LISTEN TO YAHTZEE?! In the most recent patch they added touch screen support...
It's probably obvious to them now just like it was everyone else albeit late.
For those who didnt know pikmin was based on myamito's obession on gardening
"That'll teach me to pre-judge. Thanks, Pikmin 3, you fucking monster!" XD That was my reaction to my first time playing Pikmin.
"Mmm sie haben Mais gegessen"
... I'm not sure whether to lol or to wish I didn't understand German.
"I picked up Pik-pin-- I mean I picked up Mik-pin-- I ACQUIRED Pikmin 3" lol
Haha I freaking lost it when the guy started cooking one of the birds xD
"Depwoy the twoops"
It angers me that this was happening 5 years ago as well
my friend did a report on dodo birds apperantly they would literly walkm up to the hunters and put there mouths on the gunbarrel
they probably thought the gun barrel was food they were derpy birds
"And thank you, Wii U- Oh you ran out of battery." Made my day xD
Well, cynicism aside it at least seems like he enjoyed the game which is good, I like Pikmin. I haven't played the Wii ones but on my trusty cube the controls were easy enough. Praise the C stick.
Praise the Sun* \[T]/
\[T]/ Praise the Sun my brother!
The Skull Kid Yo, what's good, my Sun Bro? You ready for some j-j-j-jolly cooperation!? \[T]/
Miku Massacre :o :( ... have one sympathy like on me!
The first Wii game was great, second one way too expensive used, third one hopefully will be decent on the Switch too.
"The last time I threw a load of vegetables around I got fired from my job at the coma ward."
-Yahtzee Croshaw
I actually really appreciate being able to take the Switch away from TV mode. It’s so nice at night if my husband wants to go to bed early but I’m not tired yet. (I mostly game in the bedroom during the summer since the air conditioner is in there.) It’s so effortless to switch from tv to handheld mode that it doesn’t just feel like a shitty gimmick.
That ending is so on point with the WiiU. Made me laugh my ass off so hard.
As much I as really I like Pikmin 3. That last level absolutely could've been handled better. It reminded me of the underground segments from Pikmin 2, but way less interesting. Or you know, fun? Though final Boss was cool enough.
The ideal control scene is kind of weird though. You use the Wii Remote and Nun-chuck for precision, but have the Gamepad in front of you on the cradle to use as a map and control the auto pilot of your other two Captains for multitasking. Which once you get the rhythm down, becomes extremely satisfying. The problem is, there's really no reason the Gamepad function couldn't have been integrated into the in game pause menu, and It certainly would've felt less awkward.
Does 3 have the same motion blur that 1 has? I couldn't sit through more than 2 minutes without my eyes hurting, had to stop playing.
O Kanenas
Motion Blur... Hmm...
I'm not sure. Leaning towards no, but I've always seen motion blur as a good, when used tastefully. If movement is too crisp it gives off that uncanny "low budget" look, if you know what I mean.
When I played pikmin 1 it had motion blur so bad that it looked like the game was being smeared across the screen.
Honestly, the ideal control scheme would be to have the right analog stick control both cursor and camera at the same time. The lock-on feature compensates for when you have to press buttons, so why can't I have my cake and eat it too?
you should really go back and play the first two, the second was my favorite.
"MMH Sie haben Mais gegessen" = "MMH They've eaten sweatcorn"
+The Tree IDK what gegessen means, but I'm pretty sure 'Sie haben' means 'She has'
+ZurtleTheTurtle gegessen is the past tense of the infinitive verb "to eat". Also, Sie is "they", and sie is "she". Confusing, I know, but The Tree was absolutely right.
+Joseph Connell Thank you, as you can tell I'm a big ol' noob
+ZurtleTheTurtle actually, sie is they or she, Sie is the formal form of you
in this case the sie used is they because of the verbs conjugation (sie haben -> they have; sie hat -> she has)
+MrMeat42 Yes it makes it sound as if someone is speaking to their superior, which makes the sentence quite funny to german speaking people ^^
I only played the second pikmin but it is probably one of the most underated games of all time it got impossible for me though when i started getting to the caves that had more then 5 levels and required you to have every type of pikmin
+Light Shade First one kinda sucked for the simple reason that you had a 30 day hard cap on the entire game. 2 is much better, but otherwise much the same.
+joegt123 I think the original idea for the first game was to go through it multiple times and see if you can beat your previous time. Nothing wrong with that, just the RTS side of things make it feel like more wasted effort after all the time you spent growing your Pikmin on your first go only for the game to have to be restarted
+joegt123 I liked both one and two. One offered a real challenge that made me appreciate when I got multiple parts in one day. It meant I could use one day to make as many pikmin as possible. Two was a lot more raw fun though. It took the time stress out. I made it to the final area you get after the credits and it's just impossible sometimes.
at exactly 5:02 the translation over the TV is they ate the corn XD
"like the fucking trenches of the Somme"
Much like my MOBA play-style
"Fondness for the Game Cube" is understandable, seeing as how it's the last non-portable console from Nintendo that isn't shit -- the last portable one being the DS.
4:23 Every News Article Ever
I want to read "What Genocide" Magazine, Does that make me be a bad person??
Yahtzee's dodo dialogue is real virtuoso stuff.
I haven't played Pikmin 3 (I'm not buying a WiiU for one game), but I love Pikmin 1&2.
I theorise that the Pikmin follow the captains in the pikmin games because of the antenna of their helmets and how it gives them a vaugely pikmin shaped form.
pikmin 1: one astronaut
Pikmin 2: two astronauts
Pikmin 3: three astronauts
by this pattern I suspect there will be a small colony of astronauts on the Pikmin world by the time Pikmin 50 rolls around and the local pikmin population will most likely be enslaved...
fun fun fun
"Your human love"
the greatest cynical statement of all time
Keep coming back to this one. This is my favourite series. Nintendo or otherwise
2:40 - playing Dishonored 2 right now, this physically hurt. I actually really like the game and think it's pretty well designed on a macro level, but about 80-90% of the time I get spotted, it's because the game mechanics bugged out rather than me legitimately just fucking up. So I end up save scumming because that's the only way I can be sure to have an experience that doesn't feel like I got cheated by the game.
pikmin 3 is awesome
Yes
The german text is apparantly "they ate corn"
wrong they ate boobs
it roughly translates to 'yum, you ate corn'
he must have misspelled it then or I read it wrong... oh well
TheDimShow31 After some research on a german site about german slang, I found out it means something like this:
"Mmm. you ate ***."
But I never ever ever heard of this slang so... there I solved the mystery about a german slang which is probably never used in Germany. Now everything makes sence.
Animaniac190 I'm German, it's really not something like a saying that would be used anywhere.
The joke is actually that the thing is watching German porn, him being a Brit the first thing that jumps to mind when i hears 'German porn' is the kinkiest and craziest stuff imaginable.
So what that marble-eyed thing is watching is probably porn involving some kind of..feces play.
I guess it is a thing, even just for the scare value from clips like "2 girls 1 cup".
Now, corn is very hardly digestable (at least to us European folks, Americans might have a bit less of a problem there due to genetics), so it actually remains intact in the feces.
Now, to point out the obvious, playing games is deemed less important than watching THAT. In this joke. So it's a bit over the top, but still owns a grain of truth.
Well, as for the Wii u game pad, I like that I can use it even after the TV is gone. When I was a child I would have to stop playing because Mom's soaps were on. Wish it were a thing back then
2:55
Nice Alliteration!
Yahtzee we nerds don't deserve of being in darkness but in light, of our monitors.
DEPWOY THE TWOOPS
One more video... just one more.... I'm not addicted... I can stop anytime I want, I swear!
I laughed so much in the ending! Oh Yahtzee, you genius, you
"Depwoy the twoops!"
oh my god
Why isn't that you can't reply to some comments? and they just happen to be the most ignorant ones too. Schyklwer Hong...ignorant. ahh that's better.
There is now a feature to allow you to disable replies. When you leave a comment, click the "Public" button. It brings up a new box & you can block replies from there.
Zach King But what's the point of using that as a trolling technique? You don't get to see and laugh at all the butt hurt comments in reply to your own. And if you hit that little button that pops up when comments are added (to you know get the comments to scroll) you don't really get the chance to laugh at the replies and more laugh at the number of comments that started showing up after you placed your trolly comment. What the replies contain tend to be funnier than the number of comments that come after your own.
I agree, it's so stupid.
It has something to do with Google Plus, you can't reply to comments that were posted before Google Plus took over RUclips.
***** Pretty much. Also, pretty sure you're not the real John Tron, but I like your taste in RUclipsrs friend.
the first pikmin game you do get a whistle to call all plant things to you. you face a direction and toss them a set distance, and they automatically attack things they are near. so not bad for a console RTS.
Zero Punctuation your videos make me laugh, and keep them up!
It's better played with the Wiimote
Yeah
I agree. I can't stand the controls with the Pro Controller or Tablet.
Wii Remote is perfect.
+JackieFuckingChan I love the Gamepad control scheme, but it was naught but a grim reminder of how few shits Nintendo gives about left-handed people.
I preferred the old GameCube controller
Well now i know what scat porn is...
It's been six years since you learned what scat porn was. What else have you learned since then?
Pikmin 3 got an update where you can use the touch controls, making the controls more convenient.
Man, you just filled my pants with cream with how original, funny, and not overused that was! I seem to have misplaced my sarcasm meter, have you seen it?
For that last "Play Without TV" argument, I actually played Mario Kart 8 during my History class, so yeah!
How? Don't you have to be connected to your Wii U (The console, not the controller).
Kalle Berendijk The Wii U doesn't have to be connected to a TV for the Gamepad to work, just plug it in, and turn on the Gamepad!
Dave TheSniper Wow, thats pretty awesome!
Dave TheSniper Uh...That's not been my experience. While trying to watch Netflix two rooms away, Richard Hammond suddenly popped out of existence replaced with a message telling me to nudge a bit closer. And when playing Mario Kart 8, there's just enough tiny compression artifacts to suggest that Nintendo basically beat NVidia to the punch in terms of pixels going over the air - so I'm pretty certain that there's not a second Wii U stuffed into the GamePad, somehow complete with all of your disc-based games.
Thumbs up to Yahtzee for creatively reviewing a game I'm liking without making unfair criticism of it. I pretty much found the Gamepad perfectly fine (as soon as I found there was, in fact, a stylus on its back), and I'm just incredibly thankful that I'm not the type of person who painstakingly avoids letting a single Pikmin die.
***** Uhm, there is a socket just beside my seat. So I just plug the WiiU in and it's good to go!
Wow. A wii u game that he actually kinda liked? I might have to check my bum to make sure that pigs aren't flying out of it while they vomit pure gold
It's worth noting that Nintendo just made a patch for Pikmin 3 so you can use the touchscreen to accurately throw Pikmin. Yes, it took them almost a year to make it work the way we were expecting it to, but at least it's worth getting now if it was a deal breaker before.
honestly i wish the nintendo switch version has SOMETHING similiar to the touch screen or the wii-mote and nunchuck. being forced to either use the curser or the GOD-AWFUL gyro controls is a bummer for such a great game
So...he liked it, right?
Yeah he did but the Wii u gamepad made it bad
Omar Carbajal I figured it was the crappy use of it that did. A pixel-precise touch screen for aiming that can't even be used?
***** the sad part about the gamepad is that it doesn't even feel like a controller, just a giant brick
Omar Carbajal Eh, the few times I've used it I did like it a lot more than the Wii controller. I've actually mostly grown up with Nintendo handhelds, so that wasn't much of a problem.
***** persoannly in pikmin 3 the only good use of the gamepad is that you can survey the map and plan your next move. But that's about it
... Pikmin 3?! THERE WAS A PIKMIN 2!?!?
???
"Every German casualty gets dragged into the Allied trenches to have their flesh minced up and converted into rations."
I really should know better than to drink coffee when listening to Yatzee at this point.
Where does he come up with all of the analogies. They're simply gold.
Am I the only one who likes the wii u controller?
I never know if voting these up means "Yes, everyone hates it." or "Yes, I agree with your perspective."
Favvful "yes, I agree with your perspective."
Favvful "Yes, everyone hates it."
I hate you both.
Perry Davis Nope, wrong good sir.
I actually enjoy the Wii U controller. I find it's comfortable and a fresh new take on a controller system. Dunno why everybody rags on the Wii U. Kinda' seems it's just biased and not really because of what it is; but rather who it's made by.
Yet at other times Yahtzee goes about how the GameCube controller is the best.
it's honestly retarded. I don't know why they're trying to make an ipad as a controller. It's like they completely fired their ergonomics department and said ''lets make something uncomfortable to play with''.
WHATISUTUBE That's your opinion. Like I said: I enjoy using it. Also, I find it VERY comfortable. That's me though. I have to ask: have you ever ACTUALLY used one? You seem to be taking a biased point of view against it. The look shouldn't matter in my opinion. The controller opens up cool new opportunities and ways to play games, and in my honest opinion remains to be one of the most comfortable controllers (in my opinion) on the market to this day.
ZambieSurvivalist I must agree, particularly with a GAMEware skin I received for it as well. It's the best controller I've ever used.
For the record, I haven't used many from Nintendo
Duelshocks 1,2,3 & 4 Wiimotes, Xbox 360's, X1's
DONKIN' .DONUTS I have a WiiU sitting on the shelf behind me, actually. Yes I've tried it; the ability to play games on your bed is nice (if it had good range, that is), but if that's the case why not ditch the console deal and just make a portable with the power of a console?
Anyway; the only ''opportunities'' (nice Nintendo marketing term) for it are, let me see....
inventory management.
Just like the Wii led a ''revolution'' and ''innovated'' the market by having you waggle instead of pushing a button, I take it this new gimmick is gonna be another throwaway Fisher Price toy that does nothing to add to gaming.
and if its the most comfortable controller on the market to this day to you, that's fine. But god damn did you pick the weirdest controller. I don't HATE Nintendo, I just feel that they keep wasting time and money with new gimmicks that don't lead anywhere in an attempt to lure in casuals with a new fisher price toy. And their hardware is always outdated. The same people that say 'graphics dont mean anything' are the same ones that were creaming themselves over HD Zelda and the new consoles graphical capabilities.
well I needed something like this to make me feel better today. thanks Yahtzee, you manacle genius
I don't know what's more impressive, the fact that a coma ward would employ you or the fact that you could toss multiple vegetables.
This really points out how Yahtzee is a comedian, not a critic. No mention of the different kinds of Pikmin, enemies or puzzles. No real critique other than the game having bad controls and a bad controller, and a continuity he didn't know
I thought Miyamoto's inspiration for Pikmin was when he watched ants as a kid or something like that. What's this about a job of throwing pets into a canal?
It's a joke.
Isaac Argesmith Oh okay. XD
It was actually from watching ants in his garden :) he wondered how he could make a game from that and boy did he make one.
michaelb3197 Yeah, that's what I'd remembered hearing about it. :)
I love how Yahtzee pronounces "hitherto" like "hither-toe"
Aaaaahhh so much better than other escapist reviews.
You actually highlight the good and bad points where as escapist just goes "Durr not COD 0/10".
So did you like Pikmin 3? It was a little unclear in the review.
it always is he doesn't really review so much as states some flaws and maybe some positives but never says i recommend this game unlike people like somecallmejohnny or projared
+Ben Sell Nah he does it sometimes. Like with Doom and Resistance 3
Also ride to hell.
Usually he makes it pretty clear how he feels about a game
THat's called a real review. He states what he likes and what he dislikes and leaves it up to the viewer to interpret how they'd feel about the game. You don't need someone to hold your hand and tell you what you like.
What's an IP? (Please don't tell me to just "Look it up".) :)

"mmm, you have eaten maize"
That was amazing, subscribed!! :D
Pikmin 1 was great. The other two were design-by-focus-group sludge.
Funny joke
Pikmin 2 beats out Pikmin 1 any day.
HAHAHA, no.
My opinion; add a mechanic in Pikmin where you could use the Pikmin like a carrot on a fishing poll to ride enemies into unique areas or even into a pen where you can then bring them back to Hoccatet (or whatever Olimar’s home planet is called) to become exhibits in some kinda unique monstrosity zoo.
not quite, but there is a mechanic in pikmin 4 where you ride a critter lol
@@littlesnowflakepunk855 I’ve seen that. Can’t believe I almost predicted the future. It’s like Yahtzee not being totally correct in one of his Paper Mario reviews about the big bad of the following game being a hole puncher, but that one was just a boss. A funky boss, but still a boss.
The Wii U gamepad is used in conjunction with the Wiimote and Nunchuck, it works surprisingly well.
With the analog thing, you could have just used the pointer and the gamepad as a map. Here is how : step 1: take a chair, and put it close enough to the tv to use your wii remote's pointer. step 2: take the gamepad and a wii remote with a nunchuk. Step 3: sit down on that chair from earlier, use the wii remote as your controller, and put the gamepad on your lap so you can use it as the map.
i switched to the classic controls so everything was near enough as i remembered so i have no problems with the game.
except they took away the directional march whistle (but theres not a 3rd stick so i can understand why).
Um... I'm pretty sure theres a setting in controls on using the gamepad to throw things isn't there? OR you could just use the wii remote to do it.
"Hmmmm, you had ate corn." Classy. :D
Is that song in the intro have a full version? Anyone?
"...the idea pikmin came from a summerjob he had throwing unwanted family pets into a canal"
Or driving game series into the trash...
*Does that song in the intro have a full version? Anyone?
That was brilliant. Cheers mate!
I love PIKMIN 😍😍
That last line. I lost it.
I always have difficulty with Pikmin because I felt like the worst monster. You raise these little creatures spend their entire lives dedicated to either sending me off of the planet or ending financial debt. I dunno about you, but I feel horrendous growing an entire army and having them killed just cause I was too stupid to bring a cell phone.
Well, you're helping them as well. Without the organisation and throwing ability provided by the captains, the Pikmin are pretty much at the bottom of PNF-404's food chain, so you help them not only to survive, but to thrive.
An update just came out for the game which adds touch screen controls. It makes the game a lot better, but I feel like it should have been there at launch.
for some reason I can't stop watching this one. It's like poetry or something.
It's what separates "It's time to eat, grandma." from "It's time to eat grandma."
I feel like using the Wii remote controls would've been more fun since you like point and click controls as opposed to the analog sticks.... or the gamepad now cause it did end up receiving that touch control update lol
"A RTS game that plays as well, maybe even better on a console then on a PC"
-No publisher ever said about any RTS
Personally I prefer the analog control grouping. It allows one to quickly grab a good sized chunk of pikmin without having to painstakingly click every unit you want to move. It just works well for this game.
There is thing called double clicking and drag-selecting that happen to also be in most RTS's.
*TheMoreYouKnow!*
Are the controls on the WiiU thingy that bad, I always found the GameCube controls simple and very accurate, have they digressed that much?
How is it that the first two Pikmin games were on the Gamecube and this on is on the Wii U?
the dodo dialogue killed me
My fiance never has the battery life problem Yathzee complains about. He just leaves the controller in when he plays.
"Party of pillocks..." My gawd, best thing ever.
