Ive gotten complete pass throughs before given broadside shots and also quartering away shots with no deflections yet.
Coming from a guy that has shot 40-50 deer with rage and a few with the sevr 1.5. I can 100% tell you the sevr is 5 times more durable than the rage and they work great but I can also 100% tell you that the blood trails from the rage are a bit more devastating. It sucks they aren't as durable but it gets the job done everytime. Ive shot many big bucks through the scapula with the rage and blown through. Some times you get a small exit hole with the sevr if it pivots. When this happens your blood trail isn't very good for the first 20-30 yards but then opens up. The best rage they ever had was the red chisel tip. I just prefer the 2 inch cut over the extreme chisel. If they came out with a 2 inch red chisel tip head with the nc I wouldn't shoot another head ever again. I shot 7 deer one year with the same rage chisel head

If you are going to shoot 1.5 inch mechanical, just shoot a larger fixed blade. I do like the sevr alot better then the rage. However I've shoot deer with both brands with good results.
The problem with larger fixed blade heads in hunting is you aren’t always shooting in the most comfortable positions. It’s very easy to torque a bow or put to much face pressure on strings resulting in a bow that is no longer “tuned” and that large fixed head is going where it wants. Sure a mechanical is going to be off but not nearly as much.

The sevr is way tougher than the rage. The rage is just too flimsy. Breaks on ribs. The sevr is tough as nails. Pivots out of the way if it hits bone. Love the sevrs.
I have tested it with my 83.5 lb bow with a 495 grain arrow 277 FPS (27 inch draw) slightly better penetration but still not great best head they have regarding penetration is the 1.5
The only negative I can say about the Sevr 2.0 is when you put the locking screw into it for practicing, some of the edge of the blades are still exposed. They need to modify the design a bit.
What happens with SEVR is when it penetrates, if you push down on the wings you will see the SEVR open up just a little bit more! Also, SEVRs blades lock into position and moves around bone if it should hit it which makes it more devastating!!! I wish I could send you what the 2.0 did to the Turkeys I shot! Should put a piece of leather or something over the front of the gel. It will simulate the “skin” it goes through, which helps mechanicals deploy fully with the resistance it gives. Sometimes ballistic gel can be a little too soft. Cool video!!

It’s no cheating it was just what happened I’m not a machine But we can do the test again don’t bother me personally you’d never find either of these heads in my quiver, the only Sevr that has impressed me has been the 1.5 that head is a beast the rest are subpar at best and the newer rage are the same from our testing Plenty of better heads out there
Durability really isn’t that much of a factor. 95% of my mechanical broadheads along with people I experienced destroy them when hitting deer. If not the ground screws it up just enough to not trust. Plus on blade had less resistance because it wasn’t inside gel fully.
Durability to me is important it cannot break on impact or it will only wound the deer I’m ok with it not being able to be used again but it must survive the impact and do it’s job along the pass through of the animal or I’d refuse to use it
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA I agree 100%. I’m just talking about how myself and probably you will put a used mechanical broadhead on the back burner or for squirrels and rabbits ect. They never come out unscathed. I’m just really saying I never will shoot one more than twice haha.

It’s no cheating it was just what happened I’m not a machine
But we can do the test again don’t bother me personally you’d never find either of these heads in my quiver, the only Sevr that has impressed me has been the 1.5 that head is a beast the rest are subpar at best and the newer rage are the same from our testing
Plenty of better heads out there
Sevr all day
Which model? Only one that was impressive in testing was the 1.5 that head is MEAN!
At a deer or elk that is. Small Game arrow after just out of respect for the animal. Wanna send a perfect practiced broadhead to take out ethically.
I get your angle it’s why I switched to fixed head’s especially after the most testing we did I don’t for-see returning to mechanicals although I still want to kill one with the thrive 1.5 single bevel mechanical so I don’t rule it out entirely 🤣
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA had several wrist surgeries in the last 4 years so I’m shootings crossbow now but yes fixed is the way to go 100% with compound. Grizz tricks were my go to or hood ol muzzy
Shoot the rage watched em all die so far 30 to 40 yards and done
Love to hear that!!
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA shot 2" rockets since came out also used wasp jackhammer
Like rage best
We’ve tested a couple wasp and they have impressed us!
Really want to shoot sevr but need to work my poundage up because I’m only shooting 42 lbs because of 2 pins in my shoulder
Why don’t you look at a cut on contact fixed head with a little weight up front? It sounds like it’d be a better option
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA since I can’t shoot an expandable yet bought stingers Montecs and Exodus to see which penetrate the deepest in a block target at 20 then see if they’ll fly straight
Peep our fbi grade ballistic gel test we’ve shot all those in gel
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA thank you
You betcha 🔨🦃
Kinda slow bow for those specs
Wish I had longer arms but here I am
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA I hear ya but 80# and only that speed is crazy … but It is a matthews 😬
It’s 78.5 lb draw not 80 but the speed isn’t slow with that arrow weight, the vxr isn’t a screaming bow speed wise by no means but archers understand there is A LOT more important statistics than IBO speed ahahaha
my triax with the wake limbs is 83.5 # draw maybe you mixed them up
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA just referring to the one in the video , at 70# my rx5 shoots 312 at a 476 arrow
Cool but I hate how they shoot, I’ll take feel and performance over speed anyway but that’s just me we all have our preferences
What’s your draw length
It wasn't a grim reaper
What lol
Try a meat seeker and you’ll throw those away
Meat seekers are illegal in our state, I also don’t hunt with either of these heads just putting them side by side for testing
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA dang... mechs all together or just barbed heads or heads you can’t pull out?
Barbed heads are illegal in NY & personally not a fan of them either, we have tested the meat seeker, it was ok better options in my setup without the added risk
@@BlueCollarOutdoorsUSA I understand .
They are mean heads though lol
I knew the sevre would win. Rage are obsolete and crap.
Agreed
RAGE IS JUNK...... CHECK LUSK ADVENTURES FOR REAL BROAD HEAD TESTS
First test with us clearly 🤣🤣🤣
