    I’ve been shooting the SEVR 1.75 and they are absolutely phenomenal!!! Never had a broken or bent blade but just like every mechanical I’m sure it might happen someday but until then I’ll stay with SEVR at 16.99 before I’ll pay the astronomical 30$ price for the Beast!!

      1.75 will be in my quiver, as will this year. I want to see how that head performs.

      Really feel you will have great success with the SEVR 1.75. I shot a 300# hog at 35 yards….. complete pass through went 30 yards and died. I also picked up 3 of the new SEVR 1.5 hybrid just to try and I wish they would make the hybrid in 1.75!

    7075 Aluminum is half the strength of Titanium. The Sevr was the highest scoring broadhead in Lusk’s test for good reason. Josh has also shot the sevr through a car hood and cape buffalo just fine.

    • @MichiganAmBushOutdoors
      @MichiganAmBushOutdoors  2 месяца назад

      Yes. I remember those videos, and I was going to mention that John was a huge advocate for Sevr and Essential he just added to the already existing design, but I cut the fluff out of the video.
      I also like the strength of the sevr, but 7075 is some tough stuff.
      Also, the sevr scored higher only on durability. Beast scored way higher on sharpness and edge retention.

    the reviewer is a fan boy, one concern i have with the slowmo beast clip is deployment rate. they hang the skin to pop the broadhead about a foot away, they have the abililty to put it very close to the meat/bone to still show deployment if the broadhead can achieve it but they pick a weird distance to keep skin from meat

    I've killed 4 nice bucks the last 3 years with the sevr 2'' and 1.5'' and none of the deer ran out of sight. They are a fantastic heads but they have one small flaw by design. When they hit the rib cage on the back side of the deer the blades pivot just like they should. Only thing is during pivot, they reduce their cutting area by as much as half when coming out of the deer, and that makes for a fairly weak blood trail. So far I've not had to use the blood trail, but if one runs off, it's going to be hell finding it.

      I know you acknowledge the pivoting head is by design, but the original theory still stands: a pass through is the goal whether it's one inch or two inches or more. Even a smaller exit with a pivoted blade is better than, say, a 3 inch Shwacker with a small entry and no exit due to getting caught up or deflected in the animal.

    I purchased 5 of the Sevr 125gr to hunt for whitetail last year, but they never survived long enough to use in the hunt…. Four of them were destroyed during the first shot into the “Block” target. The blade engagement tabs snapped off when they hit the target. I used them on my crossbow shooting at 383 fps, 22 inch Black Eagle Executioner arrows, and no extra added on weight. No I didn’t shoot at an angle and No I didn’t shoot them through any other medium except for the worn out “Block” target. That was an expensive failure, I shot four broadheads one time each, they broke on the first shot (at 20 yards)…..so I won’t be wasting any more time or money on Sevr Broadheads.
    I suppose they would be decent for a recurve bow, but I don’t think they would be able to handle anything shooting faster than 300 fps in my opinion

I reached out to Sevr last week to ask if they could recommend a good mechanical for my crossbow setup and I explained what happened with the last set I purchased from them. They apologized to me and they’re sending me a replacement set….and that truly gets all of my respect!
      As far as the failures I experienced, I am now believing that I must have received a “bad batch”. I’ve watched several hundred different videos about Sevr, many were the exact model (2.0 Robusto 125gr) and every video praised Sevr broadheads. I really do want to like Sevr Broadheads, so I’m definitely going to try them again. I’ve never bashed Sevr in any videos or in any review….but I will certainly promote them and support them just based on the amazing customer support I received. They were truly exceptional to talk to…and that’s a rare trait these days.
      I’m excited to be able to give them another shot, hopefully they will surpass my personal opinion of them (which I think is going to be the case).

    With the Beast, you're paying the price of a single bevel monolithic head but not getting the lifetime warranty or durability. Sever at least make their heads affordable enough to not sweat it when you break one. I can spend my money once on a single bevel broadhead like a VPA and have it forever. Backed by a no questions asked watranty. I believe the biggest reason everyone is jumping on the beast broadhea is because its innovative and has the cool factor. I dont believe they kill anymore effectively than a sever would. The lack of a new type of bone avoiding technology wasn't a problem before with the severs. If Im afraid ill hit heavy bone, ill shoot a single bevel/ heavier set up. But to stay relevant as an influencer I guess you have to jump in the hype train every time or else youl be left behind. Im just always weary of things that are being sold to solve a problem that already had a solution, the same way, but at twice the price. Thank you for the video.

      You make great points, I've killed over a dz animals with sevr but more then half exit holes have been just over half the full cut size and a exit hole usually produces the most blood on the ground so half the size of entry isn't what I personally want. (I hope seve makes non pivot head) I think the beast will make full cut exits (I hope) but they are not cheap. I just killed a nice reindeer in Greenland with the new sevr hybrid and yep small exit hole compared to entry. But the fixed blades of the sevr did help with a better exit. Now just need it in 2inch cut.

      @MichiganAmBushOutdoors I didn't say you. I said @D_Boone didn't know the whole story about Josh and Sarah. They catch so much hate from people in and out of the hunting community and they haven't the slightest idea of what happened. Josh and Sarah are both good people. They got caught up in someone else's illegal activities. Then out of the other 95 people that were also charged that DIDN'T know they were doing anything illegal, Josh and Sarah were "high profile" and so the state of Nebraska USED them as an example! Had to pay like 200k in fines all together and do community service in a state they didn't live in. Then on top of it, Josh, unlike a lot of other people, came out on RUclips, and said you know what I accept responsibility I should have known the law changed and baiting was no longer legal, even though we used an outfitter who was the ones doing the baiting we assumed it was legel. So they had to plead guilty to conspiracy..... They don't deserve the hate they get. Josh is a super good dude

    do yourself a favor and try a pack of swhacker original 1.75" . i think i have tried every head on the market over the past 45 years. im done trying new heads, i have came to the conclusion that the original swhacker is as close to perfection as a head can get. you can also tape them shut with 2 to 3 wraps of electrical tape and practice with the exact head you are going to hunt with. they also have the lowest profile in flight of any head on the market, for the best accuracy. i have never had a deer go out of my sight with them, and 99 percent of the time you can just touch up the blades and use it again. i have lost more on pass-through's than i have damaged. i only have had one head that got a slight wobble after a pass-through and it was buried deep in the ground, probably smacked a rock in the ground.

They and the outfitter said they didn’t know he was setting other clients on top of the piles in off hours aka poaching. @MichiganAmBushOutdoors on the broadheads, or on German blades?
      The reviews on the broadheads appear to mostly be marketing repeating crap like "everyone knows German Blades are the best" and "blades open at 950 mph" or 750.
      Or repeating flat out lies like the bone avoiding technology, that appears to have been ripped off from VIP broadheads who have been using similar tech for years now.
      The few tests I've seen result in beast broadheads (a name he ripped off from an older similar design) famous German blades breaking, not retaining and edge, and blades not deploying in gel.

    • @MichiganAmBushOutdoors
      @MichiganAmBushOutdoors  2 месяца назад +1

      I've heard multiple reports about 750 and 900, and to be honest, I don't know if either is true or false, and I mentioned that in the video. As for broadheads testing, I only watch one guy, and that's Lusk, because his process for scoring broadheads is repeatable and makes the most sense to me, and in his testing, the beast survived MDF and cardboard (if I'm not mistaken) and never lost edge retention. It also survived the steel test and didn't break until it was shot at a cinderblock.
      My review was about a head-to-head comparison as I don't personally like destroying products I intend to use.

      @PatrickOConnor-n7r 2 месяца назад +2

      418 grains is perfect for a white tail. Hell, MFJJ completely passed through a buffalo with that. And he was using a grim reaper mechanical. It's not about weight. It's about how much KE you're delivering to that animal. Once you hit a certain threshold of arrow weight, your bow can no longer give it more energy because of how heavy it is. Just because the arrow is heavier, doesn't mean your bow is maxing it with kinetic energy. You do have a peak. And for most set ups, that's going to peak at about 430 grains of arrow weight. You can find KE calculators everywhere to find out what your maximum is.

    • @PatrickOConnor-n7r
      @PatrickOConnor-n7r 2 месяца назад +3

      For example, my set up is a Mathews V3X 29, 28 inch draw, 75 lbs, 430 grain arrow. My KE is about 84.8 ft/lbs. Shooting right at 300 fps. With a 500 grain arrow, my KE would be 83.78. And arrow speed would be 275. Why in the world would I want to keep the same KE, actually a little less, but have my bow shooting 25 fps slower??? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. There's no animal in North America that would require someone to have a 500 grain plus arrow to harvest.
