  • This video contains the basic steps to change out the front brake pads, front brake rotor and front brake caliper. Initially this was suppose to just be a video for the brake pad replacement, but due to the condition of the rotor and caliper we had to replace everything.
Some steps were missed due to the recording issues and editing.
    * I plan on recording the driver side front brake replacement in another video*

I was scratching my head until I saw your video. This is so different from most caliper mounts on other trucks.

Hey, it looks like you had several unforeseen issues but it makes this a great video. Everyone has a video of a textbook repair and in reality THIS is how it goes!

Hey guys good vid. I just did mine, 1990 Ranger, and unlike me you should have had a small container with gas to clean all those parts, Inspect the bearing rollers and determine if new bearings are needed. Flat Black spray paint looks good and slows down rust, and corrosion. A small spot of anti seize on the lug nut threads makes it easier next time ya gotta get yer nuts off. HdHH, That's Har dee Har Har. LOL is sooooo lame, HdHH.

I always pry the caliper open with a large screwdriver before removing the caliper....pop out the pins slap in the pads and throw it all back together.... usually takes about 15 minutes or less per side...

So lets not forget to spray the rotor with brake cleaner and wipe it clean. The factory applies an oil base coating so the rotor dosent rust

It's been a little while, just use your best judgement and try and find a spot on the frame that makes sense.

Whats the use of the little hardware pieces that are included? Almost look like retaining clips

Hey, its easier to use a 3/8 extension. The big end to push em in, the other end to push em out all the way.
