I saw the Missions many times as a teen in Boston, and once at Hurrah in NYC--they we're very ahead of their time, yet they were very appreciated by their fans, and everybody danced like crazy

ha..ha..I filmed this and let me tell you that the Paradise Club was a small sit down venue. You get up and show "audience response" and then get thrown out of the club. So the audience was not dead.. just dealing with the stupid rules....

MoB has more well-known songs but I'd have to call this one my favorite.

God, I have seen them twice already and it's amazing that the audience is completely dead in this video. They aren't joking when they said they had little audience response asides from their fans.
God they are young in this!
    Thanks for posting

This was at the Paradise, which is a sit down venue. People literally weren't allowed to stand or move around lol

Music back then was awesome. Roger Miller is so talented. Never got his due. Too Bad.

were these guys decades ahead of their time, or did the progress of music retire on the day they came to be?

My thoughts exactly, xyloplax. I could not have sat during MoB in 1980, my legs would turn to bone.

Actually, this isn't my footage. It's from a DVD called "Not a Photograph," which is an official band-sanctioned release. Thank you for the compliment though. :)
I've got another early live Mission of Burma video up on RUclips, which I also got from the same DVD.

I just realized you might have been talking to user pravda01 and not me. But my point still stands, this footage is readily available on DVD.

    Oh Wow!
More 1980s music made by imitating the sound of a bolt trapped in a dryer running on high.
    Thankfully those days are gone.
