One of the best bands to ever come out of Boston. Back in the late 70's...early 80's...they dominated the very active Boston-Providence club scene. There was nobody like them...intensity off the charts.

This is right up there with "7 And 7 Is", "Surf's Up", and "Mayonaka" by Arepos. One of the greats

Fond memories of that night. Roger's solo was always different and often just as good as this one, which is to say spectacular. Thanks so much for putting this up. (And BTW, that's actually Martin Swope on tape loops, not Bob Weston.)

I got the credit for tape loops from the band. I believe Bob Weston was at this show and did live mixing at the sound board opposite the stage and dancefloor.

@@VJ1tv It is Martin Swope. Bob Weston was 15 in 1980. His tenure with the band began in 2002.

@@cubistblues oh darn, you're right. Maybe i will re-edit the film titles, if I can find back the edit, or else add a footnote in all releases. Thanks for the precision.

Some Pi Day celebrations got me inspired to make this and put it up. The band wrote this song for a celebration of Einstein's birthday back in 1980.

Great guitar solo, much different than the one on the studio version.

Yes, all these years later and I just noticed that! Quite different. It shows how Roger is creating, not recreating. I love it!

It's definitely better performed in studio to be completely honest

I quite love the humanity cracking through this version. When you listen to the 2 versions, the guitar solo is radically different, yet oh so good in both versions. I would not have thought to compare them, and it's really interesting to listen to, so thanks for the suggestion. I also like seeing Roger's mike work here, the purposeful backing away to make a dynamic of a receeding voice. I hadn't noticed that before either.

This is what bands should sound like live, human beings playing a song.

The studio solo is beautiful, with heavy use of feedback. I love this melodic, Television-esque approach to it live though. Roger is a genius.

He’s actully having hearing problems already by this time.. In the next 2-3 years you’d see Roger with earmuffs live..
