POLICE CHASE: Attempted murder suspect switches cars during wild pursuit in LA | LiveNOW from FOX

- A suspect wanted for attempted murder led officers with the Los Angeles Police Department on a pursuit that spanned across Los Angeles County, at one point ditching one vehicle and getting into another.
The chase began sometime around noon PT in the South Los Angeles area, before the driver in a Chevy Avalanche led LAPD officers through the Inglewood and Westchester areas, and around Los Angeles International Airport.
At one point, the driver crashed into another car and continued to flee. Shortly thereafter, the driver ditched the first vehicle and got into the back of another vehicle, that appeared to be waiting for the suspect.
Just after 2 p.m. PT, two suspects got out of the vehicle in made a run for it in LA's Harbor Gateway neighborhood, going in opposite directions. One of the suspects surrendered in front of a home where they were surrounded by officers and subsequently taken into custody.

Some of these chases are absolutely crazy. Sadly, as others said, this happens all day every day in the US. Not necessarily murder suspects but criminals in general. Unfortunately, there has been story after story lately of innocent bystanders or drivers being crashed into and killed during fast and dangerous cases. The police often need to just call chases off if it's "just" a vehicle theft or a robbery and catch them later but a lot of times they won't. Criminals like that belong under a jail in my opinion, but it's not worth an innocent civilian being killed over it. Attempted murder or murder though, I fully believe in chasing them until the end obviously.
These were almost a daily occurrence when I lived in LA in the early 90's, the news choppers always seemed to get a kick out of reporting them. Is it still as bad?

The reason the first vehicle ran until the wheels failed was because the escape vehicle # 2 was getting more fuel.
New law: You carjack someone in the midst of a pursuit and it's automatic life in prison, no appeals, no parole, die in the slammer.

When the LAPD are involved, you know the pursuit is going to be a laughable display of incompetence, and a massive waste of resources, and time. Not to mention a huge waste of taxpayers' money.
Having watched literally hundreds of these pursuits all over the US - it's clear that most other police depts would have wound this up at the first opportunity. The LAPD seems incapable of making decisions. Perhaps they are trying to bore everyone to death. Or maybe the police get a thrill out of being on TV. "Look honey I'm on TV - that's me in the 14th pursuit vehicle".
The longer these pursuits are allowed to drag out, the greater the risk to the public - that's a statistical fact. People are far more likely to make mistakes and errors in judgement when tired.
Clearly, the LAPD needs some new decisive leadership.
Even in the first 15 minutes of this video, there were numerous opportunities for the suspect to be apprehended. This a farce - it reminds me of those old keystone cops comedies.
I hope the cops are smarter than Stew over here, and realize it was obviously NOT a "carjacking" when it's clear that the green SUV reversed ( 20:46 ) to pick-up the wanted murder suspect. 😮
Also, the female passengers were most definitely involved as we see them reach for the passenger door that was opened for them.
