@@jess1987 I understand. She couldn't own her own feelings and projected it onto me so she didn't have to look at herself. No thanks. I have enough problems of my own. It can wreck havoc on families or relationships. I'm so sorry for your experience but I'm glad you learned from the experience. I hope it hasn't had a lasting emotional impact on you but understand if it has.
This so called antiques expert baffles me. I am not an expert but knew there is no way someone would pay 150 quid for each of those junk cabinets. Secondly, he shouldn’t have sold those cameras at a general local auction but rather online or physical auction specializing in people interested in collecting cameras. How much petrol does he spent to sell a book for a fiver.
This is not a show "make me money", it's a show to make people get rid of hoard. If the owner of the things wants more money he would have to do it himself.
If I learned anything from the Konmari philosophy, it's that Joe's not ready to tackle sentimentals. You learn the tidying process by starting with much, much easier categories for a reason.
As a photographer, and can say, that just because a camera is old and in good condition, doesn't make it valuable. Very few of these, has good value. They are much better kept in a collection. Like a small museum.
@@thornyback it's fine if it's done by a show, but the average person is better off sometimes throwing stuff away. For example, my local Goodwill and other places are already full of clothes, and any used clothes they just threw away anyway.
They should really utilize consignment shops for the clothing hoarders, I used to drop off large garbage bags full of clothes to the shop back in 2017 and made decent money off of my cut
With the instruments and speakers it depends on how they sound rather how they look! One can always change the face of a speaker just like you can change the strings of a guitar or bass etc etc!
For the ones who ended up with a clear room that had no definite plan for use, perhaps they should consult a real estate agent for what would be the kind of room that would give the house the most value.
It’s probably a quicker, easier sell if they’re all in a lot. He might’ve gotten $150 for the one camera but it might take a month to sell and the others might’ve sat and not sold. Better to get rid of the cameras as a lot using the one expensive camera to attract a buyer than take time to sell them, giving him time to reconsider.
Curtis doesn't know much about prices for sure, that's why he does this, he likely can't make money for himself. I wonder if his house is cluttered with all the junk he bought cheap from these people.
Omg these pokemon cards would bring great bucks now. I think having collections is cool though, I love antiques and collectibles myself, but one must be careful to collect in a decently organized way and not hoard.
Why shop for new clothes then? Try to "shop" your closed instead, you'll still get to measure, analize, select, discover, mix and match pieces but without paying :)
Hoarders: *create piles of items, has no clue what's in a pile, never ever uses item* Also hoarders: *refuses to get go item so that it can be used in the future* 😩
these are not hoarders, these people are collectors. don't mix these two things up. hoarding really needs to be treated on a deeper level, hiding trauma's that haven't been processed
It's very easy in India . Here we have domestic help to keep our houses clean .we can easily give away old clothes utensils furniture even food items children from poor families even take books that have remaining pages and text books from the year back
Hoarding both relieves anxiety and generates it. The more hoarders accumulate, the more insulated they feel from the world and its dangers.
As an avid de-clutterer! The smallest bit of clutter, gives me anxiety. My mum is a level 1 hoarder and I can't stand it 😓.

I’m a hoarder the the clutter gets extremely overwhelming
I wonder how much of this auctioned clutter lands by other hoarders. I'm just imagining them meeting same items in different households.
I'm thinking the same, people don't really need but buy things from other "collectors"
I was thinking the same!!
Hoarding is a form of OCD. Usually hoarders accumulate stuff to fill up a void they feel due to past traumas.

In the U S, had those cabinets/dressers been cleaned and painted, they would have sold for 2-3 times the amount they originally paid for them.
Agree completely.

Joanna is so natural in helping people. Curtis is very creative and practical. Both make a great team.

Please bring a recycling/repurpose expert too!! Throwing out/being wasteful is a huge part of hoarders barriers. Mine anyway
Thank you! I'm so tired of these shows just tossing everything to the heap.
Something about Diana is super annoying

@@kbanghart they shouldn’t be accepting donations then, i live in a small town and we have 5+ thrift stores.
@@AmazingRebel23 I don't know if they were accepting, or people were just dumping them outside.
It's simple either sell it, give it or throw it away! I did 3 years ago and moved to Hawaii with 3 suitcases. Best decision ever.
I know most of the time the spaces are better than they were, but it always looks like they still need to get rid of even 50% more

You could donate those toys at Christmas time .There would be a lot of happy little ones.☹️
Being charitable goes a long way to avoid hoarding. This is another level of consumerism.

The narrator was being very generous using the term Haute Couture when describing the ladys wardrobe. Looks like an abundance of High st stuff to me
Thousands of Pokemon cards?! Wow that's worth thousands of dollars now!
Drowning in useless clothes, but selling a very beautful furniture. Done well!
Don't freaking sell at a generic auction at short notice for potentially valuable . Omg
Yes if you have to get rid of it, sell it.
Dam, that must hurt that the cars buyer fell through. I had a bad feeling it was too good to be true.
they should give most of what he decided to give up to homeless kids, especially the toys and gloves

Any woman who wants to "tear up" her man's photos, regardless who is in them, is not worth being with. That's toxic jealousy.
Why did they sell the cameras as a whole lot when he has seen the one camera go for 150?

Agree, and he seems to go to places that are very local instead of going to a specialized type of auction.

Omg I hope they sold those pokemon cards and got a decent price! Imagine if they threw them away 😱
i've seen this auctioneer before, he starts TOO LOW
Diana should put on a fancy dress & strappy heals more often and *Peter should take her out on dates.*
I haven't seen too many episodes of this show, but I feel like a lot of these people would be better off just selling items on their own online...
Yes indeed

The intro sounds like an ad tho. LOL
I like this two. They have a good strategy.
Those cars from the movie were really old. You can still get them in shops today.
Joe, no, everybody doesn’t do this. It’s easy, if you don’t use it, lose it, and get the $.$$.
I might have to start hoarding for mo ney. LMAO. I am just kidding, I could not do that. 😅🤣😂

Gimme some of the clothes. Because of strongly reduced income because of the pandemic I haven't had anything new for over a year.
I would like some of the $ they spend. Pounds are worth triple in my currency 😩
26:08 I still have my dad's (teeth) plates also. He has been gone 23 years...
Omg me too💀jus the clothes I buy I never wear them and trust me I buy alot of clothes😭

That's because it's a mental issue. Lots of people have problems like this, sometimes it manifests itself in areas other than hoarding.
20£ for that cabinet was a steal!
They mercy to get actual experts like pawn stars does. That’s the game play.

what happened to the glass shelves inside the cabinet??????
I like “The Hoarder Next Door” better of the uk shows. It brings real psychology into it. This is just fun tv…

these two people were very very sick
I love having the captions but there are quite a lot of errors, where the spoken words are not properly translated.
That’s because it’s just general RUclips closed captioning, not cc provided by the show you are watching, which would accurately match the dialogue.
I'll take the converse shoes
He said 3000 I'm guessing Curtis will get 1000
My dad would pick up hundreds of gloves frim the roadside or peoples garbage , hatdly any would have a mate
GIVE ME THE POKEMON CARDSSSSS
