I can relate to this lady- I’m a professional pet portrait artist and also a DIY enthusiast... I can’t stand to throw away useful stuff! I have to set limits on my “creativity”. Make sure I finish my ideas 💡 and if I don’t tackle it within a month, I pass it on.

There are some great antiques worth valuable money. I have my original Cabish Patch Kids and they are now wirth 30 thousand dollars. I also have a Shirley Temple Curly Top bride doll in mink condition. I know she's probably worth more than a pretty penny. I have two cabinets full of antique dolls which are porcelain.
I hate when they put reserves on it, means they don’t really want to sell them.

I have a lamp just like that set of porcelain she took to that collector! Now I’m wondering. My husband bought it for me in a junk shop! It had this huge dusty lampshade on it.

This series is from 2012.... pretty sure the internet was fully operational by then. Why sell this stuff at an auction with a tiny buyer pool when you can just ebay it like a normal human being?
Because is more tv style and nice to watch. ;)
Maybe all the cost and hassle of having to ship larger items, especially if it's potentially overseas?
I think that some people of that age were resistant to the internet, it took my family members longer to get on board. Although the producers should have put certain things on eBay for the hoarders to see how much they could really get for valuable items.
Because what fun would it be for viewers to look at a computer screen ?
Ebay could take years to sell everything off. The auction happens in one day, and these shows are only taped over a few days. An auction adds a bit of suspence, excitement and entertainment value.

There is no way this woman is either a researcher or an academic. A small-time hoarder or gatherer is closer to the mark. Supposed to be an amateur historian but never once mentioned what she was studying or the period, country, etc. A historian does not just collect and do nothing, but put simply, is a person who studies and writes about the past and is regarded as an authority on it. She has nothing to show any connection with being a historian and that includes publications, etc.
