Robert Godin will one day be spoken of with the same reverence as Leo Fender and Orville Gibson. He won't be around forever so we should appreciate him while he's here. Legends are never appreciated in their lifetimes and it's such a shame.
Until you play one you just don't know. I bought my mini jumbo sws qit for 600 new. It's an amazing guitar that I will never let go of. It does have goudin
I had taken back a Seagull S6 because the neck just didnt feel right. LOVED the sound though. I had the means to buy a Martin 00015M. I really wanted it because it was beautiful, made in PA and I been to the factory and was amazed at what I saw....obviously because of Martin's history as well. I played it with my very minimum skills for a 1/2 hour. Just wasnt feeling it. Went with a Seagull S6 Slim. Love it.
SEAGULL fully underrated. Those are so nice and good, sometimes i do not understand what peoples really want. really: i got my Seagull S6 Coastline for more then 5 years now. Unbelievable, NOT 1 problem ! Guitar Stay in tune in all situation. are easy to play and sound really nice. ALL is bout individuality. And SEAGULL have character that make have one a real nice guitar. For long.
What you see with Doyle is what you get. He is an amazing guitarist but very humble ! I have not had the honor to meet Robert Godin yet but hope to someday. They are amazing instruments!!
I played the concert hall one and it beat out some lower Taylors, Martins and Breedloves. Highly recommend looking into Seagull. I love mine. It JUMPED out at me above the other ones. So that's what I came home with.
I've had this exact model for 4 years now and it's a great guitar. Awesome sound. You can play it all day, come back the next day and it's still in tune.
So the label on mine reads as an 'S6 Original Slim CH Burnt Umber GT A/E'. The CH is for Concert Hall. It has a Fishman pickup. Yeah, you're right, he just says S6 but that's a little general. Mine looks and sounds just like that so I'm assuming it's the same or a very similar model. @@toomuchtime5505
Just bought an Entourage sunburst C3 . Very pleased! I traded in two of my good guitars at Guitar Center to get it. If you want an excellent acoustic guitar and can’t find it in the Seagull, then you really don’t want an excellent guitar.
I own that particular model. It is AMAZING. Gorgeous sound, feel and look. I also have 3 other Seagulls (s6 Mahogany Deluxe, Maritime Mini Jumbo, Entourage Grand) and 2 Simon & Patricks (Woodland Pro Spruce, Woodland Pro Folk). You cannot beat the value. So affordable, and the quality for the money is truly incredible. Don't know how they do it! Can't thank Godin enough (I have 3 Godin's too! ACS slim Nylon, Multiac Spectrum, 5th Ave Kingpin II). I think I have one of everything covered. Except a solid body electric from them... but hey guys.. a girly color once in a while... how about it??
I have a Seagull and a Norman Guitar, both are going to be with me forever, I have had lots of guitars come and go through my house through the years but I always find that the first guitar I reach for from my collection is my Seagull Maritime SWS Spruce top, it is a work horse that loves to be played and out of all my Guitars which include some very expensive models I can say with out a doubt it is the loudest more volume then my old Gibson SJ-200 left to me from my grandfather.
I love it! @ 1.52", Robert Godin's comment: ".....it costs the same to make a bad guitar and a good one.." So true. I have owned several Godin guitars and all have been well made and well priced. When it comes to value for money, these guitars are right up there.
Wow .. nice ... Yeah I've owned an S12 seagull for a long time that just gives an expansive ovation a run for it's money. I need to get me an s6 though. Can't beat the price. Thanks for sharing.
Wow...this is an amazing sounding and looking guitar! It projects so well and the volume is balanced across all the strings. I would have guessed it sold for at least $2000. And it sells for around $600? I am totally impressed! I want one! Doyle, you should have been endorsing these Godin guitars a long time ago. You seem to be right at home playing them. 👍🏼
I love how this guitar sounds. Small aesthetic question. Why no abalone rosette? A contrasting blue green would really pop. It’s a really small gripe. Certain guitars seduce me with their aesthetics. Gibson Songwriter Limiteds, D’angelico Excel Line, etc. I loved the sunburst finish from several years back on the Seagulls. A few extra tasteful touches would be so lovely on one of these. Beautiful sound though. Unmatched.
We have around 8 Seagulls at our house. Few 20+ year old S6's, one seagull S12, 2 seagull performers and 2 seagull artists (including the top-of-the-line seagull artist studio). They are ALL build very though. They have a nice wide neck and sound good. However, I feel where Seagull shines is at their cheaper guitars being the S6's as they provide excellent quality for the money. If you're looking at the more expensive models i'd personally recommend Eastman if you want high quality sound for little money compared to martins and taylors. But guitars are subjective obviously and this doens't mean a seagull artist isn't worth looking at, at all. Very nice guitars and simply underrated.
Picked up my seagull for 240 bucks. Slapped some 13/56 elixer pb’s tusq bridge pins and ill tell u. This guitar came alive. I mean i swear this thing is a breathing living emotionally loved filled guitar. It sounds better than the 5 guitars i played at the shop costing from 1200-2700 dollars. Sounds better than any other seagull ive played. I may have found needle in a hay stack. I was looking at getting an andrew white eos 2so for 1200 bucks but i changed my mind. I frickn love this guitar. Its seriously my best friend well after my son and wife of course. Ill set it on its stand and im telln u it looks at me and i can feel it looking at me all sad and just wanting to be either played or be in my hands or on my lap . Told my wife when she asked if i wanted a resonator guitar i says no nez will be jelous. I wasnt kiddn. This guitar is absolutely amazing !! Reminds me of guy clarks song “the guitar”. Check it out great song. This guitar was not there when i first went into the humidified room. Looked around tinkerd around on some pricey machines. Was walking out and low behold there was this guitar sitting there. I scowerd the entire room, but i look down see a price tag 240 bucks and outta curiosity i pick it up play it ans was like holy fuck. Went home put new strings and bridge pins went back and Got a sales guy said here play this. He looks at it spins it says nah. I said play it. So he busts off a another brick in the wall pt 1 and says wat thaaa fuck? I said yea dude. He looks at it again and says ive never heard or played a seagul that sounded like that. This was after i made the adjustments.
Nice!!! Thank you for the detailed review. What kind of bridge pins? I am about to get this in the next week or two! Can't wait. I hope its everything im hoping for.
the guitar is a great guitar but the real secret is the person playing it wow Doyle shure knows how to make a guitar sound years of experience . poor player = not great results right but what is important is having fun with a good quality guitar made in our Quebec province. we should be proud of Robert Godin merci Robert
I love my Seagull performer (flame maple). It sounds beautiful. My ONLY complaint is I just don't like the look of the head stock :( . I know it's nit-picky, and doesn't affect the sound. It also is part of the reason they stay in tun so well. The Seagull is my most played guitar, and the flame maple back and sides is just BEAUTIFUL. The arrowhead looking head stock is the only thing I would change.
Rober. (What we Texas cedar hackers) call "Bobby" Godin. Hoss I luv yew. You know your products really well!!! Speaking of cedar BTW my Seagull S6 is made partly of cedar. Completely different sound than the most used wood for guitar tops. Ya got ole Chris Martin and Guild's Ren Ferguson who are my worth mentioning "Big Hawgs" of manufacture. But I believe your passion and commitment to making affordable guitars rules! The comment about the strings is not cow chips. The tuning machines are great on either the S6, SRS Maritime or the Coastline are kick butt. Do I haul water for Seagull? You betcha. Almost as much as my Martins.
I have four Godin guitars and would have a few more if they made them in a left handed version. Maximum bang for the buck. My S6 is 12 years young and sounds better than ever. Please Godin make a few of your higher end models in lefty! Thanks.
Hi, what is the song Doyle starts playing at the @1:03 mark? Also, I am looking to buy one of these, maybe the slim version. I read someone's review on amazon saying the action was way too high though, which is a bit off putting for me. Could you comment on this? :)
Any guitar needs a good set up. Take it to your luthier, have him put your favorite strings on it and set the action to play the way you'd like for it to play. There are plenty of YT videos on how to set up a guitar if you're feeling brave. It's not difficult once you do it a few times it gets much easier. The action on many guitars will also change from season to season requiring some minute adjustments as well.
That's the S6??? I have the S6, and the body shape does not look like that, the curvature in the mid body is not as narrow/sharp as what is in the video.
Robert Godin will one day be spoken of with the same reverence as Leo Fender and Orville Gibson. He won't be around forever so we should appreciate him while he's here. Legends are never appreciated in their lifetimes and it's such a shame.

I hope and pray to someday get to meet Robert! He just seems to be the type person you want as a friend

I got interested in Seagull after seeing Keb 'Mo playing one in the '90s ;)
What you see with Doyle is what you get. He is an amazing guitarist but very humble ! I have not had the honor to meet Robert Godin yet but hope to someday. They are amazing instruments!!
Just bought the seagull mini jumbo rustic! I'm very happy with the quality and sound
I just purchased my first Godin acoustic fairmount composer, and i love it.Thank you Mr.Godin for making beautiful instruments like my new guitar!!!
That sounds fabulous. My next guitar.......definitely!
Had my S6 for 22yrs & it still sounds feckin great :)
amazing !
i love my seagull entourage. I'll have that guitar till' the end of my days
Just brought mine home today because of this video. Gotta say I'm in love already. Perfect setup right out of the box!
Congrats on the guitars. Do you know the model in this video?
'Seagull S6 Slim Concert Hall Burnt Umber' - catchy name lol
I love the sound of my Seagull.
So true about staying in tune.
I like the one you have but I want it in a cutaway. Will be getting one soon.
Own and love this guitar!!!
Like all the rest of my Seagulls and S&Ps!!
I played the concert hall one and it beat out some lower Taylors, Martins and Breedloves. Highly recommend looking into Seagull. I love mine. It JUMPED out at me above the other ones. So that's what I came home with.
I'm sold!
I have this guitar and its beautiful
I wish I had discovered Godin guitars before now. Superb guitars and amazing value. Players guitars.....
I have an Entourage..What a beautiful sounding guitar...
What a legend
I've had a Seagull Entourage Rustic for sometime and I can attest to what Mr. Godin says...once in tune it stays in tune!
I've had this exact model for 4 years now and it's a great guitar. Awesome sound. You can play it all day, come back the next day and it's still in tune.
What model is this? I've been trying to figure it out for ages now!
Is it really an S6 as he says? I thought the S6 was a dreadnaught?

I have never played a Seeagull. I'm going to pursue this further as my local guitar shop sells them.
Doyle can make any guitar sound amazing
I'm very pleased, if you make a new review with unplugged condition

I have an old Seagull. It sounds superb to any acoustic I have ever played!

Canadian made guitars are very underrated and dont get the recognition they deserve.
Its better that way. That way they'll stay affordable for those of us that want them :)

Please bring this model back
checking one out on monday if the guy has it for sale still! This video had me sold
I bought it! Was actually a model I haven’t seen or heard anything about. It is a burnt umber concert hall but it’s called a c6 not an s6
Zbird Music how does it sound compared to this video?
I love my Seagull performer (flame maple). It sounds beautiful. My ONLY complaint is I just don't like the look of the head stock :( . I know it's nit-picky, and doesn't affect the sound. Ha Doyle you could make a shoe lace sound great lol nice guitar love the colour
The song at 1:03 is called The wings of The Morning by Doyle Dykes
Thank You! I have seen Doyle Dykes amazing playing but wanted to know what this incredibly beautiful song was!
haha what an awesome dude
I need one of these guitars! Been desperate for one since I saw the video introduction at NAMM this year. I can't find one!
Got it... LOVE it!
did you get a girly color? lol

Concert Hall?
Looks like the
S6 ORIGINAL SLIM CONCERT HALL BURNT UMBER GT A/E
Is it this model? www.guitarcenter.com/Seagull/C6-Concert-Hall-Acoustic-Electric-Guitar-1500000001131.gc
Hi there! how do you do the harmonics?
Seagull's are the best acoustic guitar out there
@Godin Guitars, could you please tell the name of the song @1:02 ? We really do appreciate it.
please please please tell me what he was playing at 1:03
This fuggin' guy can play.
Is that the spruce or cedar top S6?
Holy Crap.
I have four Godin guitars and would have a few more if they made them in a left handed version. Maximum bang for the buck. My S6 is 12 years young and sounds better than ever. Please Godin make a few of your higher end models in lefty! Thanks.

why not godin for the acoustic series; the Multiac is great !
Great sounding guitars and like he says, you won’t have to take out a mortgage to get a great sounding acoustic.
The song at 1:03 probably has sold thousands of these guitars. Does anybody know the name of this song?
Markus Arike i am also looking for the song name. Any one?
doyle is the greatest guitar player in the world.
I have an S6, called the Black Velvet.............from the mid 80's..........I'll never sell it.
Is this s6 concert hall that selling for $499 at guitar center ?
yeah completely avg guitar
Great player, great guitar just don't let him put DR's on it!
I can't find any Seagull guitar that looks like this for under 700USD .... I think it might be a mistake??
What the name of this guitar?
Tannant65 Seagull S6 Coastline Slim Concert hall
I bought mine and i jizzed in my pants, I stood with smile in the store a few minutes after.
Why the jump from Guild?
not the price, he can buy anything, quality maybe
What's the song he plays at 1:02?
i want to know too :/
Kingdom hearts... nice.
No one knows the song at 1:02?
Trix the wings of the morning
Saint
Whats the song’s name?
what's the song at 2:00?
Is it “Deed I Do”?
80% the player - 20% the instrument. Doyle could play a Hello Kitty guitar (the toy not the pink Strat) and it would sound great.
any1 find out the song at 1:02?
It’s one Doyle wrote. I think it’s called Nothing’s too good for a friend.
Have one ... no regrets... named it Josephine
Actually, this is a Seagull C6
You might be wrong there. The S6 has the controls inside (this one). The C6 does not.
It's cheating to have Doyle Dykes demo a guitar. He could make a washtub with picture-hanging wire for strings sound good.
I don’t think it’s an S6 as they are dreadnaught and this clearly is not.
Je laurais achter mais un autre model discontinué svp godin garder dont vos modèles
That's the S6??? I have the S6, and the body shape does not look like that, the curvature in the mid body is not as narrow/sharp as what is in the video.
gmlasam the S6 concert hall has a similar curvature.
Roger Baker I only know because I’ve been shopping Seagulls recently and wasn’t totally clear which model I was playing the other day. 😝
As played through an amp! Two grand my arse.
when i wet Doyle he had a $20,000 guitar
he really was wet
this guy is looney
