I'd kill for a Battletech series done in the style of Battlestar Galactica (2003). Set it during the Amaris Coup, beginning with the invasion of the Periphery, and ending with the SLDF's exodus into deep space.
Hey I'm planning on making my own filmmaking studio soon so who knows maybe in 10 years times I'll be able to get the film license rights for Battletech and make a kick ass series with it. This universe has so much potential in it that I'm sure it could become the next Band of Brothers or Game of Thrones later down the road.
Considering the stuff Was Set up in 2006 this is really remarkable. And a excellent eye for Details like Clan customs and terminology. Beats the hell outta some cutscene and Intro vids of that time!
The best cutscene I've ever seen is the initial video of Mechwarrior 4 Vengeance. Sure it's a little cheesy but it is so immersive too, and I cared more about those characters in a few minutes than I did of anyone in Mechwarrior 5 which I played I don't know how many hours of... It'd be cool AF if they returned to that style in the next game.
For a school project this is actually really good!! And it has everything we want in it!!! So much of Hollywood wants to put everything in the movie But the main plot device, whenever they make a game inspired movie. Like the new Doom has no Doom guy. Made the same mistakes as the previous one! Anyway good job guys! Would love to see more of this. In case any the original team sees this comment.
I gotta admit, if there was a Battletech live-action series based on the Dark Age Era, I'd probably watch it. Though, I would rather see a series that focuses on the Succession Wars and later on Clan Invasion with each season focusing on a different faction.
This is absolutely mind blowing, especially given that it's apparently from 2006, those computer effects are absolutely gorgeous. They look a little dated now, but for something that's almost 20 years old, that CGI is work is insane.
this is far the best movie ive seen so far on the real thing id like to see a full 30 minute movie that ppl that by in stores like a real movie i wonder if there if more to the plans you have on this matter
The CGI of 4 years ago can be excused, and it's not that bad. But the acting is as robotic as a Madcat. Bring on more vids, but choice your actors wisely.
even the acting can be excused, but the engagement itself, the tactical battle is so bad. Nobody would do that thing with 2 lines approaching each other. That is like ww2 at best, if not ww1 poor tactics.
@@mikebrandon8962 - I agree that it could have been done a lot better, but to your second point about WWII: Battletech / Mechwarrior is pretty much designed to be WWII with Mechs and some Cold War era designs for vehicles. In today's modern age with drone strikes and Tomahawk cruise missiles and so forth, the very idea of the Battlemech, and even assault tanks, is outdated. With the push of some buttons, they can be taken out from distance by weapons platforms significantly cheaper than what they are blowing up. Instead, Battletech wants to be closer to WWII and the battle of Kursk - but with Mechs.
Ugg the worst atlas, atlas 3. Definitely seen better production from folks with mor vision. Such as the old mechwarior 4 cutscene, as well as the battlepod cutscene. These folks rush through thier lines or have a bad director. CGI, was good. But I’m here for the history Yes Thunderfox, no idea what the tall clan mechs are ment to be.
Jackalopes are the smaller ones, double gun one the Battlemaster does in is a Mangonel, and Anastasia was in a Mad Cat Mk IV, which is a return to the old 75 ton Heavy of its ancestor, with much the same loadout, though upgraded with newer tech.
Your effort is appreciated but the basic engagement is, lets say, poorly thought out. Just look at any of the MechWarrior online streamers (in the present, but back then there were enough MechWarrior living legends videos as well) and see how real engagements would be. Forces would not have these lines that approach each other and barely shoot. Indeed, this is the way of the 1980s, when they thought out the tabletop game, but the people behind the table top game, at that time were smucks in terms of tactics, knowledge and planning, so using anything pre 2000s as a base to create something in the BattleTech universe is severely punished with the outdated mentality of those early days. Long range units would fill the enemy lines with barrages of bullets or beams or rockets while fast movers would flank...and definitely there would not be such a long flat stretch of desert used for the engagement with those load outs. The defenders at least would have ppcs lrms and L lasers constantly firing from vehind defense positions if they had such a flat area from where red would come, and by no means directly engaging. If you do another one of these videos, please take into account the tactical aspects mentioned and it will be great. Once again, praises for your effort to create this video.

Id rather die than let someone mess it up like they did BSG remained. That show sucked.
This is great! Why don't they make a series now! Good cgi

And now with Hour of the Wolf out, we know the Republic did not survive the retreat or the Fortress.
SEYLA !!! ALL HAIL THE ILCLAN !!!!

WHAT? you mean you DON'T like it when an entire franchise is ret conned out of existence? bah, how absurd. - every ceo
Even The Green Bird from La Nouba herself?

like Game of Tech
@@deleonfrancis60 Yes, precisely.
With the rise of AI, it might get easier and easier for fans to make something
Man, this really gives off Mechwarrior 4 FMV vibes. Love it.
Christ they even have the terminology!! She even called that guy a stragav lmao.
For a school project and the time it was made I liked this a lot. Nicely done :D
Those Battlemaster pilots were heroes.
This is a school project...better than anything coming out of Hollywood the last few years..awsome
To be fair, the acting leaves much to be desired. The animation is absolutely stellar though, absolutely the best student project from this time.
@@CaptainFordoAlpha-77 Some of the acting. Kerensky was good, the colonel as well.
This deserves more views. One of the best 6 minutes I've spent.
Thank you for the upload. This is the best Battletech short on the internet (that I know of).
Can't believe this has only 4,556 views at time of comment... a brilliant film that touches on Battletech characters and conflict! Cool stuff

The Atlas Mech is a powerhouse! Nice video!
Still an impressive showing. Really the only problem is some of the actors not being great, but hey, nobody's perfect.
This was awesome especially to be a school project
Best 5-minute movie I've ever seen
...Would love to see more Battletech programs like this! Such a change from the bland trope we get today.
The events of this video were recently canonized/referenced in the Jackalope entry in Shrapnel #16.
Love some of these fan comments. I to am into the stuff. Got a ton of the books. The details in this is nuts.
Yooooo why am I just now seeing this???? Even for its age, this is dope as hell!
Has that Gene Roddenberry' Andromeda TV show feel :) I approve!!
This friggin voice acting
The Green Bird from La Nouba is in it. Didn’t you know that?
very well done !!!!
This is actually quite good!
great stuff, guys!
The Anastasia Kerensky actress would have made a perfect Holly Harris from Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries. Dead ringer for the voice.
That Anastasia actress would be The Green Bird herself, Elena Day.
this is far the best movie ive seen so far on the real thing id like to see a full 30 minute movie that ppl that by in stores like a real movie i wonder if there if more to the plans you have on this matter
you forget the MechWarrior 4 intro. Now that is the best.
Sweet atlas 3 finally in media
1:28 The Green Bird Herself
FOR THE REPUBLIC!
Now I want an Anime version of this with The Green Bird from La Nouba as Elena Day’s character, Anastasia!
Masterpiece is not the word I would choose, lol
10/10 short and sweet
Took 9 years, but 666 likes.
This is awesome!
What was that at 02:15? Some newfangled Dark Age Rotary AC-20 or something? He damned near cored a Madcat in a single attack!
Sarna designates it the Rotary AC/2, but presumably this is a modified ROTS model. Possibly one of the upgraded RAC/10s
Plus the Timberwolf had already seen combat and was damaged.
That’s a full u ac20 that would melt through the chassis like butter
High Voltage sticker on a control board? kek
nice artwork - did you use blender ?
Is this the footage of Star League Defence Force (SLDF)
Republic of the Sphere, 32nd century. During the later 'Dark Age' timeline after FASA went under.
The only real issue I have with this is that several of the Clan warriors used contractions. A BIG no no!!!!!
Is that clan wolverine?
There is no clan Wolverine, stop making up fictional clans 😉
Wolf Hunters, they're a Merc unit made up of former Clan Wolf-in-Exile, iirc.

This was made waaaaay before 2014, like 2006

The 'acting' in these early BT/MW titles was so wooden and subpar. I know this is a fan production, but it keeps the vibe.
