  • We travel to the greatest off road destination in America! Home to some of the most breath-taking views you'll ever experience, across mountain trails that most off road capable vehicles can conquer.
    Also known as the Switzerland of America, Ouray, Colorado and the surrounding San Juan Mountains are home to five Jeep Badge of Honor trails (along with dozens of other 4x4 trails).
    In this video, we take our Hemi-swapped Jeep Wrangler out to show you why this area should be on every off road enthusiast's bucket list!
    Hope you all enjoy the video!

    The western slope of Colorado is a treasure that most us who live there try to keep a secret. But, we welcome everyone to come enjoy it, just please keep it clean and work to protect it, as Brit and Kevin both mentioned. Every year more and more trails get closed because of abuse from visitors. Great Vid!

      The beauty is that there are tons of wilderness lands to get happily lost in if you're willing and able to park your rig and strap on a pack. God didn't just give you two feet for accelerator/brake and clutch! 😁 But don't forget the poncho and bug spray!

    After 31 years of being into Jeeps/off-roading, I finally made the trip from the Alabama Gulf Coast to Ouray, and then to Moab. Black Bear Pass was my first trail "out west" and like Kevin said, It changed me. Now, I want to make going to the Colorado/Utah area a semi-annual thing. Thanks for showing everyone these spectacular views and inspiring those who will travel to them!

    Thank you for the PSA about "Stay the Trail", that is SOOO important everywhere and needs to constantly be said since inconsiderate people still do it. It's like in my profession with over 1 million employees where we have to constantly have this certain type of training multiple times per year and many complain about. Well, we have to keep giving that training because people are still breaking the rules.

    • @LiteBrite
      @LiteBrite  2 года назад +10

      Yeah, we do our best to talk about it every so often on the channel. Especially because “stay the trail” isn’t really a concept in a lot of off road parks on the eastern half of the country. So a lot of times is just a matter of education (people just aren’t aware of the importance of it, or how fragile the ecosystems are here, etc).

      Black bear pass is definitely stay the trail. As a 5th generation Coloradoan we live by it. We started a local clean up organization "Focus on the Forest" Tri lakes & Woodland Park on both sides of Rampart Range that helps pick trash, graffiti removal, restoration of the trails shooting ranges & disperst camping. This is our 4th year I believe.

      @@LiteBrite As a rock climber in SoCal, I also have to thank you. Our two activities (climbing and Jeeping) are generally not the friendliest toward each other, but I see a lot of similarities. We try to practice the Leave No Trace principles as best as we can for climbing/hiking. We appreciate your PSA as well. Good land stewardship means things will stay open, hobbies can be fun and our kids can enjoy it for years to come. Stay safe!

      @@ruger8412 In my area north of Phoenix they're (BLM) trying to close down close to 350 miles of trials. In the Sedona area they're looking at closing down trails and going to a permit requirement. The only reason for this is folks are not taking care of the land/trails. Some of the shooting ranges on BLM land have so much trash/brass that it would be a very difficult task to clean it up. Let's take care of it before we loose it all. I'd like to see my grandkids to be able to enjoy the great outdoors like I was privileged of seeing.

    We have some family land in Montrose and absolutely love heading out there from GA every year. Wheeling up in the San Juans is truly something else. Not challenging, besides overcoming fear of heights, but they are my favorite "trails". I actually started, never was an offroader, wheeling out there with airport rental Jeep's. So we just had to score our own JLUR after 2 trips out there. Usually are there for July 4th but pur newborn baby girl kept us away this year, can't wait to share the experience with her.

    Been loving the San Juans since the late 1960s and you would not believe how much prettier it was in the 70s and 80s...a period of much more rainfall and no pine bark beetle kill off. But in spite of a drier climate and tree kill it is still our preferred corner of Colorado. It hasn't been ruined like the front range and the ski resort areas accessed by I70. So, shhhh, don't tell the whole world....but guess I'm a little too late! Thanks for a trip down memory lane....

In the seventies it was just a tiny town full of hippies and antique stores. Nice to see you guys back in the environment you where in when I first came across your channel. I’ve been on Black Bear and Imogene, they are truly beautiful!

    So beautiful! Thanks for sharing! I sold my Land Rover before my wife and I met, and I am really hoping to someday be able to show her the amazing views you can get on these trails.
