The beautifull path of vocal learning. I still remember when I had to impersonate a Smurf to get used to nasal resonance and make some blues-like rasp vocals. Funny times.
I had to log into my account just to thank you for explaining the transition between vocal fry and a vocal scream, I tried in the past to "blend" it together without success, once you taught me it's a transition with your first method, it was very comfortable, I could hear a little tiny raspy break in my exhale, once I got the hang of what the feeling was I just pushed out more and more air from my diaphragm like I was really fed up. It's literally only been 3 hours and I can scream like my idol Mitch Lucker (R.I.P) and what's great is that my throat doesn't hurt at all!!
*I'm 15 and I started learning and practicing how to scream a week ago, and I feel like I did it quite well. I learned how to breathe with my diaphragm (idk how to spell it) and found my false chords. I still can't conjoin the scream with the clean vocal, but I'll get there eventually.*
I am having a hell of a time transitioning too. I seem to roll into a rasp instead and it's bugging the hell out of me. lol The neighbors are thinking I'm performing an exorcism, and I'm simply singing The Hokey Pokey! 🤣🤣🤘🤘

I tried a lot of things. This was the first video that actually taught me simple steps to hold the right vocal form. Now I can explore my voice up and down my range to find points that enhance that tone. Too many tutorials are like "make this sound", which isnt right because "that sound" is unique to your voice. You said "here's how to slowly get into the form that makes MY voice sound like this" and it totally worked. I added breath support and instead of wheezing out it was like the static disappeared for a split second then a jet engine geared up. Trying to "yell" that loud would totally hurt. I'm amazed. Thank you!

This was really refreshing to have a different approach to fry screaming (I’ve honestly watched every English speaking tutorial on RUclips on it). It would be super cool though if you went over a bit more of how it may sound when we’re trying to do each technique and what may happen and what it would generally (or possibly) indicate in a future video if possible :)
THANK YOU! This is the kind of exercise I've been looking for!! The S to Z thing really helped me feel where the placement of distortion should REALLY be and it doesn't hurt at all!!!
Thank you! I’ve always wanted to fry scream, and your tutorial has helped me unlock my fry. I’m a lot better with my high fry than my mid or low fry, but it still sounds kinda good. Again, thank you so much!
I was listening to this to learn and I thought “just imagine if someone walked in out of context and she was screaming”.......someone did and we had an awkward stare and they left without a word
Try tightening or pushing your diaphragm (the muscle that contracts when you hiccup). Google the anatomy of the torso to find where this is. You can feel where it is a few ways but I describe it as creating a backwards hiccup. There's plenty of videos that explain how to use the diaphragm to project.
This video helped me so much! the vocal fry into the s or z helped me finally get it, I've been trying to learn how to fry scream for so long, thank you for this series!

I've realized that it's really difficult to use these tutorials (any on RUclips) to actually get the fundamental technique down. You just really have to try out many different methods in many different ways until you stumble across the correct technique. I've been trying to get it for over 10 years (on and off), and I finally... FINALLY managed to get it down. Now I appreciate your tutorial so much more. The problem with trying to copy the sound is that you can make this sound in many different ways (by forcing it) which can put you down incorrect paths.
Yes, depending on your vocal type and range, you won't be able to go higher after a certain point in your chest without risking strain or damage to your chords. You have to have a really strong falsetto/head voice and good control over it to apply it to screaming. It will feel like a natural gap jumping from the chest/head while fry screaming. The sound will just feel like it's coming from your head rather than your diaphragm.
I've seen many tutorials and I think this is the best one. I was practicing a year with the diaphragm trying to sound like Dracula about to bite (that's the idea someone said in a tutorial) and my fry scream still didn't sound that good. With this technique it sounds better. Thanks so much!

Love your channel! Although I’m not a singer or musician, I like learning about the vocalists in the music I enjoy! I enjoy listening to Infected Rain, and noticed that it sounds like Lena does two different screams/growls you speak of as well as clean vocals. I’d love to hear you talk about her different vocals in a video. A great example would be “Mold” from their album “86.” Thanks!
Thank you so much!! It took my a while to find someone to best explain how to Fry Scream and I picked it up fairly quickly after this. I already knew how to scream and have been doing it for about 2 years, I also knew how to vocal fry and got pretty good at it to even throat sing. I understood how to acess a fry scream because of what knowledge I had and your lesson. 👍
ive always wanted to get more of a fry/yell mix for a mid sound. but im so used to doing false chord, cuz its what ive been doing for 10 years now, but i just dont like false chord mids nearly as much as the "yelling mids' that bands like Older Northlane, and/or Architects use.
WOW, I was able to do it properly thanks to this! thank you for this...and yes, it took me some minutes, I am passionate about this to try and learn as fast as I can :D

Thank you so much for every video you post. I'm actually getting nice results. Plus the video of Andy Cizek who talked about the vocal fry too I'm getting into it !! :)
Super glad to hear it!!
yes, I finaly found my talent. I have to work really hard to improve normal singing but this, I could do right away. awesome thanks!
Thanks for this vid. You explain things really well and the ideas behind them.
Funny story, i've been trying this on and off and watched several different content creators on youtube, but was never sure if i got the basics down correctly; my fry sounded weak, super weak. Just watching this video once i finally got it. :) Subbed!
I love your channel and would love to personally learn how to do all these metal screams with you as my instructor when I'm ready
I’ve watched a couple videos already and I finally got the basic concept to build off thanks so much this was real real helpful!!
Thank you , so efficient !!
Tried it, worked first time, kinda proud of my self and thank you for that good video
You explain this perfectly omg
The tip with the "s" was golden! Thank you!!!
Ugh so happy to see a woman teaching this😊
Your videos are amazing ! Your videos push me to start getting voice lessons at a local school. Great work
DUDE THE S/Z TRICK WORKED FOR ME AND I WAS HOPELESS BEFORE SO THANKS
thank you so much. Always wanted to learn how to make my baby steps. I was Abel to do it pretty good with my first try, with your advice.
ive always wanted to get more of a fry/yell mix for a mid sound. but im so used to doing false chord, cuz its what ive been doing for 10 years now, but i just dont like false chord mids nearly as much as the "yelling mids' that bands like Older Northlane, and/or Architects use.
Just realized you were the vocalist for Luna Mortis. You would be a perfect vocalist for arch enemy!!!
7:01 now that's an advice for a lifetime
Out of every video I've watched, this one has helped me the most. Thank you🖤🖤🖤
Your channel has been my go to lately. So many good pointers!
Wow, if you had a tutorial on rasp screaming like this one, I'd be all set! Thanks for this tutorial though.
WOW, I was able to do it properly thanks to this! thank you for this...and yes, it took me some minutes, I am passionate about this to try and learn as fast as I can :D
