- The Phantom of the Opera 1991 with David Staller as the Phantom/Erik and Elizabeth Walsh as Christine.
Before uploading this, there was no way to find it anywhere online (another user did have this on here before, but it was deleted at some point). Because of this, I checked to see if I could buy my own copy to watch it again. I then found that there were only very few copies left. All were used and most in okay condition. It took 3 different orders for me to finally get a copy (the other 2 orders were cancelled for it being out of stock). Since this appears to be extremely rare, I didn’t want this to be lost forever, so I uploaded it so that others can enjoy this as well.
oh my god this erik is so dramatic i love him
great statement teletubbyfan8209 from 2 weeks ago, i agree
Erik almost tripping on the stairs when Carlotta assumed that he was there for her had me in stitches! 🤣🤣🤣
It is so overdramatic and campy and I love it for that. This version makes me so happy, thank you for blessing us with the upload
campy is the perfect word lol
THEY ADDED DAROGA!! Why is this not popular?
David has one of the most beautiful and purest voices that can just hypnotize you ❤
I think the note hit here the hardest is the closeness betwixt the Phantom and the Persian/Daroga. They're like brothers and know everything about one another, there can be no secrets between them.
Nice. A classic. "I am whoever you want me to be. "
I just love this version!! David Staller is so compelling! And Elizabeth Walsh has such a pure, lovely voice. Thank you for bringing it back.
I heard of this version and saw some little fragments years ago. NOW I GOT TO SEE IT INTIRELY!!!❤❤❤
Awesome and SOOO much thanks for sharing this little rare pearl.❤❤❤
I am a huge Phan of the story and it is fun to discover new things.
I can agree on that this stage version was no big budget broadway production.
I heard this was a special for a benefit?
❤I must admit...., it really has it's charm and it has humor!!
The "perfect music" song is a hidden gem!!💎
Sure, its no " music of the night"... but that voice of the Phantom. Very enchanting. He is perfect for it!!
He shows tenderness, passion and love for Christinte with hints of danger and insanity that are in him. Amazing!!
I am impressed by the make up. They did a better job than the sunburn on Gerard Butler.
❤Really like the dark silvery mask. It give a grimm elegant effect.
The scenes I like best are the perfect music, the unmasking scene and the scene with Erik controlling Carlotta's voice. Carlotta is a lot of fun to watch and has a amazing voice.
Also the tripping of Erik on the stairs when he overhears Carlotta that she thinks he is here for her singing. Very funny😂
The ending is not what I expected. But good for you, Erik!! 😅
Overall: if you look through the errors, it is a wonderful charming version to watch.
I deffinatly going to re-watch it and enjoy that beautiful voice of this angel of music❤ again and again.
I wish David did the role in the ALW version. He has an amazing voice
I wonder where he is now?
@@jasminnemcdonald94A Google will tell you.
This is one of my favorite versions of the phantom of the Opera
I love Christine’s Disney princess essence in this one
Who else saw this vhs at there public library and thought this was ALW phantom and got it home only to realize that it was this and your whole life changed
ITS BACK!!! Thank you sweet angel!
I didn't even know this version existed?! Omg something new !
He was the one who took me in after my father died. He raised me as a daughter.
I have been searching for this since like 2008. Thank you.
He is also a lover. I have pledged my life and love to him. I cannot love you Raoul. I cannot be unfaithful to him.
Never delete this please!!! This is amazing
Как же я давно искала этот спектакль! Спасибо
Thank you! I've been wanting to watch this for a while
Oh my goodness I can’t stop listening and watching this version. Does the sheet music exist or a copy on cd/dvd? It’s a brilliant version. I’m not keen on the end but so many elements I love. Thank you so much for uploading this gem 💎 x
I'm dying over the Phantom joinig in during "running the show" (or wjatever the song is really called)😆 but I can't really tell what he's saying exactly 🥲
Also "perfect music" is such a great song. The musical world doesn't know what it's missing 😅
Oh he sounds so SO silly in Running The Show and I have NO CLUE WHAT HE IS SAYING BUT I LOVEHIM
Thank you for uploading this.
The show is really interesting. Staller is amazing as Phantom.
thank you so much for uploading this i love charllata in this
No a daughter . He cares for her and is concerned about her like a father would be.
Thank you for uploading this!
Thank you. x
YAY IT'S BACK!!!!!
6:27 "I am whatever you want me to be" - except a friend, cause ya know, he just wants love 😌
6:43 "how can I pay you for my lessons?" - 🌚🌚🌚
10:23 wow 10 years later? This is a good development to Erik and Christine's relantionship!
10:25 ok this is probably the only song I actually enjoyed.
14:45 oh Jesus, i can't stand this b-h. Honestly.
15:34 YEAH, CALM DOWN ERIK, SHUT UP!
18:21 tiny little cutie hands messing up around🥰🥰🥰
19:33 what a sassy b-h in the mirror.
24:19 the managers killing themselfs and Erik is like 👁️👄👁️
25:51 🏳️🌈🤨?
27:01 something that Carlotta and Erik have in common is that both of them speak about themselfs in third person
35:05 leave my baby alone, you murderer. This is why Buquet always dies in the Phantom adaptations 😡
39:50 here it comes the petty party-pooper
42:49 _now?_ She was always yours, Erik 🤭
43:17 gosh the Daroga is so fine. I love when they add my persian prince ❤️❤️
44:32 Christine is so strong... it it was me, I would have already kissed and licked that mouth 🥵🥵🥵
45:47 OMG I LOVE THIS MAN SO MUCH 😣😣❤️❤️❤️
45:58 ¿joker?
48:33 THE WORLD forsaken him, Christine. Not the opposite.
47:37 in the novel, Erik knows the original Don Juan was an evil villain and wrote a completely different character, his Don Juan Triumphant was about pain and love. This one... is just. Nonsense. Erik doesn't like the original Don Juan's character.
54:53 "your appearance won't matter" - proceeds to unmask Erik against his will and gets scared because of his face. Wow, Christine. Wow.
56:42 🥺🥺😍😍❤️❤️
59:18 I'm always a bit disappointed that the adaptations never give Christine her black dominó cloth as the original novel.
59:57 "you must know" nothing, keep your BS back, Raoul. Leave Christine alone.
1:00:21 no Red Death? Serious? Ok...
1:02:17 ERIK 😂😂😂😂 bruh such a sassy b-h ghost!
1:04:51 Carlotta x Erik canon confirmed?
1:05:29 ok this went from 0 to 100 very fast.
1:07:01 Jesus. I hate Raoul so much, seriously.
1:08:00 seriously, I thought All I Ask Of You was a perfect demonstration of how much Raoul and Christine had NO chemestry as a couple. But this song proved they can have -10 chemestry.
1:09:32 WHAT. IS. YOUR. PROBLEM??? Erik did NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU, literally NOTHING. Oh but a deformed man in love with you is such a threat for your "beauty", isn't it? Gosh. Christine is not like that in the novel.
1:09:40 she is not a prize to be won.
1:09:46 *yes.* You are exagerating TOO MUCH your insignificant existence, Raoul.
1:12:38 wow, Christine. Congratulations. You just proved that you rejected Erik because of his face. Let's see if anyone will deny it, now. Leroux Christine is offended right now.
1:13:24 finally, a caped hero showed up to save the day from this torture.
1:17:20 and the prize of "Greatest Pettiness" goes to... CHRISTINE! 👏👏👏
1:24:27 Bruh. What kind of an ending is that?? Could there be more anti-climax than this?
1:25:28 lol it's funny that this part is supposed to be "ooh look it's the first time Erik is touched by compassion", when no. She showed no compassion to him AND he touched women before. He embraced Christine and danced with Carlotta, so no. It's not dramatic, it's just... no.
1:28:03 Pharoga canon confirmed, hum? 🥺🏳️🌈👉👈
1:29:00 - 1:29:14 finally, Christine actually acts as Leroux Christine.
1:39:49 oh, a new girlfriend for Erik?
Ok, I hated how they didn't explain about Erik's horrible past. His deformed face is equal to NOTHING here. This Erik is not, in anyway, the same character we see in the novel. Really, even the ALW musical that made him more manipulative than he was understood the story better than this musical, oh but much better. This Erik lost completely his original essence. He seems to be obssessed over his own music than in love with Christine, when it's completely the opposite in the novel - he didn't want Christine to sing his music, he wanted her to follow her dream and to marry her. He wanted her love and company, that's all. In here, he's just a flat "villain" that doesn't even threat the Opera House as a whole. Ok, he killed Buquet, but who cares to that drunk murderous nobody? Erik is supposed to be a tragic anti-hero whose redemption would be reached after he experienced love for the first time. But here, he seems to be just a madman obssessed with "beauty" and "his music" and now he is decieving another girl. Where is the man who was abused by everyone because of his face, and is now craved for love and lost in despair? He's gone, replaced by a weird mad "genius". Christine is so petty and uninteresting, really. The kind, brave and independent woman we have in the novel is gone too. Raoul is supposed to be a childhood friend that she would rememberer, and not a random nobody who simply brought her scarp to her about 20 years later. He is... _nothing_ here. Like, literally NOTHING. Where is the jeaously, insane, childish and stalker viscount who purchased and humiliated Christine? In here, they are two strangers who felt in love because... yes? A lot of people are happy because of the Daroga, but he's completely useless and forgotable here. He has nothing to do with this version. Madame Giry is so random and nonsense, she seems to know about something the whole show, but in the end... well, again, it was nothing. I loved Carlotta, that ballerina song, the managers and some of Erik's aspects (like the make-up), though. David Staller and Elizabeth Walsh were amazing. I'm glad they casted a black ator to play the Daroga too. But in general, it's AT BEST a 6.5/10 adaptation.
Genuinely amused by how deranged your reading of the novel is. In what world is Raoul stalkerish? Lmao.
@@felixmarques Genuinely *horrified* by how deranged both your reading of the novel is and your excuses to Raoul.
Let's see, hm, he chases Christine after hearing her TALKING TO ANOTHER MAN, literally confesses to be jeaously and prohibs Christine of interacting with men, humiliates her in front of her adoptive mother, tries to control her life, threatens to kill Erik without even knowing who he is, threaten Erik's life IN FRONT OF CHRISTINE EVEN AFTER SHE TELLING HIM TO STOP, never believes what she is saying and literally calls her a pr0stitut3 because she "ignored his feelings".
But, it's a pretty richie little boy in the situation so it's not stalking.
But dare a middle-aged deformed man have feelings and traumas, oh dare...
@@felixmarques and i love how Christine herself feels threated by Raoul and yells at him many times (the same way she did to Erik), but no. Raoul is not a stalker in any way.
I love your Papa 4 pfp
@@Anonymous-ng4wc Thank you so much!! He is my favorite Papa! ❤️
He is like a protective fatherly figure Raoul.
I wonder what the production rights are on this version of phantom. Could another theater stage a production of this?
1:27:00 is this Bromance chat
man the only thing i like about this version is when daroga shows up lol
He now gives her over to you. Protect her Raoul.
At least the deformity on David Staller's Phantom is better than Gerard Butler in the 2004 Phantom of the Opera.
Love the 2004 movie dearly but.. really.. a sunburn??
@@olivergarden0 The makeup artist was too lazy to even give him a proper deformed face. That's why this movie stank.
Vor allen Dingen habe ich 1991 noch nie gesehen die Auftritte von Phantom der Oper das ist umso spannender für mich wäre ich Ihnen echt dankbar wenn Sie einsetzen würden das Musical Gruß Kerstin Werner
Jerma985 if he put on a production of Phantom and starred in it
I love this version so much. Is there anyway i can find the sheet music?
50:00 HOT DIGGITY DOG
23:25 Sassy Erik
45:54 saving his laugh for next time
1:01:01 Erik's dramatic stair fall
Who would’ve thought Gandhi’s assassin would become chief of police in another country and encounter the phantom of the opera?!
Does anybody know the lyrics of Spirit of Music from the opening?
Wait a minute. Where did the extra songs come from?
@@Niklas.the.13th. This is a version of “The Phantom of the Opera” that’s different than the Andrew Lloyd Webber version, so the songs are different if that’s what you mean.
Nice.
awesome lmfao
Hmm nice but it does not have the songs that are so popular today.
This version is sweet because The Phantom takes her in after her father dies.
He does the same thing in most of the adaptations, including the original novel.
Where did the original 1991 Phantom of the Opera was filmed at

Yes but there is a price.
I guess it depends on who is telling it.
